ACP Restrictions -> Subforum

It would be nice to be able to tell an administrator that they can only edit one sub-forums settings, and all of it's children. Though a low priority feature, just an idea.

Improvement to recurring Calendar Events
by Guest Im4eversmart- 1 reply
- 2.2k views
Hi. I would suggest that you make it so when you are adding recurring events on the calendar that instead of just making them every week, month, or year, you could instead let the user decide if it could be every 5 days, or every 2 weeks, etc.

Improvement: Request Password Feature
by Guest sully- 5 replies
- 2.3k views
Hey, A sudden idea just came into my mind when reading up on some security exploits. I'm not to sure if this is a decent suggestion or not, but I thought I should pass it onto you guys to consider? :) Anyway, ill cut to the chase. At present the request password feature just generates a new URL where you go to reset your passwords. No questions asked. Just click the link in your email, and bobs your uncle. How about before this URL is generated, your asked a secret question (which you set on registration / UserCP) which you must answer before the URL is generated and sent to your email. Like they do on most sites with a new-password request. What ya think? :)

Out of Office system
by Guest bikerdave- 3 replies
- 1.7k views
How about an out of office system, that you could enable when you are going to be offline for a while. It could be for holidays, illness or other events that stop you getting onto your forum. An out of office PM could be sent automatically to the person trying to contact you, explaining that you're offline and redirect them to another admin/moderator or tell them when you'll be back online.

Subscription Manager Suggestion
by Guest SnowBlower- 5 replies
- 2.9k views
I currently use the subscription manager with the paypal gateway enabled, and whenever someone subscribes it moves them into a different usergroup correctly however, when they decide to cancel their recurring subscription it takes their special usergroup away even though they have paid for the entire month, is there any possible way to make it so it keeps them for the amount of time they paid rather than cutting them short and having to manually activate them again? It just seems abit stupid to remove someones entire paid amount of time just because they no longer want to subscribe recurringly. I know vBulletin does this how it should be done, so I know it's something…

Subscription System Improvements
by Guest Brandon C- 1 reply
- 1.4k views
The Subscription System implemented into IPB is a very complex structure and is a very nice feature. However, I feel that some limitations have set people back into looking out for and purchasing alternatives (such as Purchase It from Munjmedia.com, which I use and know several others do as well) that may get the job done better than what is in place currently. I believe it would be nice if IPS upgraded the Subscription System somehow and made improvements to it so people wouldn't have to go and buy alternatives (not unless they absolutely wanted to). I believe one important feature that should be added for the Subscription System should have: The ability to purchase a…

Probably only for very busy boards. But would be cool if the software indicated there had been additional posts since you started typing up your reply, so that you could go read em before hitting the submit button on your own reply. Hope that makes some sense

Automatic login after registration
by Guest Pⅇter- 6 replies
- 2.6k views
In ipb 1.3 days, after you registered you were automatically logged in, I know it was removed because of a security issue with the implementation, but I'd like to see the automatic logon function back, implemented in a secure way of course... It's annoying (more typing) and confusing (login box is quite confusing with the big red box, I wouldn't be surprised if it scared people away, haha :) ) to members that they have to login again after they just typed out a registration form...

More Member Reports
by Guest John Pozadzides- 0 replies
- 1.2k views
I'm in need of a way to generate reports regarding my organization's membership. Here is the overview. My organization, the Visual Arts Guild of Frisco, now uses IPB for our complete member management system. We take our member's dues payments online, and everything. I need a way to create reports for our board and chair persons (who have no access to the ACP) regarding the organizations membership. For example: Complete list of members, organized by member group, including all contact information fields.Complete member report showing expiration dates (who is past due, who is about to expire, etc.)Ideally I could just generate a .csv file or something that I could open …

Special Icons for Forwarded and Replied-to Messages
by Guest n-k- 12 replies

I think it would be great if messages you have replied to would be marked with a special icon in the overview, just like in Outlook. This would make keeping track of messages a lot easier, especially if you are an admin and get a lot of messages.

Subscription System
by Guest jenolan- 5 replies

OK we have been using the subscription system for a while now (only one pretty simple stuff). Going to change things around a bit. What I would like to do is close the current subscription type for new/renewals but leave the current suubs to die a natual death. I can see no way of having a subscription with current people but disabled, this is surely a must. Thanks .. Larry

Allowed search words
by Guest xoligy- 5 replies
- 2.8k views
It can be very annoying when wanting to search for something under 4 letters that doesn't really have an alternative. For example I wanted to search for info about IPB's API but since it's under 3 letters it wouldn't let me. Since 99% of forums don't change this limit it can be extremely annoying. I don't understand why you disallow the words in the first place rather than just limit the results that will be shown. Anyway, my suggestion is to make allowed words which overcome this limit. Or if search has a word which is under 4 letters but also contains a word over 4 letters, the search is still caried out.

I think a cool expansion on the current ability to 'collapse' categories, would be the ability to customize your board-index view.

Loadbalancing loaddistribution solutions
by Guest athlonkmf- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
I have a fairly busy/large site where a Dual Opteron system just didn't suffice anymore, therefor I've been doing modifications of IPB myself for a year to enable load balancing with IPB. I am using 3 servers. 1 main server that holds the database and website. 1 search/images server and 1 fileserver/mirrorserver. Databases are replicated from the main, and files are synced. Anyway. IPB as it is now does not have much "features" that would enable the users from distributing load. Maybe it's time to think about the bigger users of IPB and enable some stanard features which could help out at balancing/distributing the load. (besides the "external images"-urlsetting. But …

As I just noticed this was doable, A feature to allow moderators to edit the polls questions but not the votes would be nice, and also A log in Moderator Logs showing the poll was edited too, since thats currently not being added.

Anti Double Reply Option
by Guest .brad- 6 replies
- 2.6k views
Hey guys, Im not sure if this was previously brought up, but there really should be an option to allow/disallow double posting in topics. If it is disallowed, and the user who is viewing the topic is the last poster in the topic, it should have a message appear saying "Sorry, you were the last user to post. Edit your post to add something in if you wish" instead of the quick reply textbox/full reply page. Just thought I'd chip in.
