Invision Community 4: SEO, prepare for v5 and dormant account notifications By Matt Monday at 02:04 PM
.brad Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Hey guys,Im not sure if this was previously brought up, but there really should be an option to allow/disallow double posting in topics. If it is disallowed, and the user who is viewing the topic is the last poster in the topic, it should have a message appear saying "Sorry, you were the last user to post. Edit your post to add something in if you wish" instead of the quick reply textbox/full reply page.Just thought I'd chip in.
Rikki Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 This is already a feature that can enabled/disabled :) If you reply to a topic and you are the last poster (within the time limit you define, I believe), it will just append it to the end of the previous post :) e.g.... This is the end of this post. This is me posting another post...
.brad Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Oh, thats great! I had always thought there was a reason why this wasn't implemented, not knowing it was an option. :PThanks for replying, Rikki. :DTest
Luke Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 On the flip side, here's another suggestion:This "merge" option is a global option for all users. As an administrator, sometimes I want my posts to not be merged (like front page annoucement that appears on portal, then I make a note). But then again sometimes I find it useful because it's faster to reply again and have it merged than going back to edit my post (to keep it one). So it would be nice for super moderators (or higher) to have the option while posting to not have the posts merged. Like a check box that says "Do not merge with previous posts" or something like that..... When I dont want my posts to merge, I find it quite anoying. I have to go into admin cp every time and turn it off temporaraly just to get two posts seperate. Normally, I have it on a crazy number like 720 minutes (when default is 10 minutes).
Digi Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Yeah, I too have found a need where I night need to make a seperate post. Albeit, when they do get merged it does cause the topic to be marked new and such, there are still some occasions where multiple posts are what is needed.

Rikki Posted July 15, 2006 Posted July 15, 2006 I don't recall seeing this feature in the ACP. Where is it?It's in Settings -> Topics, Posts and Polls, and the setting is called 'Merge member's concurrent posts' :)
