Does anyone know how to change the height of the shoutbox sidebar hook?

It's resizable like the wide one at the top of the pages is, but it may be a bit tricky to find the resizer element. If you put your mouse at the point here in my screenshot, you should be able to drag the shout area bigger and smaller.

Well I never. Thanks, would never have found that. Is it possible for me to hardcode something, else I think I'll be spending the rest of my days telling my users how to make the box bigger... (I saw some posts a few pages back about resizing, but it wasn't for the sidebar hook).

Hardcode what, though, the size of it?

Yeah, it'd be nice if the box could be bigger for all members, without me having to constantly explain how to make it bigger by dragging the (very hard to find!) arrow. If I could set it at a fixed height, then that'd be the end of it :)

But , will you make some new changes its been a long time , we want a private chat , and some more new additions

Shouting at me to "DO SOMETHING", seeing as how I took over this project just to ensure folks like you can keep using this app when 3.2 comes out, is pretty much the worst thing you could have tried to motivate me to add new features to this. As I've stated previously, I intend mainly to just ensure this app keeps working and to fix any reported bugs, I do not have any immediate plans for any big features like what you're asking. If you want to have a private chat with someone, PM them.

It looks like you'd need to find all of the instances of 132 in the source code and change them to something else, they're scattered in PHP, and javascript files throughout the app instead of being in one central location. You might want to put in a feature request to create a setting for this.

Not quite the simple change I was hoping for then! I'll take a goosie-gander and see what I can figure out. In the meantime though, I'll submit it as a request on your site.

:o How rude ! The man has done everyone a massive favour by taking the shout on..............get real and show some manners.

Thanks to Michael, without whom I would have been stuck many times in the past :)

Nice addition.

Just a few small questions.

I think I read somewhere that I can have it so that it automatically is open for certain times in a day and closed for certain times a day, but can't find that option.

Is there anyway to change the word "Shoutbox" in the main menu? And is there a way to not have that appear at all?

Very small thing here. I am using it on the right side column. There seems to be one space before the small icon next to the word Shout box on the shout box itself, this means that the icon is not lined up with the other icons. Any way to edit that?

Thank you

Thoughts on storing shouts as replies to a predefined existing topic (possibly one populated with only shouts)?

Be it as a duplicated copy of the regular shouts, or directly submitted into the topic.

I don't have any plans to do that, and I don't understand what the need is for that. Can't you already look in the archive to see old shouts?

No, that's not a feature of this application.

Which 'main menu' are you referring to, the navigation tabs? If you edit the application on the Manage Applications & Modules page, you can change the public title of the app to change the tab text, or hide the tab.

That should be reported as a bug in the bug tracker.

In addition to above, I have just noticed an error in IE.

I get the following message.

Message: "null" is null or not an object

Line 513

Char: 4

Code: 0

URL

http://www.website.c...ox.js?load=ajax

Any idea what is going on there?

Thanks

I can't reproduce that error, are you sure you have the latest version of this app and all of its files?

Hello :smile:

Is it possible to delete ajax refresh windows ? it's disturbing for my members to have this windows on screen all the time (i've set up refresh to 5s)

thank you very much for help

I don't understand what you're asking.

People typically complain shoutboxes steal activity from forums. Having shouts stored as forum posts would take the best of both worlds (like a floating topic).

No relation.

I'm speaking about this :

Is it possible to delete this windows ? my refresh rate is high and popup effect is not really cool.

Thank you for help :smile:

No, not without deleting it for every ajax action in IP.Board. That's not a Shoutbox message, that's an IP.Board message.

I don't have any plans to do this, it makes no sense to me. If you want the discussions on the forums, do them on the forums.

Michael, thanks for picking up the support with this especially with 3.2 looming to be able have a source for keeping it running. I am wondering if it would be possible to take the sidebar hook and port it to an ip.content bock? I like the sidebar hook but would like to use it any all of our custom pages and such but not at the top. Would be very nice to locate it where we want.

I'm pretty sure I only installed it a few days ago.
I tried deleting and re-installing but got the same.... even on a default install and not changing any settings.

:(

Thanks

Perhaps it's asked before, perhaps it's answered before but I have only one issue with shoutbox.
When I press my smileys tab, te smileycode comes first, then a big white space, then the smiley. This leads to scrollbar on the bottom of the smiley list. (have it in both IE8 as in Firefox)
My members do not care about the smileycode, they simply wish to click the smiley to use in their shout.
Is there any way to alter this?

Thanks

Ah found it myself. Altered skin HookGlobalShoutboxEmoticons into this:

<div id="shoutbox-smilies-button_menucontent" style="display:none;">

    <div class="full_emoticon">

        <table cellspacing="0" class="ipb_table">

   	     <tbody>

   		     {parse striping="shoutboxEmo" classes="row1,row2"}

   		     <foreach loop="$emoticons as $emo">

   			     <tr class="{parse striping="shoutboxEmo"}">

   				     <td class="shoutbox_emor short">

   					     <a title="{$emo['image']}" onclick='ipshoutbox.emoticonOnclick("{$emo['text']}"); return false;' href="#"><img alt="{$emo['image']}" src="{$this->settings['emoticons_url']}/{$emo['image']}"/></a>

   				     </td>

   			     </tr>

   		     </foreach>

   	     </tbody>

        </table>

    </div>

</div>

For those who have the same issue....here it is.

You can post feature suggestion here.

I'd need to see this on your site to begin to guess what the problem is. Please post a link to your site and a test username/password.

I have one more question.

If I do turn the top main nav button off, and a user turns the shout box to Off.... how would they go about turning it back on again?

Appreciate the help.

They'd probably have to enter the URL of the application into their address bar to go into the main application view, and then launch their My Prefs popup from there.

How to increase the height of shoutbox ? I've placed it on top of my board.

There's a drag and drop resizer right below the list of shouts, hover your mouse over this area until you see your cursor change.
