Yamamura reacted to Jordan Miller in Hump Day: what is your community's mission statement?
Happy Hump Day, team! In September, we're launching our refreshed website. You're going to love it! (Hopefully) it will inspire others to start their community building journey with us.
We are working on our new homepage right now, and one thing we're discussing as a team is Invision Community's mission statement. Per Forbes, a great mission statement answers:
What do we do? How do we do it? Whom do we do it for? What value are we bringing? If you visit our current homepage, you will see this:
    Successful Communities Start Here
We help businesses and brands of all sizes increase customer loyalty, reduce support costs and drive sales by building a vibrant community.

It got me thinking... have you had a chance to think of your own community's mission statement? If so, what is it? How do you tell members or someone visiting for the first time exactly who you are in 1-2 sentences? I'm interested to hear what you all have come up with. If you don't have one, this might be a great idea to make one, share it and get feedback!
Alright, now time for the juicy updates and fixes our talented dev team have accomplished in the last seven days:
    - Fixed an issue running a conversion on PHP 8.
    - Fixed a minor typo when processing an RSS import.
    - Fixed an issue where an automatically deleted notice may be shown on a member in AdminCP but the account isn't queued for deletion.
    - Fixed an issue where a failed file move could delete the filenames of Reactions.
    - Fixed editor becoming unresponsive when inserting attachments into the editor.
    - Fixed an issue where the AdminCP member list may be slow to load.
    - Fixed an issue where search statistics in the ACP can be slow to generate.
    - Fixed social login buttons not working on the register form when using quick registration.
    - Fixed an issue where saving changes to an Easy Mode theme might fail due to an error.
    - Fixed an issue with the REST API where it may be possible for hidden comments to be seen.
    - Fixed an issue where the health dashboard error log chart may not be accurate.
    - Fixed an issue where achievement excluded groups still show in the widgets.
    - Improved performance of hiding/unhiding/deleting topics.
    - Fixed an issue where Achievements notifications loaded via the REST API may be attributed to a guest.
    - Fixed an issue where deleting a product filter wouldn't delete all the language strings.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Shout-out to @Jimi Wikman for his post about a tickets system using Pages. Internally, we're brainstorming new ideas for the future of Pages. It's down the road, but we'd like to up our game. The more ideas you all have and share... the better!

Yamamura reacted to Dll in Native Lazy Loading - Finally fix scrolling topics
The thing is, unless the image sizes are specified on the page, it doesn't matter which method you use, the page will still jump around as it loads. So, instead of height: auto, as it seems to be at the moment, the height of image thumbnails really should be set to the correct number of pixels.

@Jordan Invision I think you should give more different names to topics. Or publish all weekly changelogs in one topic. It seems that many users, when they see the words "Hump Day" in the list of topics, think that this is one of the old topics and do not even open it.

    Happy Hump Day, team!
In case you missed it, we have a bumpin' topic asking for feedback/ideas regarding Achievements - we'd like to implement a few "quick wins" based off of your suggestions, so if you haven't already please check out that topic and submit a reply. It'd be greatly appreciated!
We also have a topic on the way regarding Spam Improvements - ideas you think would benefit the platform. Hold off on sharing those in this topic please - for now just think about it - that topic will drop on Friday so get ready
Because it's a new month, I wanted to focus this post on goal-setting. I know, I know, it's corny, but setting goals is imperative for community growth. It's hard to know what direction your community is headed in without them. You wouldn't hop in your car without a destination in mind first would you? (Unless you want to drive aimlessly, which is a goal anyway.)
What is one goal you'd like to have your community achieve by the end of the year? Drop it in the comments! It'll hold yourself accountable and will be fun to look back on in a few months. It doesn't need to be crazy - keep it simple! Looking forward to seeing them (don't be shy!).

    - Made a minor change to ensure the registration page is not cached by a web browser.

    - Fixed an issue where the notifications page could throw an exception while trying to return notification data from plugins or not existing notification extensions.

Hey team! Apologies for missing last week's Hump Day post; ya boy was off the grid enjoying a little family vacation. After a little R&R, it's time to turn back on the heat. 🔥😎

For me, it is not important which editor to use, but how exactly it will be customized by IPS.

The main thing I hope for is that IPS won't carry over all the same bugs that they added to the current editor and haven't been fixing for years. Such as the complete inability to delete mentions in mobile Chrome, for example:

    1620649541089.mp4
As well as get rid of additional overcomplications, such as replacing existing editor functions. For example, fast and easy URL embedding on clumsy and slow:

Yamamura reacted to Linux-Is-Best in CKEditor 4 end of life - alternative editor consideration
CKEditor 4 is reaching the end of life (source). Instead of jumping onto the CKEditor 5 bandwagon, I propose Invision consider an alternative editor. There are many well-established modern editors such as, for example, TinyMCE, Froala, Quill, and Redactor, to name a few. Any of these would make satisfactory alternatives.

CKEditor may be 'old school,' but it has become bloated, larger in file size and load time.  Most of the issues it encounters often have to do with responsive layouts on a mobile device and excessive load time. As mobile continues to dominate the landscape, I feel it may be prudent to focus on an editor development that has kept up successfully with the times with the least issues.

Changing the editor should not be expected in the next release. But a roadmap should be considered for a future transition.  Thank you for your time and consideration. 😀

    Fix dump:
Here's what we accomplished in the past week (new changes since last Wednesday's Hump Day post):
    - Fixed broken 3rd party ACP permissions on Cloud.
    - Added a new Spam Defense option to allow registration but require moderator approval of all new posts.
    - Fixed an issue where HTML logic of a page may be stored in the search index.
    - Fixed chunk uploading when using Amazon S3 with some S3-compatible providers.
    - Renewal invoice warning emails will now show tax included, if applicable.
    - Fixed an issue with Member Filters happening when members where filtered by subscriptions and purchases.
    - Fixed messenger link still displaying on profiles on mobile devices if the user does not have permission to access the messenger module.
    - Fixed an issue converting some types of SMF profile photos.
    - Fixed an issue where the width of the layout would stretch, caused by long strings of content.
    - Fixed an issue where Member Sync onEmailChange may be called before validation when changing email via validating screen.
    - Fixed a typo when flagging a member as a spammer.
    - Fixed an issue where the DeleteImageProxyFiles task would never finish or not update its progress appropriately .
    - Fixed an issue with the REST API where a GET request to records with a category parameter would result in a DB error.
    Important Method Changes:
    - Added a `$seperator` parameter to `\IPS\CustomField::displayValues` which can be used to define a custom seperator when displaying multiple values .
    - Updated method signature for `\IPS\Node\Model::getLastCommentTime()`.
    - Added a `$count` parameter to `\IPS\Content::definiteArticle/_definiteArticle()`. If an integer is passed, a pluralized phrase will be used, if available. You should add pluralized strings for any `__defart_*` strings you've already created. The key should be in the format `__defart_*_plural`.

I agree. But the mobile view needs additional changes.
    1. There is no need to display pagination, and buttons "2", "3" and "4" make no sense at all. Seriously, who will click these buttons and why? 🤦🏻‍♂️

    2. The words "replies", "view" and "updated" take up a lot of space and don't fit on one line in many localizations. They should be replaced with icons so as not to interfere with viewing and to save space.
