A new version has been uploaded to the marketplace. Changes include:
Redirected topics were included in the newsletter content. Fixed. Upcoming Events were not respecting the cutoff date. Fixed.

All I did was create a custom ad tag and insert that tag into the global template. Within the ad settings, I have it showing to guests only. I did nt use any IF statements.

It seemed to display more ads on mobile and it feels like it's slowing down the site a bit on smaller screens. I have everything on in adsense to show and it's too early to make a judgement so I'm going to continue to leave it up for a few days.

I would be willing to test if you like on one of my sites. All these little SEO tweaks in this topic (like this with tags) could really improve organic traffic.

@AlexWebsites I've done it before - for tests, I've improved the seo for tags and indexed well. I have a modified search.php file somewhere on the disk

Would be interesting to see how those forum sitemaps are formatted, what elements the topic pages include and how much of their topic page sitemap or part of the sitemap is indexed.

Just like I did on Classifieds, it is now available on LD for IPS 4.3:

More features and to make suggestions for the IPS 4.3, go to http://www.sosinvision.com.br/ips4/index.php?/forum/17-suggestions/

This is correct, but Google will not see that as a unique link for that post. It'll see that link as a unique link for that page, which is why it says "Page 5 -".

We do not provide direct permalinks to posts because there is little value, and you create duplicate content. vBSEO did (for a while) load a single post in a new window with a permalink, but that was back in 2008 and I'm sure it's moved on since then.

4.3 also uses 300 characters for meta description

@AlexWebsites, will send you a PM now with a new version so you can test. What was done:
    - Regarding APIs:
Switched from Webthumbnail.org to Miniature.io dropped Sneak.pw (it seems to be paid now but their site is TOO confusing that I coudn't even find the API to test it out in a trial) Fix the Thumbshots API Added 2 new APIs: Screenshotmachine: allows you to have 100 free screenshots per month. There are paid plans. Urlbox.io: paid service. - New settings:
You now can set how many links you want to show and define its ordering (random or links submission) in Display 'Other links from this category' block? setting. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me know if anyone else wants to try it out (since you have purchased this resource).

I agree with @opentype I don't think IPS changed much but what I do think is that there is room for improvement. Probably an opportunity for someone to come out with a paid app/plugin or two to create a more robust sitemap, add some additional SEO settings with more dynamic and adjustable meta tags to include tags, adjustable description lengths, bring dynamic keywords using tags, default keywords per forum, page titles, etc. Keywords may not be Google's thing but are still picked up by other sources. Interesting reads regarding description lengths in 2018:
    https://moz.com/blog/how-long-should-your-meta-description-be-2018
    https://searchengineland.com/google-officially-increases-length-snippets-search-results-287596
    https://searchengineland.com/google-fundamentals-writing-meta-descriptions-not-change-longer-search-snippets-288414
I haven't looked into the IPS code that controls the current cutoff but was interested in testing this out by increasing the current dynamic description tag to see if more info is picked up and weighted better.

I just started to review all these API and will probably replace them or fix the ones who can be fixed. The problem here is that the vast majority is paid or the free package is very limited.
Example: I just added Screenshotmachine. Works very nice but it has only 100 screenshots per month in the free plan.

@AlexWebsites, yes, all APIs handle SSL already:
    $apiUrl = \IPS\Request::i()->isSecure() ? 'https://' : 'http://'; $apiUrl .= "api.webthumbnail.org/?"; Except Thumbshots. Will change it to make some tests in a client's board.

I'm not saying your application is bad (yes it works), just the 3rd party thumbnail providers and I was trying to add my "2 cents" to the topic as well as my use of the rebuild tool. Just in case anyone wanted to know what frustrations some of us were experiencing. AlexWebsites did ask "Has anyone else ran into this?" and I was trying to say "yes" and here's what I did.
P.S. I edited my post above to be a bit clearer in meaning.

Good list but I am not for excluding topics with no responses. Most of the time the first post contains all the initial topic content and should index well as long as members aren't starting topics with a very low word count.

@Matt can IPS release the code that you used to add the timestamp, specifically into the topic sitemaps so we don't need to wait for an update?
Also, if you are running gallery, there is no image sitemap and only image page urls with no time stamp either. See: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/178636?hl=en

opentype, I fully understand your position, and it indeed seems nonsensical to think google would drop already indexed pages for lack of a sitemap. Thing is.... the Google 'Fred' algorithm update actually arbitrarily culled thousands if not millions of pages from google's index. not as any penalty for black hat, but as a measure to curb their own storage needs, and the only thing getting them back in google's index is the sitemap. It's not the lack of a sitemap entry itself causing them to be dropped, it's Fred that dropped them, and the sitemap as the main route of recovery.

I would agree that more templates included default would be good. I would also say that a few good front page templates would be great to see as well. Maybe share the https://invisionpower.com/ design or other responsive front page templates for beginners to get going.

Mainly the result of first patch already exist. Now google webmasters said 4 Jan - most oldest my sitemap file (actually all updated tiday, but google got it more frequently). Second patch with <lastmod> can provide ordering (last column). Now i can't see improvements by statistic. This big works for google get a lot of time and resources (and any update got it too). So need a more time. There is the graph of downloaded size per day

I see average goes up and this is good. Numbers in KiB (as legend said).
I'll post info here if i get some more intelligent proofs and results. Thanks you for your interest )
