One additional follow up comment on this after using it for a couple weeks.
I hate it and it makes no sense to me. When people in my community search for something, they couldn't care less which part of the site it comes from. they want information about the topic of the search. Plus, they have no clue that my platform, IPS, has different sections titled Pages, Topics, etc...
We need the ability to tailor this search bar to our own needs.

Hi @InvisionHQ Any idea when Classifieds will be PHP 8 ready?

I would be cautious to judge who is the majority and minority based on personal experience. Services like Discord are ubiquitous in SOME circles, but even with their 150 million active users it’s just a tiny slice of the daily internet use of billions. If I would ask the 20 people closest to me, independent of age or background, I bet most wouldn’t even know Discord, let alone use it. And that reverses the argument of “why join a different forum when everyone is already on Discord”. Why even install that strange, unknown app when no one you know uses it?

My site runs on a dedicated server. I go through a very small company. When I call, they answer the phone and immediately help. PM me if you want details. The amount your spending is crazy.

Hint: Cloudflare works pretty well for full site delivery. It won’t cache the base pages associated with the board itself but can offload a large amount of requests.

You should be adding any custom CSS to the custom.css file instead of editing the CSS distributed by other apps. You'll only give yourself headaches upgrading them in future.

Here is my problem with what was done... You also removed the "Classifieds" css from the css tab which is not a core css to my knowledge and I need to add css to that file and now I can't!

Chris027 got a reaction from sbr in Is there a way to default search bars to "everywhere"?
I'd love the ability to change this. 99.9999% of my community members have no clue there is even different applications to search. They will search from wherever they are on the site, and the results they receive will be, what they believe, are definitive. However, they could be far less than definitive.

Chris027 reacted to Zapusto in Option to Disable Stats?
To IPB Staff (IPB staff only please)
I know this is likely counterintuitive to those who runs forums for profit. But it is somewhat important from a privacy point of view.
Is there an option to disable the tracking of statistical data (reactions, searches, etc) like you can do with emails?
For the better part of 20 years that we've run on IPB, one thing we've prided ourselves on is absolutely no tracking. No Google, invited members only, no social media tracking/usage,  etc. While again, I understand the reasoning some/most forum admins will find it advantageous, I'd prefer to fall on the side of respect for people's privacy.
Thus, is it possible to completely disable tracking -- and display in the admin, of statistics for the new searches feature (in particular)? I'd also like to see an option to disable other tracking, like Tag Usage, Keywords, and Reactions.
    Thanks.

Just to clarify, Classifieds is still compatible with 4.7.2, just not with PHP 8 and 4.7.2 together?

I think the real solution to this is to give us the flexibility to set it how it best fits our communities. One size never fits all.

I agree. People are used to Google or YouTube. They just type something in and expect to get relevant results.

Or (and in my opinion even better) make it default to search everywhere. If you get too many results, you can then narrow the search in the next step.

    Hello,
I'm starting to get used to the simplicity of the new search bar, but there's one thing that bothers me, although it's not a problem.
Desktop users are having a bit of a hard time searching because they aren't paying attention when selecting the location of content.

They end up not having a good search experience, due to a simple lack of attention. And it gets worse when your theme is dark.

Sometimes the user is looking for a video, but is in another app and ends up being filtered automatically.

    How to solve this?
Make the menu appear automatically when clicking on search bar, as it was in past.
So the user will quickly know where to look for your content.
