Report Profile
by Guest Morrigan- 14 replies
I know we are getting an all new report manager but I was thinking about this as I saw a new member on this site called "DownloadRingtones" (not linking as I'm sure it might be deleted soon) but it would be nice to report accounts that seem like spam accounts (ones that the admins don't catch or don't see). This also could be good if there is ill content in things like the "About Me" page that is only seen in the profile etc.

Mod CSS
by Guest Jaggi- 4 replies
- 1.2k views
I would like the ability to have CSS files that are part of your mods/applications. So instead of trying to import it into the bottom of the current ipb one you could have a css that is loaded just when it loads a page out of your application. This would be a good addition imo as with the ip.tracker we have a template with all our css in it which we load but being able to have a css file related to that mod would be much better, maybe extend this to js files too?

Search -> Advanced Search
by Guest Brandon D- 5 replies
- 1.2k views
If I type keywords in either the search box or in the "simple" search form and decide last second that I need more options, retain the keywords and automatically fill it in when the advanced search form appears.

The age old debate! :) Personally it's something I'd like to be able to use. I've had an incident on my forum where I suspected a new member was sending abusive messages to other newbies and I had to go looking for them. I was right and they were banned. It's understood on my board that PMs can be read if the need arises and no one has an issue with it as it's just another form of moderation. I know some people are really against this and some are really for it. Either way I think it would be a valuable admin tool. I'd be interested to hear everyone elses opinion on this...

Options Options Options (Page Title option)?
by Guest Morrigan- 9 replies
- 1.3k views
Its come up time and again, its now re-brought up in the general chat but I thought I'd suggest it because having to update it manually every upgrade can be un-amusing and actually tedious. An option that you can choose the Index Page Title to change it from "(Powered by Invision Power Board)" to whatever you want without a file edit and not have to change it every time that you upgrade.

There are two big features that I would find very handy. 1) Force all members to reverfiy e-mail addresses. I've had IPB for 5 years now and we have thousands of members. I can no longer run Bulk E-mail without getting hundreds of bounces. We use bulk email for our rare newsletters. Anybody failing to reverify their email should be tossed into a group of the admin's choice. 2) Force members to reverify their registration agreement on next log in. From time to time, Registration agreements change. This is especially true of corporations. Again, members that don't agree should be put into a different group of the admin's choice.

Email sent when admin changes password
by Guest Amy T- 3 replies
One of the issues I have some times is I need an email to be sent when I reset some ones password. Normally so an email is sent I change the usename as well as that has the option to send an email and I just edit the text to include the new password.

I'm just full of ideas (moderation queue)
by Guest Morrigan- 7 replies
- 1.3k views
I just found this out from one of my newly made global mods and thought it was sort of sad that I couldn't change it (because it happens to admins too) but there should be a way to override the default bypass moderation queue (Globals and Admins). Example of use is a nomination forum that I have but don't want anyone but staff to see the posts and if a global or admin post they must hide their post which, if you forget, can have bad consequences.

Another ACP suggestion
by Guest Morrigan- 11 replies
- 1.4k views
I know/hope the ACP is going to be re-vamped but I thought I'd put this out there for you as I just ran into this problem a few minutes ago. I think the ACP should have a search option for min AND max posts not just one. I also think there should be a way to mass edit members. Examples for both I need to find members between certain post ranks (500-1000 in this case) and mass change them to a new group I had just made. One good thing is that I didn't have many members in that range but the bad thing is I would have either had to mysql it or (like I did) manually edit each account. Just thought I'd put that out there.

Good day, It has been some time since my last renew, thing to confuse tho, when you have credit info in your profile, and click the box, as it said, payment will be dome or something. Then, I found to complete the issue, need to see your invoices to complete it, as these steps: 1 - New Purchase, then select, then "mark" the box to complete the (when I tought I am done) 2 - Your Invoices - Pending - (Pay Now). SO, what the point of step one "mark": By clicking the button below you will be ordering this product, if you have a card on file it will be charged for this purchase. Please check this box to acknowledge you understand this. My best

"Good" Reporters' Reports are valued more than "Bad
by Guest W13- 7 replies
- 1.1k views
I want to encourage all members to REPORT well and accurately. Some people keep going on a 'reporting spree' - just reporting random stuff. SO: all members should have this info stored with their user-id in the database: "total # of reports submitted" "total # of accurate reports" "total # of inaccurate reports" And you just divide to get an accurate % ... and people with 100% accuracy and a high # of total reports can be selected as Global Moderators (will make Admin's jobs easier) ================ Also- if somebody with MORE # of accurate reports sends in a report, it'd be nice if that is highlighted somehow...

Permission masks
by Guest Morrigan- 1 reply
When you set specific masks in a category they should be the only ones appearing in the setup screen OR have a next screen that you can setup permissions so it recognizes the forum masks available. Its obnoxious/tedious to setup masks on a per forum basis when you always see all masks no matter if they are not available on that forum.

When you set permission masks it for categories it would be fabulous if you didn't see the other masks. I don't know about anyone else but when setting up permissions my eyes go all wobbly with all the check marks I need to do especially when I don't have certain masks for that category.

Will I need MySQL 5 to run 3.0?
by Guest Bamfer- 7 replies
- 1.8k views
I have a question. Does my webhosts have to run MySQL 5 in order for IPB 3.0 to work? I've been reading on here about a lot of effort on the coding side for 3.0 to take advantage of MySQL 5. My concern is that there are other sites running scripts on the same server my site is on that may not work with MySQL 5. My webhosts at the moment are not running any of their servers with MySQL 5 yet. They still run MySQL 4+. Question, will my board work 100% if the board is still running MySQL 4? Or will the board miss some cool new functionality with 3.0 if it requires MySQL 5 to be installed? Thanks!

The case for a cart in I B 3.0?
by Guest Leone Club- 17 replies
- 2.7k views
A shopping cart will be quite handy in an IB for a number of reasons: Most owners of community boards do so with private funds. After a while the cost add up. With a shopping cart capability owners of these boards can offer related merchandise. With more money in the hands of owners the more likely that they will continue to pay-up IPS license fees. Members of these boards will also have the opportunity to contribute in the form of buying available merchandise. Sell of souvenirs can also help promote these communities. etc. If you look at the big picture it will all add up to more sales for IPS.

I have added a few alternate contacts (my co-admins) those that can act technically upon my behalf but when a confirmation of their account was sent to them (though I understand I setup the account) a useername (the email address) and password are not sent to the alternate contact, those fields are blank I'm not sure WHY they are blank, being filled would save time for the customer that added someone that knew they were being added the time of a PM to fulfill a email and password message.

Word Filters per forum
by Guest Lewis P- 3 replies
I'm going to use an example here that won't cause the filters on this board to kick in :P Say that I have 'bye' filtered in my forum to become 'goodbye', but I only want that active in one forum. That cannot currently be completed. What I personally feel is that word filters should be on a per-forum basis, not a whole-site basis. Thanks :)

Please make it possible in IPB3 to Convert from IPB to VB
by Guest awaisuk- 13 replies
- 2.7k views
Please make it possible in IPB3 to Convert from IPB to VB WITH Passwords being transfered. (Change password structure) Right now if people convert from IPB to VB there users have to use the FORGOT password feature in order for their account to work again. Please make the password system so it works with VB when converted. Thanks.

View New Posts
by Guest TrixieTang- 10 replies
- 1.8k views
One of the few things my members haven't really liked since we converted from vB is the "View New Posts" feature. Some are saying that it's not showing all new posts, and it's definitely a different from what we're all used to. Any chance that View New Posts can be revised in 3.0 to be more of a Show Threads With Unread Posts feature, all new posts are shown, then all posts that are unread (not necessarily new) are shown below?

Registering 1 2
by Guest TestingSomething- 25 replies

I don't know what can be done on IPB's end, but it's very often that I notice someone register on my site and then register again within minutes and neither time does their account get verified. i can only assume that it's because they aren't getting the emails. Maybe it's going to their junk mail, but I've noticed with other forum software's emails they seem to go to the proper inbox more often than IPB ones do. Usually it's said that none of it's on the forum software end because it simply sends an email the way anything else would. However, it's very noticable that IPB ones are less likely to go to inboxes. So something is up with that... If there is any way at…
