/checkout and potentially /search should be disallowed by default. Seeing a lot of IndexNow requests for those pages. I've blocked it on my end but thought it could be useful to add to the default

Cool gif, I'll save it for the moment when IPS will officially support the dark theme for the frontend 😉

aia got a reaction from SeNioR- in Can you please please fix this
From my experience, I would recommend a tree view because a flat list would be unreadable with long names. I implemented it myself a long time ago for one of my websites (though not on IPS), and the tree view was much more practical.

aia reacted to was0009911231 in Cancellation of subscription not possible - support is asking me to provide passport copy to cancel?
Hate to vent, but my forum died. Long time ago, but I kept it alive thinking that maybe somebody one day would take it over and restart the idea.
But time has come, I don't want to pay another $40 for renewal. And here's where my problem started - turns out it is not that quite easy to cancel it. I heard about these gym subscriptions that are super difficult to resign and unless you block your Credit Card number and move out of the country, they will keep charging you no matter what.
Did Invision Power Board became one of these GYMs that you can never quit? I mean - why there is no button in the client area just to cancel? Why do I need to spend 3 days sending mails back and forth with support (and even now my subscription is still active?). Seriously? Security? My forum page says currently "closed down, because I don't want to pay anymore".
The problem is that to confirm cancellation request, I was asked to reply back from an alias, which I used to register my forum. Long story short - this is technically not possible. I use aliases with custom domains for various reasons (privacy mainly), and my ipb@mycustomdomain.com is not an alias I could use to reply back from (technically I could, but then again my obsolete email server does not allow me to setup rev-DNS requirements of google business mail, which IPB is currently using to server their mails, so mails from this server are always bounced by IPBs mailbox servers operated by google). So I am stuck.
Somebody from support then asked me to send them my government issued ID. This is where I am really confused, because - well... sending it over email with random dude just like that? In 2022? Do you have facility to process sensitive data? Are you qualified to manage passports? Is your gmail mailbox certified to legally process information like this? And to prove what exactly? They never asked my real name or address, so what would I prove them?
At the end of the day - I cancelled my card (it expired, coincidentally, but I cancelled it anyways because these things can still impact your credit score, when they bounce, right?). Now what? Do I really need to write posts like these to close this subscription?
What's going on IBP?

aia reacted to Stuart Silvester in What Elasticsearch version is supported well?
Yes, we tested Open Search (this community is using Open Search right now). As @13. notes, it currently uses the same API requests and returns the responses in the same format as Elastic Search.
I think in the future you may see Open Search become the preferred implementation (in general) due to the ES licensing changes.

aia reacted to Sonya* in Location-based advertisement distribution
I would go with Google Ad Manager or Revive Ad Server. There are tons of other settings you may need if you would like to run sophisticated ad campaigns. IPS will never get all the features the dedicated ad servers offer.

aia got a reaction from Sonya* in What Elasticsearch version is supported well?
From a technical point of view, there are no significant advantages yet.
In terms of licensing, the benefits are huge, so adoption of OpenSearch is growing rapidly.
It has much more potential for long-term sustainability than ElasticSearch.

aia got a reaction from Ravion in Use <details> and <summary> tags for spoilers instead of div
The Details and Summary tags are a modern and correct way to do spoilers.
It has many advantages over the IPS implementation of spoilers, including naming, accessibility, semantics and the ability to search hidden text in Chrome-based browsers.

aia reacted to KVentz in Plugin manager for CKEditor
Today adding new plugins to the CKEditor is a lottery: maybe it will work, maybe it will ruin the editor completely. No previews, no tests, no undo. If a plugin brake the editor, the only thing you can do is to reset it. And add all previous plugins manually again and arrange all the buttons again. Managing CKEditor plugins in Invision Community is a very implicit process.
I think Plugin manager for CKEditor will help many Invision Community customers who are not limited to standard CKEditor capabilities.

aia reacted to renanjeron in Remove LightBox Links from post images
This is something that has been bothering me for some time now. Why E V E R Y image on a post must be thumb nailed and posted with a lightbox link? WHY?
I know it is like this for long time now but still, it makes no sense to me. That would only make sense if only puts lightbox on images bigger than my upload limits. Not for smaller images like this one:
Someone knows anything that can prevent that? Some configuration that i didn't found it, any plugins, anything?
Thank you.

aia reacted to Dll in Sort out the most recent post link
Honestly, that makes no sense. Giving a guest a sub-par experience of a community is not a smart way to attempt to entice them to join.
There is already a link on the forum index page to the thread (eg the one linked from the thread title), so the link with the time on it is basically a duplicate in any case. Therefore there's no SEO or crawlability upside to having it like that, and no SEO downside to treating it the same as for logged in users, but with a nofollow.
