Board Message Bloated?
by Guest Voltemort- 2 replies
- 2.4k views
I'm sure someone will have noticed that - the board error message looks kinda bloated. I mean, why have a "Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.", then a "The error returned was:" and then the actual error? Why not replace "The error returned was:" with "Sorry, an error occurred. If you are unsure on how to use a feature, or don't know why you got this error message, try looking through the help files for more information.", or do whatever, as long as board messages look neater. There are 10-12 different rows in it, that's just too much!

PM Logs
by Guest JeremyM- 2 replies
- 2.6k views
Not really sure if this has been requested before, I am betting it has. If it has well it's important, if not well here ya go... Simply put, "PM Logs" just like email logs. To see what users PM to each other. I don't see any problems in this other than privacy, but anyone can see the pms already...this just makes it easier to view them.

by Guest karsa- 8 replies
Hello :) I know... Maybe you won't answer my question, because many people ask it, but... :D I have to change my host on the middle of July, and my new host is one MySQL 5.x... Just want to know if the release date is nearly here, or not, and if not, if you will give just a little patch to make IPB 2.1.6 work with MySQL 5.x. Sorry one more time, for my english first, and for my question... >_< Sorry too, because I'm sure I didn't put this topic in the right forum........

Warning emails
by Guest ellawella- 7 replies
- 2.6k views
When a mod warns a member and chooses to contact them via email, the member will receive the email as if it is from the mod, i.e. with the mod's email address. I suggest that future warning emails like this are sent from the board's outgoing email address.

Topic prefix by forum This can be a selectible feture in the post topic form This will be good for those that like to have tutorials but don't want to install a tutorial system installed Number of members viewing forums Main index Better IPB Portal something like the portal System fo…

Emoticons
by Guest JeremyM- 0 replies
- 1.4k views
I am pretty sure that this was a feature in the earlier boards, but I can't remember. Anyway I wish for the emoticons to be accessed by multiple bbcodes(?). Anyway like the :P one on 2.1.6 boards can only be represented in one way (defualt is ) but I would also like to have an option to add a second way to access it so that you don't need to upload two of them. So if you want to use that emoticon you can access it multiple ways :p, :P, and .

Update all RSS Imports should ignored disabled ones
by Guest softwarenerd- 2 replies
- 1.6k views
We use about 10 RSS Imports into our forum. We also have some that are not enabled. Sometimes these are in there simply because we might want to re-enable them and don't want to remove them and then add them back later. 1) Right now, one can manually import all, but this also imports the disabled ones. It would be nice to have another option that says: "Update All Enabled RSS Imports". 2) The other thing that would really help would be to say (for a particular feed), "RSS Item Creator is Forum Author", because we have some feeds like that. [Though, even better would be to be able to specify a list of Creator names and map them to Forum Member-names under which the ne…

Clickable Forum Headings
by Guest elj- 3 replies
- 1.7k views
It'd be great if you could click the headings such as 'Title', 'Replies', etc. in forum view and have it order the topics by that criteria, and then click it again to change the order. Sometimes I want to list topics by the largest number of replies descending when I'm looking at a forum, and this'd be a nice way to do it. :)

Lofi - Access by mobile device.
by Guest JeremyM- 4 replies
- 2.2k views
Was reading this topic over at IPS Beyond and if it hasn't been suggested before then well, why not make the Lofi-Version into a forum accessed by mobile devices. I don't know what will be needed to do this but I can see this as very useful. Also by mobile device you can post/check pms, not just read.

I think it would be good to find proxy hosts and ban them if they give an issue. Say you have someone's root IP address you can see it through a proxy and ban that Proxy

ipb still has bits of html hardcoded which would be useful if it was
by Guest BRamburn- 8 replies

ipb still has bits of html hardcoded which would be useful if it was converted to template bits. Like for example in func_boardstats.php around line 200 there is "<a........." tags and i was thinking of removing $last date to the users group name without php editing.

justxpl - Not Hacking Just a Suggestion
by Guest Tiptup300- 2 replies
- 1.8k views
Ok, as you probably know, there is a exploit that allows users into the server, but while doing it, it creates a topic called "justxpl", couldnt you just make a fix that when posting a topic it checks if the name and subject are "justxpl" and it blocks the topic and imforms the administrator? I know this is VERY easy to bypass, but I'm sure a lot of newbs will be discouraged and quit. Your software is great, I dont use it anymore, but most of my favorite sites use it.

Show/Hide Content
by Guest MasumX- 3 replies
- 2.5k views
This would be a great help for dail up user. What I am trying to say here is that, it would be cool if you can reduce the image showing in every post and topics with show/hide content link (esp in quote). Instead of showing it normally the way it is now. Also rem user selection for later :D Show/Hide Image with + - :D Good Suggestion for IPB 2.2 or 3.0

Error on IPB "Customer" Link
by Guest McQ- 6 replies
- 2.7k views
I've been getting the following error for the past two days whenever I click on the "customer" link on the IPB homepage: --------------------------------------------------------------- Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/invision/public_html/customer/core/sources/classes/clientarea_login.php on line 694 -------------------------------------------------------------- And yes, I realize this is not a support forum. But I get to the support forum (and other stuff) via the "customer" link. Can anybody tell me what is going on? Thanks...

Improving search engine spider / bot visibility
by Guest artfreaks- 4 replies
- 2.7k views
I have been monitoring referals to my website for some months now and it seems that the only search engine derived traffic I am getting is to either my HTML pages or my Coppermine gallery. I have not detected one single hit to anything on either of my two licenced Invision Forums / Gallery / Blogs installations. My Art Forums have had quite a lot of content, for some time already - so I would have expected at least the odd hit from search engine derived traffic by now? In an effort to sort out the reason for this, I had a look at my ACP / Tools and Settings / Search Engine Spiders On the setting for "Force spider/bot to use skin" it says: "This is useful as you ca…

It would be nice if you guys make PDF manual or guide for administrators and moderators that will explane in details how this board work. This is mostly because of new moderators to help them become familiar with forum. Or even better is to make short video clips...

Forum markers -> Ajax
by Guest Logan- 9 replies
- 3.8k views
Bring back the AJAX forum markers that were in the early 2.1 betas, not sure why they were removed. I remember Matt saying they'd be re-added for 2.2 or 3.0? Would be nice to have it for 2.2. I really dislike the page refresh when marking a forum as read.
