Random Registration URL
by Guest Pete- 5 replies
- 2.2k views
Everyone hates spam bots, but they only know where to sign up because the registration URL always stays the same! So... why not change the registration link on a daily basis and add an md5 encrypted string into the url? So the URL could be http://forums.invisionpower.com/index.php?...=edrg3434gRGrg4 instead of the normal URL. The up-side? Spam bots wouldn't recognise the URL in the template. The down-side? You'd need a little bit of code to create a new md5 string once a day and store the link in the database, then replace any references to the registration page url in the skin templates as they're loaded. The only way I can see around this is that anything after http:…

Make setting as default
by Guest Suyu- 5 replies

It'd be nice if we could set parameter as default. Example : In General configuration setting, if you change Board Name, it'll be red and suggest you button REVERT. Here I suggest the possibility to set a setting as default...

Profile "Most active in" and Forums that don't increment
by Guest .Jack- 4 replies
- 2.4k views
Currently, if there is a forum that doesn't increment a member's post count, it will still be inculded on the "Most active in" field in the member's profile (if it's their most active forum , obviouslly). I don't really think this should be the case because it misleads users into thinking that thoses posts have actually contributed to the user's overall post count, which isn't the case. Feedback?

Request changing display name
by Guest Suyu- 1 reply
- 1.5k views
Hi, I'd suggest a setteable feature "request change display name". You should set which groups could allow/disallow changements requests.. Well, instead of allowing direct change display name, it'd warn groups allowed (like admin, modo) to allow/disallow new display name. :P

Better user control over forum subscriptions
by Guest mechanica- 1 reply
- 1.4k views
Currently, automatic forum subscriptions are handled at a group level. Anyone who is a part of that group will be emailed when new topics are posted in a forum. However, the user has no control over it. It's an all-or-nothing approach that is controlled by the administrator, not the user. The current aproach is okay for certain situations and it has it's place, but it certainly isn't ideal for all cases. I'm running a user support and disucssion forum. I'd like to subscribe them to all forums initially, and then give them the control to unsubscribe from any forum that they don't want to partake in. Thus, I'd like to see a different approach. The algorithm would go…

Skin edit sugestion.
by Guest smor- 0 replies
- 1.3k views
I know every one would love this one. My idea is to make it easier to make edits on all skins. I mean when installing mods you are asked to make changes on all skins, what might be cool is a next skin botton so that you are in that same section on another skin. Instead of going back to skin manager and click on the next skin you want to edit and get to the template bit you need to edit. I know you can set up parent skins but I have seen where not every edit is transfered to all skins.

Super edit!
by Guest The Law- 6 replies
- 2.6k views
How about this feature, you know how there is quick edit a post now now? What if instead of having to click that you can just DOUBLE CLICK the post you made and it'll automatically change to a quick edit screen. You could also leave the quick edit feature for people new to the board, but eventually they'd figure out they can just double click their post and edit it that way. Similar to how you can edit topic descriptions if you're an admin.

Custom set warn's level
by Guest Suyu- 3 replies
- 1.8k views
I'd be fine if we can add/remove custom warn's level. Imagine if your board is set for '10 warns = suspend account'. So 1 warn = 10%. I suggest to add/remove custom % of warn, example +5% +15% for any reasons, and don't have this strict limit...

PM Subject Rename
by Guest .Daniel- 2 replies
- 1.7k views
I think a nifty feature would be allowing members to change the subject of recieved PMs (like a topic title can be changed). My PM box is full of generic titled PMs, being able to rename them would be of great use.

Charge a user to Post i.e "Pay to Post"
by Guest Webby007- 8 replies
- 2.8k views
 Hi, What would be great is to see as an option with Invision is be able to charge some one to be able to make/start a thread - so this could be good for Classified Advertising. Somethign like that. I thought it would fit nice in with subscriptions - or something like that 0 where it says "Duration" - then you can select " one post" - then a sub category under it for which forum to apply it to. Just an idea - this type of thing is only available through mods on older versions of the boards - so why not make it as a standard feature. Might draw some good attention!

Editable... details?

Group: Root Admin Posts: 2,436 Joined: 28-March 05 From: Vista, Ca Member No.: 2 We've all see that, cool cool and all but. I don't want some of this to show, mainly member no, and group (we have icons for that stuff). It would be nice if this was handled by the admin control panel under a setting. This is all skinned though isn't it?

Limit E-mail Notifications
by Guest eyedam- 8 replies
I would like to suggest an option for admin to limit the count of notification e-mails users are getting (per day/per month). I have a problem with members visiting the board frequently enough but still enabling PM and new reply notifications thus ending up getting the board to regulary send out a relatively huge amount of e-mail resulting in full mailboxes and some e-mail providers putting our site in their black list and rejecting our e-mails which creates problems for other members when confirming their accounts and resetting lost paswords. Thanks!

Bump On Edit
by Guest TestingSomething- 9 replies
- 2.9k views
Topics should be bumpable when someone edits a post. Or at least if the last post in it is the one whichw as edited. That way people will notice it. I personally think IPS has GOT to work on the report system too at some point where when someone reports a post it either freezes the post from ebing edited, or shows the entire contents of the post in the PM to the admin/mod. Thatw ay people can't change their post before it is viewed by staff.

Don't erase member-name (filtered by)
by Guest RogerKni- 1 reply
- 1.5k views
You usen't to erase the member-name after a failed search, but in your recent releases you've started doing so--accidentally, I hope. Unless there's a reason for this change, I hope you'll restore the old behavior. When I attempt a second search, I rarely want to change the member-name. Almost always I want to change the search keyword or the time period or the forums being searched.

Mass Ban
by Guest The Law- 9 replies
- 3.1k views
I find that most spammers on my site put similar things in the profile fields. Example many put "Google" as their "favourite show to watch" on my TV forum. If there was a way I could autoban everyone with "google" as their favourite show to watch, that would be really cool and save me time since these spammers register everyday.

sql toolbox
by Guest beeman- 2 replies
- 2.1k views
Not really a feature request quite the oppisite. the sql toolbox should bee removed compleatly (and provided as an acp componant). this would allow secority concious admins to remove the (potentally) extreamly dangerous toolbox without editing of files. especally scince the toolbox is usless for larger forums (or if you have phpmysdmin or direct shellaccess), but adding it as a default componant would allow smaller site admins to still access it.

View full sign up info in Validation Q
by Guest beddows- 1 reply
- 1.6k views
Due to the large number of spammer registrations, we have had to go to manual approval. The big problem is, you have to approve an accountin order to view the info they used to sign up. I have one custom field in sign up that only a legitimate user woudl be able to enter the correct info. This is the best tool we have to identify a spammer, most of whom originate in Russia. In order to see what they put there, I have to approve them, then go look at it, then delete them. A hassle. It would be nice to be able to bring up a full profile when the individual is in the validating Q.

In IPB 2.1, management > manage forums I can't mark few forums in admin panel and just select to delete them, I need to do that one by one. I wish that this would be possible in IPB 2.2

Position of the Outline-View-Tree
by Guest Holger Segnitz- 4 replies
- 2.5k views
Hello there, Stewart told me I should file this as an official Feature Request, so here I am: My users requested the Outline-Tree to be above the posts of the topic. It was that way in the forum we converted from. After some futile attempts to get help concerning that problem, I finally figured out, how to do that on my own. Thereby I found out that it shouldn't be that much of a problem to include this as a feature into the skin by adding a template-bit that could look like this: <div>{outline.originating.post}</div> <div>{outline.following.posts}</div> <div>{outline.tree}</div> With this, one could simply choose where to d…

Ident in the code
by Guest .silent- 3 replies
- 1.6k views
It is pretty annoying to see your code with random indent rules. One block may have spaces, while the next one has tabs. Such code is flowing left and right, making it hard to find what is where. Please, make the style identical in your code (at least in next version). It would be very nice. sorry for my bad english.

Ability to unsubscribe
by Guest robirming- 5 replies

Being able to unsubscribe from withing topics. I find it so strange that this is still not a feature. Please add it in. It's so boring having to go the My Controls detour just to unsubscribe. Not to mention the annoying You are already subscribed to this topic or forum. message when you thought you weren't already subscribing to the topic.
