I am not going to pay them for that either!! 🙂

The Old Man reacted to opentype in 4.5: Sign in with Apple
It’s a developer feature originally made for app logins and anyone creating apps for Apple platforms needs a developer account anyway. So for most (i.e. app developers), it doesn’t even make a difference. They don’t need to pay anything extra. I doubt Apple even cares about sales in regards to that feature. They created a developer feature and naturally added it to their developer program.

Nice video, nice feature! This is a really good start towards bringing Pages into the inevitable realms of being a proper Divi style page/site builder!
It would be really nice to extend this functionality to members who are Blog owners, enabling them to be able to add some much needed personalisation and individuality to their IPS Community Blogs.

This sounded great until I read you have to pay Apple for the privilege of being able to make use of it!
Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot? 🤨
Still, nice addition to 4.5, IPS!

The Old Man got a reaction from GlenP in 4.5: Simple Stock Photo Picker
Hi @Matt @Andy Millne
Please, pretty please, with donuts on, can you extend stock photos to include Unsplash for 4.5? Would be brilliant to have this choice built in on release rather than write a Marketplace mod.
Many thanks 🙏🏻

Nice little touches, and restricting a member from further topic participation is a thoughtful suggestion, could have done with that years ago when I had a more active community!

Good to have preview by topic, but one thing I'd say I've wanted more has been to restrict/ban a member from a certain topic, it would work better than every post going on preview if its just a certain member causing the problem. Any chance?

BTW, for all 3rd party devs...
This was implemented as a MetaData extension, meaning that you can utilise the feature in any of your apps 🙂

I will let you in on a little secret. What bought about the new feature Per Topic Post Approval was because of the corona virus topic on IPS forums 😄 lol

@The Old Man please share here or in PM your community URL and Im happy to help you suggest many ideas from my experience.
Long story short, your community should have
Valuable and/or entertaining/engaging content Above content should be locked for paid user after a free preview. Above content shouldn't be freely available with other sites and communities. -
The Old Man reacted to AlexWebsites in 4.5: Commerce Trials
Nice addition but if only they would go a little further to really enhance subscriptions. Just to again name a few...lol

I wonder if this is a new feature with subscriptions for a free trial period:

The Old Man reacted to SC36DC in 4.5: Introducing our updated default theme
Great work as always IPS. Love the focus on mobile, this is very important, as more and more people are visiting our forums on mobile these days.

This stands out to me: Is it possible to have the Follow text centered, even if the following count was in the thousands, there should still be enough room to keep the Follow text centered.
I was going to say also isn't possible to put the < Go To Topic Listing and the Next unread topic > on the same line? But would there be a circumstance where there would be more words for either, which I would then see how they both couldn't fit on the same line.

Good spot - that happens because on the invisible widget container above the main content. We’ll figure out a solution 🤞

This all looks amazing and so much neater, but there is one thing that really bugs me a lot - it's probably the designer in me - is the inconsistency of the side bar top alignment; see below:
The gap between the top of the sidebar and the topic header.
Yet here it is aligned perfectly:
I presume there is a reason for this, or is it an oversight?
I don't mean to be picky as you've done a fantastic job on the update, but this one little niggle is a bug for me lol

The Old Man reacted to Tripp★ in A call to arms for community leaders
We've seen some extreme growth on our site due to people being under lockdown and such. We're trying our best to keep everyone sane and entertained, but it is quite hard sometimes. Otherwise we're having just as much fun as our users, whilst keeping them entertained.
Another thing we've done is weaponised the community to using their computers to run the Folding@Home application, by turning it into a bit of a competition where our members can earn points (thanks to "Members Shop" application by @TheJackal84). We set up a team, had our members set up their usernames in the team and so on. To date we've churned through: 22,275,352 F@H credits and 936 Work Units, and everyone is feeling very happy for that. It's a bit of a morale boost to be honest. I highly recommend looking into it if you're a community administrator of your own community. 🙂

The Old Man got a reaction from Matt in 4.5: Topic view summary and more
Nice improvements to topic views, thank you!
What happens if you already have a sidebar with widgets on topics? Does it still show those blocks dropped underneath the bottom of the topic posts on smaller/mobile displays as it does now?

The Old Man reacted to Cristian Romero in A call to arms for community leaders
Hi there,
Community I have years with you we are really all in fear great panic.
If there really is above there is a god who will do everything to save his world, this one that makes it work like a clock.
My most thanks to all the staff Volunteers, Police, Health and other people who are at the forefront of the Virus,
Those researchers fighting against the clock to find a quick cure to the near-deadly virus that has taken thousands and innocent lives.
Without more I hope to return soon to like all of this wonderful community of forums and their staff that make them one of the best forum platforms.
A big hug from Spain ❤️
