TrixieTang Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Because I doubt it's ready? ;) Around the beginning of the month they said they were making progress on it really fast, and that the skin was the main thing that had much left to be done on it, considering that, the fact the blog posts are becoming less frequent, the fact there are only about 2 months left, and the fact getting out of betas to a final gold version may take about a month at the least, really, they have to release the beta soon or the final gold version won't be released in Q4.
Black Prowler Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I agree with the above  Also keep in mind that IPS did say that they would upgrade this forum first once they are ready to release a beta. Going from past experience I would guess that Friday is a good possibillity for this all to start because IPS traditionally releases new versions on a Friday and being that they usually start the process around the Holidays (and Friday being Holloween :o ) it's a pretty good shot IMO. (Besides it would be a nice treat (w00t) ) I guess we'll all know soon enough....

The Blog entries have nothing to do with it really, they just don't have much to talk about. They talked about most of the big changes back in August, and now they are just going over 'Miscellaneous Features'. Its probably getting hard for them to think of what to talk about.

Yeah...right now a large portion of our days are dedicated to performance and stress testing, bug fixing, and tweaking and finishing skin areas. Hardly exciting things to talk about. We certainly haven't abandoned the blog though, and I smell a blog entry brewing.
Jaggi Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 We certainly haven't abandoned the blog though, and I smell a blog entry brewing. i think that smell is you again bfarber...

I think this is the first time in IP.History that a staff member has EVER publicly commented that a blog entry (especially a critical one such as this one) is / was forthcoming. Congratulations IPS, keep up the good work. Now reduce my warning level to 0%... (/wishful thinking)

bfarber Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Josh - you have a 0% warn level presently. It was zero'd out on June 11 of this year, it appears.
FrostedPopTart Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 Good, just making sure you didn't warn me (yet). Good bfarber. Now back into the basement to finish the preview! Or else no coffee and cigarettes for the weekend! *snaps whip*
Andrew-T Posted November 1, 2008 Posted November 1, 2008 I am excited about next week! Election Day and IPB 3.0 it be a nice week! And we get to break it to! :D

I never said you released on a Friday(although I think there have been a few of those in the past...can't remember which release it was...2.0, 2.1, 2.2.) However in regard to announcements I do remember seeing some of those on a Friday even if the release wasn't until the following week. I also specificly remember either 2.2 or 2.3 being released prior to Christmas (and I don't mean the day before but within a week or so of it.) ;) That was quite awhile ago so I couldn't be speciific unless you want me to dig through the archives of topics around here. :P Either way I did say there would be some sort of announcement on Halloween...and there was...give me some credit man
michelle82 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Hey, I am very excited for IPB 3, and I saw on the blog that some people had found the link to the Alpha...where can I find this link? Sorry, I have looked everywhere but can't seem to find it. Thanks!
Alex Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 No one has found the link to the alpha apart from the private testing team, I think that guy on the blog was teasing you

Or else no coffee and cigarettes for the weekend! *snaps whip* I quite smoking. :P And I cut my coffee intake down to 4 cups a day. Have to bribe me with something better now. :D I never said you released on a Friday(although I think there have been a few of those in the past...can't remember which release it was...2.0, 2.1, 2.2.) Everyone using IPB is going to want to update, practically, so our staff will be quite busy, and it's not feasible to do this right before a week long vacation (practically). No one has found the link to the alpha apart from the private testing team, I think that guy on the blog was teasing you  We have a few users that are helping tweak things and testing before we did the public reveal to make sure we didn't miss anything obvious. Other than that - there is no leaked alpha link (or there shouldn't be at least).

You're making me think too early here. :( Note to self: Do not read Brandon's posts at 6:30 am on a Monday morning.
W13 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 So starting tomorrow we can expect the preview release :-D I can't wait to try it out. I think I'm getting the "Package Tracking Syndrome" where I keep F5-ing all day long, just to see if IPB 3 preview is released yet or not.
Management Charles Posted November 3, 2008 Management Posted November 3, 2008 It is released now. There is info in the customer forum on what manHa is referring to.
