Earlier we used YaBB -forum many, many years. Now we are using IPB but there is one thing that probably everybody misses from golden YaBB times, "My Favourites" or what was the name of it. If you had some very interesting topics you wanted to follow easily, you just clicked "Add to my favourites" -button and this topic was 'moved' to My favourites -forum, which was at the top of all the other forums. So you had like your own forum on top of all forums and inside of it there were all most interesting topics for you, no matter in which forums they "really" were. On large forums with lots topics/messages, many old members are not interested in all zillion forums/topics, …

The new hosting packages - and changing the limit system - are very attractive. I think this push will really be great for users who dont want to host IPB on their own. Those bonuses - IP.Chat, and all the IP.Addons are a REALLY good offer. It even has me thinking about using IPS Hosting! Just one point - the website still needs to be updated. ;)

I suggest allowing for the following format, when it comes to editing furlTemplate.php: www.example.com/topicdirectory(topicnumber)/topic-name/ or... www.example.com/topicdirectory/topicnumber/topic-name/ As of now, furlTemplate does not allow us to remove the dash in friendly urls which precedes the topic name. Please see my topic about this here. I personally find that a friendly URL looks much better when the topic number does not separate the topic name with a dash. Hello. Recently I decided that I wanted to add a simple feature to my ACP Member area. It simply adds another collumn in the member view area that says "Safe" or "Not Safe" in terms f "Is this person a spammer?". I have a simple API set up between my server and stopforumspam.com's that returns Yes or No. While there is the spam service on here, occasionally users get though, or something goes wrong with the key, etc, and I want a quick way to check. I was just seeing what people though of this simple idea. Heres a Picture.

I love many of the new features but I get the feeling that IPB has become stuck in "Feature Creep" mode. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feature_creep I am worried that some of the more basic elements of the forum design are getting overlooked, in addition to releases taking longer. There are so many "small" updates that seem to span everywhere with no cohesiveness other than to make the site as "social" as possible (good in a way). We're interested in creating an iPhone app for our community, like the Facebook app. Please don't suggest we use a mobile skin. That is not what we want. Initially, we would like to just be able to post and view status updates, and when IPB 3.1.0 is released, add comments. Next we would like to add support for viewing and commenting on blogs, and viewing profiles. Has anyone set up a simple implementation of this? Are there any iPhone developers around who would be interested in collaborating on this project which could benefit the whole community? Does anyone know how to set up an RSS feed of status updates?

A thought to save many of us major bandwidth. Right now images are uploaded with a cookie cutter format. Example: photo-thumb-71961.jpg. This is the member id. If you could make it: photo-thumb-71961-random#.jpg then the random part could change every time it was updated. This would cause a browser to download. I use mod expires and set the expiration short because I want people to be able to upload their images for the profiles and see it change without a hard browser refresh. This would allow me to set the expiration date longer (like 30 days) and have people when they update not get lost in the cache period. It could simply require the database to store the na…

when editing your profile there is no logical way to get back to your profile when done editing besides going all the way up to your profile picture in the upper right or that drop box... i think there should be an addition in the bread crumbs or a button right above the editing area(top left) to take you back to your profile home.. edit profile info: Invision Power Services> Your control panel> Profile> Change Profile Information Invision Power Services> Your Profile> Your control panel> Profile> Change Profile Information or something like that? maybe a button would be better?

When I was cough cough exploring the April Fools forum, I noticed that when you try to use the topic preview on threads you have no permission to view, it just says no permission. Maybe a more graceful way to show that a member doesn't have permission to view?

Checking from that blog, I was expecting a little more from the reputation. Though I am really happy to see we can now view who is giving rep, I was hoping for the ability to also leave a reputation comment to the user. A small description of why we repped them. Another good feature I haven't seen mentioned is the ability to cloak yourself. To hide your username from the person being repped if you wish to stay as an anonymous user. Or anonymous to those that are not the original user being repped. Last thing is the option to make a forum area or thread sort posts by rep points. So while setting up my boards *which Im still doing* I notice alot of things don't have "global" settings... at least that I'm aware of.. if there is please let me know.. but what I mean by global settings is turning something on or off on all forums. For example.. the quick reply option.. I have to go through each and every forum just to turn that setting on. I have like 30 forum areas.. maybe more lol. It's tedious work. Some with user groups. If i wanted to turn something on or off globally it would be a really nice option to have. Erm unless its already possible, if so let me know please xD

Just a small practical improvement/suggestion: When you enable Multi-moderation for a forum it will show like this in the forum view: but in the topic view it will create another separate input, where the Multi-moderation could easily fall under the Topic moderation which would save the use of another input box. I've setup the CleanCut skin to combine the Post moderation and Topic moderation in one bar (since I think it's a waste of space using two bars, where the old IPB 2 setup (one bar) does the job (better)), but now I understand why you did this, because of the Multi-moderation. It would be nice if the emoticon limit would not be a hard limit but somehow based on the length of the posts. I think most of us hate posts that exist exclusively or primarily out of smileys. However, if a user comes up with a longer post of 3000bytes or something and puts in an emoticon or two every paragraph that is absolutely fair use, however he still falls into the hard emoticon limit. I do not want to lift the limit but I'd rather see a feature that allows more than the regular amount of emoticons. Would love to see the feature that shows how many person are viewing a particular forum eg, Music Forum (62 viewing). Of course it would also be good if an Admin can turn this feature off if they like.

Will we have the option to keep the search like it is in 3.0.5 which allows searching keywords everywhere. One of the reasons I left vBulletin was for this very reason. I just don't understand why an integrated system like IPS or vBulletin forces us to perform seperate searches for keywords. We should be able to enter keywords and IPS should provide results for all the forums, blogs, downloads, gallery images, etc. that have those keywords. If I remember correctly, the IPB 3.0 series were to have Imagemagick Support. I think when I asked after the betas were done if it was implemented that Brandon said that the framework was there. Just wanted to ask if Imagemagick was supported instead of using GD.
