Hi guys, I have now been the owner of an invision licence for a fair while and its a while since I have given some feedback, however I feel its time I did so. IPS Company PROS As a company I think the way you want to run it is excellent. The friendly/personal approach to the way you treat people I really like and many other companies should use you as an example. CONS I feel you miss too much at times lately. There is so much going on and things are moving at such a speed that things are being missed. In the default theme this is the only H1 tag on topic pages (green arrow) The problem I have with this is that text isn't even shown on the page, and the forum's name shows twice. Why not delete that (whatever it is) and change the titles (red arrow) to be in an H1 tag? (They're currently in H2). It would be better SEO-wise :)

I just converted to the hosted version from my own server and was a bit upset to find the limited options in cpanel. Namely no awstats or webalizer. I relied heavily on these stat apps to gauge and adjust my board to the population. Can we have these enabled?

By the way, you need a forum here where your paid customers can ask questions to staff, not just non customers. It ridiculous with no documentation. Are we suppose to send in tickets for basic information? What are the memory requirements for this board? I'm on server number 2 so before I try #3 it would be nice to know what is needed to run this.

Some members have accidentally clicked the (-)rep when they wanted to press (+). It would be nice to have the option to change your given rep. Or give a time period that allows a change.

In IP.Board as in some other forum software we can use Ctrl+B to make the text bold, Ctrl+I for italic and Ctrl+U for underline. But this doesn't work in Mac/Safari. Ctrl+B is reserved for moving cursor back in Safari, so it seems we have to use native Cmd+Key Mac shortcuts. Please make Safari as full-functioned as other browsers!

How can user edit the title or description of his topic? He must click on edit post button, then click on Use Full Editor button and just then edit Title/description. Why not just place Title/description inputs in quick edit panel when we edit first post in a topic?

In IP.Board 2 we had the standard JS dialog windows when trying to insert link, email link or image. There were some limitations and issues with that and in IP.Board 3 the dialog windows were replaced. But JS dialog windows has one very useful function: we could enter some text (usually from clipboard using cmd+V/ctrl+V) in it and press 'Enter' key to place the link. But now the 'Enter' key does not function: we must use a mouse cursor to click on a Insert Link/Insert Image button (at least in Safari). Please, return this function and let us using keyboard!

I've been thinking for some time about any way to make it easier for my forum members to get drawings and photos attached to posts. Now, with most people having a smartphone, wouldn't it be cool if people could snap a picture of a sketch or anything else and easily attach it to their posts? I love the way I can take a photo on my phone and email it to Picasa for example. Is there a reasonable way to implement something like this? It seems complicated for a system installed on many different servers (every member would have to have a custom email address that piped to a IP php script?) Seems like as long as the attachments have to obey the allowed attachments rule…

I just had my webhosting account suspended because I suddenly got load of spam bots (over 140) at the same time to my forum. I run my website with normal webhosting, and so far it has been OK since I usually never have more than 30 users at the same time. However, the number of spam bots wandering around my forum trying everything with my forums caused my webhost to suspend my account (without warning...) because it took too much resources. They told me that I need to get VPS hosting instead, but I was able to convince them for now to re-open my normal webhosting account. Whats the whole point of having 'started by' in each issue? Why not just replace 'Stats' at the top to 'Started By' ? Also, will it be possible to do something like: Issue: Status: Version : Fixed In : Started By: Last Reply Then when user clicks on Version, it sorts by latest version first ?

I would think that if non-validated members are unable to view profiles or post comments, that it would be reasonable to make it so that members, admins, mods, that do have access to post comments cannot post on those profiles. In other words, if you require members to validate their e mails prior to becoming a member, receiving PMs, restrict status updates, why let them receive profile comments? Just a suggestion :)

Two things I am looking forward in the 3.2 for the calendar app 1) A way to have different event colors in the same community calendar instead of having to create a new calendar and have different pages per calendar. ie you create an event and tag it as: EVENT and it goes let say green. then you create another event and you tag it as THEATER and it shows lets say as blue. One single calendar instead of different ones. You should also be able to sort and hide of course 2) A proper registration system for events. Something very simple where if you are authorized to create a RSVP you add a link/button to rsvp and select who will be able to see who is registered for that …

Would it be possible to flesh out the can_view_others = 0 forum settings so that it is fully functional. As it stands right now the feature feels like it was thrown together quickly, but never quite completed. For example, the following features would be useful if not just make sense to have them: Moderators of these forums should get new topic and new topic reply notifications. Currently they do not. Pinned topics should be seen by everyone who visits the forum. Glad to hear about the goals for 3.2! I can't wait. But I do have a few suggestions. 1. Allow custom buttons - I'm not sure if you can or not but from what I've been told by a respected IPB skin designer and coder, it is not possible to have custom buttons. This would add even more uniqueness to custom skins. 2. I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here but I still think the "watched" systems need to be improved upon. Almost like combining the "My Content" and the "My watched" would be perfect. It occurred to me based on a trouble shooting ticket that many users may have a ton of 3rd party developed hooks & modules. And when IPS staff is troubleshooting any given issue, they may come across code that is a bit well befuddling. How about part of the process of adding a hook/mod to the IPS Marketplace authors also submit some structured list of variables / classes as a dictionary so that IPS can have an internal resource at their disposal when you come across some class that is not part of IPS they know what possibly to eliminate. Hi. I was looking at my notifications today, and noticed that there were some random notifications about replies to my status updates, that were probably deleted before I saw it. Anyways, it would be nice if deleting a status update would get rid of that notification unless of couse it was an email.

Can we have an option added to the subforum redirect settings, that allow us to set it to open that specific redirect link in a new page? The way its set up is great for links that send you to some other area's of your own forum, but if you have a subforum that links to an external site, the option to have it open in a new window would be great. Example. You have a support forum that is used for a specific item. You also have a redirrect subforum that will take them to the official site of that product. When clicking the link it would close your site and load theirs. Would be ideal to have it load theirs in a new page and keep your site in the original page.

Currently there is no way to shut down signatures in Conversations "only" and keep them showing on topics and post. Conversations can get long with signatures. Would be nice if there was an option to have them on or off in conversations. I was actually surprised we are not able to do this now.
