  1. I predict it will be released at the same time as IP.Board 3.0.2.
  2. Actually, speaking of shortcuts to upgrade, has IPS ever considered generating DIFF files so those of us who are able to can use the patch command?
  3. Use a simple tool called PuTTY (it's one file) and you just put your server address or IP in the Host Name box and click Open. It will need to ask if you trust it before you connect, and then just type your username and password.
  4. Stop being pretentious. If you don't like my advice, don't read it you genius.
  5. As I pointed out in another thread, there's a shortcut to upgrading if no upgrade package is available - see the post here.
  6. A short cut if you have Shell access (SSH) is to zip up all the files in the "board" directory (but not the directory) and then upload the ZIP onto your server via FTP, then using Shell, unzip with the -o switch (overwrite). If you don't have Shell access, cPanel's file manager also has an unzip function, if I am not mistaken. That's all I do every time. It's uploaded in less than a minute then. It's much faster to upload one large file than a thousand small files.
  7. Great! Now I have to wait up Tuesday, Wednesday AND Thursday nights!
  8. When is version IP.Board 9.5.1 coming out?
  9. Oh, the days of Perl-based forum software!
  10. The new ACP in the new 4.0 is very very similar in feel to the way IPB's ACP has felt and worked since 2.2 (tabbed menu). I'd have though that maybe they would go with a drop-down menu system or similar? Oh well. I guess whatever works best.
  11. I hope we're not going to have all the disgruntled vB users come here and start using our friendly forum to grumble?

    Final or RC3?

Ahhh, excellent! That's what I like to hear :) A good, third party audit!

    Final or RC3?

Are you guys going to do any sort of professional security audit before final release to check for major security holes that could have been overlooked?
  14. Oh come now, guys! I was just teasing a little. ;) I actually use both IPS and the other paid solution. Nobody really knows the final pricing structure of their software yet anyhow.
  15. Yeah! How dare IPS try to make a little money from their product? Now you can go pay $40 per annum with "other" forum software, as well as extra to upgrade to new releases like 4.0.
  16. I remember a few things on the internet - I remember in 1995 using a 14,400 bps modem using Netscape 1.0 in my first year of University. This was when the internet was still an infant. But previous to this in 1989, I remember using a state-of-the-art 9,600 bps in an Apple IIe to send emails to other kids in Portsmouth, England. We were the first school in Australia to get this privilege. Was a real buzz.
  17. I think that handy feature was introduced in version 2.1 of IPB. I'm not sure who was the original genius behind the idea, though.
  18. But we can say the date is "3-4 months" away?
  19. I thought the original skins were done by Matt, but I thought I'd better ask to make sure. So long as IPS doesn't sell out, I think it has a great future.
  20. Speaking of Rikki, when is he going to create an icon for active customers? That image placeholder is starting to depress me! Did he do all the skins from version 1 on?
  21. Can't please everyone, unfortunately. I think it looks great personally. Maybe it's something to do with his screen resolution or his browser?
  22. It's been said many times before by IPS Staff, but I will post it again here for you: it will be ready when it's ready. You can't really rush a good thing.
  23. *message failed, removed by poster* Grrrs @ bugs
  24. You must fix all the bugs before I am happy! Look at high quality, multi-million dollar software developments like Micorosoft Windows ... it has always been completely bug free!
