In my head, and from what i hear from others, the word "forum" is an instant turnoff for many. This is a shame, because IPS is so much more than that. I am trying to market/lure users in, with the blog, and clubs/groups features, but the Forums are still there, "tasting ugly". I'd love to change what "Forums" is called, all across the site (jsut call them "discussions"), but this should be everywhere, including the url, settings etc. Is there a good/easy way to do this?

I am new to the community and IPS. My old forum was use Nuke Evolution Extreme 2.07. I was just wondering if I could save and import. Basically migrate it over to the new database that IPD uses. Would all the User's and Forum threads be recovered like from a backup? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't post images, but didn't have a problem before. I'm not sure what I did to cause this, but I'm sure I goofed somewhere. I can view images that I previously posted, but can't add new ones. It says: "The page you're trying to access is not available for your account." (I'm the administrator.) What I've done that may have caused this: I used the translation tool to change clubs to groups. Maybe I messed something up while I did that. There are no categories (I deleted the generic category that comes with the software), because I'd like for people to post images in the individual clubs, then those images flow into the gallery if it's an open group…

I have a small PayPal store on another website (not a Board) with a few products. Is there any way I can simply add a link to that URL/store on the IPB Store page? In other words when Members click the Store button they go to a brief description of the products with a direct Link to that store. I've look at the Store features in AdminCP and can't see how. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Dear friends, Today I have finally made Google API key accepted :-) But I got another problem: when I copy and paste an address from Google Maps to show one, my forum software (4.2) doesn't convert an address into the map. Here I copy the link and get the map automatically. At my community, the link remains the link. What should I check in order to make it working properly? I'm obviously getting older. Are featured topics only for use in widgets which are set to filter by featured topics? Or should they appear at the top of the main forum app index or elsewhere? I'm trying to highlight an important topic at the top of the board index, perhaps it's only possible with an announcement linking to it. I can set a Recommended Post and it appears okay at the very top of a topic, but there is no sign of it being highlighted elsewhere such as the main forum index. I can't see where I can mark a recommended topic either, only a post.

The "Complete your profile" message banner pops up with a "non-required" extra field and forces the user to input something before the profile is completed. This field must be left blank if there is no info to be put in that field. Why is this happening?

I was thinking of changing to start new line but I've had it as go to next line for a few years. If I changed now, it would create the following issue. becomes I thought, is there any way to safely remove single empty <p></p> in the posts, it would need to be just the single ones though, so not 3 of them for example <p></p><p></p><p></p> as they may have been put in to create a gap in posts from the poster, although the gap is going to be much bigger.

Hello there, I'm using one of ipcfocus.com theme, in IPS 4.2 many thing has to go into custom.css. My issue is that my /* Guests terms bar */ code has to be placed before "@media screen" code - instead it doesnt work. How to find where is my mistake ? What I was doing not correctly ? I would like for Clubs to be my default app. I don't want to use forums separately from Clubs (only within the Clubs). I've removed the tab via Menu Manager, but my main community url defaults to forums, as does "home" in breadcrumbs. Any advice? Thanks for any help or advice.

What exactly does this mean under each group permission settings "Maximum storage space per item of content" which I currently have set at 5120? If a member uploads say 5 images is this setting for all 5 images in a single post or each individual image? I just checked my uploads folder and several images on the server are very large (2356kb and up) with most images in the 100-300kb range. I need to make sure these larger images are not being uploaded to my server. Thanks for any help

I started a new forum and imported many topics/posts with the api. Now I don't see a "New topic" or "Reply to topic" as the user importing the old topics and posts. I think this is the spam defense, there was also a log entry in the spam defense log. The user is not flagged as spammer, but he can't post anything. Is there a way to unblock him? Ok, fixed it now. It was the content limit per day for the group.

If I put this setting on in order to go full SSL, does it mean that all images ever posted will be stored the uploads directory, or do they somehow just go through the server and they aren't actually stored?
