I ask one thing though, you have created the "Theme Differences" tool, because your team does not develop something similar for the language strings as well?
I use github to do this and upload .xml files, however, it's not a convenient thing....

You forgot: "In 5 years from now."
    And yes, i mean it.

Maybe they do, but they don't care. There are hundreds of community posts screaming for improvements but they couldn't care less. You're better off preparing for your funeral than waiting for a patch that adresses long standing issues. They simply don't have a big enough team to work on whatever they want + plus community requests.
5.x may address some issues, but you're better off not betting on it. Never take their word, there's still a ~3 years waiting list of other promises.
But what you can expect is another new re-design as usual. Because new looks and marketing sells best. Let's just cross our fingers that at least some of the underlying ancient code gets updated a long the way.

Askancy got a reaction from SJ77 in how can I stop the background processes?
    Hi Mark,
thankfully yes, otherwise my fee to pay for AWS S3 would have skyrocketed.... 😂
I used a drastic measure, clean the background actions thing table from the database. Definitely not the best choice to make, but luckily I had just changed php version to the server and cronjob hadn't started migrating data yet.
It would still be useful to have a button to stop actions with: Pause (useful when you have the server overloaded and one thing is not essential) and an Undo and Restore

    20.3.0 Available!
Removed un-needed csrf in url in ACP Journal Dashboard widget Added ability to reset highest CPU load in Server Overview widget settings FIX! Permission check on Admin Logs dashboard widget for admins not in the Administrators group Mostly just a few tweaks - no biggie. The reset button for the highest load point I added mainly because one site of mine had a failing VPS that registered a crushing load of 900%+ before it killed. No sense staring at that historic outlier in the widget all the time and once things are back to normal you'll want to see what the "new high" is anyways.
FYI the post above, we worked that problem minutes after the post. A particularly rare occurrence where, and I'll admit I'm guessing here as it's fixed, is that for a low level PHP call - disk_total_space (and probably disk_free_space as well), the account he was running Invision Community under would not allow you to hit '/' (aka the root directory). You can throw any directory at those commands and it will give you what you need (it is looking at the drive, not the space in whatever directory you point it at). Just changing the root slash to the directory where IC is installed resolved this. The stupid weird thing is he has another site running on the exact same server. No problems there. And - what has it been - nearly a decade of this stuff already, and this is the first time this has ever popped up. Wild.
The fix for the above is NOT in this release. Not really worth it to bug staff to kill the current submission (now approved)  when approvals are averaging a week-ish these days so this fix that effects pretty much one site will be a bit. I'm putting a few more safeties in places and gonna check my dev notes to see if there was anything small I wanted to throw in before pushing another release.

The problem is the recent release of IPS is not one I wish to install onto my board. Guess I'll just keep pressing "X" every 24 hours.
I completely agree. Seeing it every 24 hours is a bit much... it is up to us to either upgrade or not upgrade. It has nothing to do with a security update. It has to do with the release of the new forum release itself, and not wanting said-release installed. I could understand if a board were running 4.6 release, but not if one is still running 4.5 by choice.

I want to thank you all for your feedback. I appreciate everyone who took the time to leave their thoughts and concerns. I've read every single one and replied to almost all of them.
Firstly, I want to say that I understand that the messaging that went out ahead of this update fell short of what you deserve, and I want to apologise for that.
After spending two days reading every single post, almost all concerns fall into these three areas:
    1) The future of support
I've seen many people use the phrase 'no more support', which isn't true. I know the change from ticket support to staffed community support is a significant change, but I genuinely believe that it will benefit customers. I believe that we can create a living knowledge base of solved issues just like many brands do. For example, when I have a problem with my iPhone, I google it and invariably end up with a link to a topic within their support forums with a solved answer. I don't need to raise a ticket with them and wait for a reply.
There are many "what about" concerns mixed in, and I ask you to try the new staffed community support areas and give us your feedback once you've used it regularly. We will work with you based on that feedback and make improvements where it is needed.
We have custom functionality that shows our team links to your client accounts, including license keys, etc., so we know who you are and have all your information right next to the topic. You will never need to divulge personal information, or even your site URL if you do not want to.
If your support issue is complex or needs developer intervention, with a click of a button, our technicians can convert this into a ticket for you and we will continue to resolve the issue with you in that ticket.
You will be in safe hands.
    2) Price Rises
We have not raised our prices for well over a decade. We've always been reluctant to do it and held off for too long, resulting in a large jump to make up for a lost time.
We can't reduce the prices to their pre-September levels, but we will be much more mindful of price rises in the future.
    3) Annual Renewals
We want to simplify billing and reduce the number of invoices we need to send, and you need to pay. An annual invoice seemed logical to achieve this.
However, you have made it clear that moving to annual renewals affects your budgeting, and we have listened to that.
We have reverted this decision and have restored 6-month renewals in your client area. This is not a temporary one-off offer; it's a permanent change.
Again, I want to thank you all for being so vocal and passionate about Invision Community. We want to keep offering you the very best community platform to help your communities succeed.

Haha thanks, I've actually been lurking around here for almost 2 years now as a staff member! 🙂
Yeah, this is just for the Invision site for the moment. Version 4.5 included a pretty significant redesign, so I imagine we'll stick with that for a while before doing another revamp. When that time comes, if this new design is still appealing to our visitors, I'm sure we'll use it as inspiration for a new default theme.

This REALLY sucks here in marketplace too. File submitter should have the ability to delete the pending version. Here on IPS we need to waste our and moderator time by submitting a ticket to request to cancel and wait a day or two for it get deleted.

    $url = 'https://forum.***.it/api/core/members/1/achievements/34/awardbadge?key=***'; $data = array('$badgeId' => 34); // use key 'http' even if you send the request to https://... $options = array( 'http' => array( 'header' => "Content-type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded\r\n", 'method' => 'POST', 'content' => http_build_query($data) ) ); $context = stream_context_create($options); $result = file_get_contents($url, false, $context); return $result; in Rest API Log, it doesn't even appear to be making an API request.

Askancy got a reaction from Unienc in ipsTopicMeta for deleted posts in topic
Some topics to moderate, which in my absence, users also write 30/40 posts, many users contacted me to ask myself why some posts I deleted have disappeared.
Why not introduce a 'label', in which it is informed of the deleted post?
These could be useful for a lot of things:
Understand who deleted the post and maybe ask for information The user who reads the discussion understands why from one post to another we are talking about a topic that comes out of nowhere. Maybe insert an popovers with the motivation, if inserted.
