I doubt this is possible & or would be done, but here's an idea as I was reading the recent interview of Matt: Different software packages depending on the hardware -- basically multiple IPB packages for the different (base) server configuration. Meaning one for Apache servers, one for the others (that mainly get used) -- I mostly just know Apache. Just an idea:P

I have read that some of the issues I have on my 3.0.2 board will be fixed in 3.0.3 Any hint as to when 3.0.3 will be released? Or is there a way to have the individual issues fixed?

I'd like to suggest that you add a special HTML characters menu to the editor, like the smileys menu. For example, I'd like to see commonly used characters in the dropdown and all characters in a side menu. The editor currently doesn't allow these codes to be entered using their friendly name (you must use the numeric version) to get such symbols: ¼ ® © ° Maybe the menu only needs the codes that have friendly names. Anyway, see this link for a complete list of codes supported by all browsers.

In addition to the option to use HTTPS for password pages, I'd like to see an Admin CP setting to allow the user to access the board using HTTPS all the time (a per member preference). Also, I'd like to have a setting to force all users to use HTTPS. Also, the Admin CP should be accessible only over HTTPS (by a setting). This is the way my GMail company email works and some users would like to have the added security of accessing a board over HTTPS. I know HTTPS slows things down a bit and puts more of a load on the server, but I think it should be a supported option (especially for corporate forums or forums where content access is only by login and some content is …

Hello! We would love for there to be a way that once a password-protected forum has been opened, a member can lock it again without having to log out completely and re-enter all the passwords for the forums she DOES want to keep open. Sometimes someone wants to check something in a locked forum but then re-lock it, and currently the only way to do that is to log out completely, re-locking ALL the password-protected forums. I realize this is a cookie issue, but is there any way to add a button to a locked forum that members can click on to delete the cookie for that forum? Is there any way to specify which groups can delete reports in the Report Center? I'd like to make it so that only the Admin group can actually delete reports, as I always want to see reports before they are nuked. Unfortunately, sometimes moderators delete reports before I'm able to look at them. I just asked them not to do that, but that's not infallible. If there isn't already a setting for this, could one possibly be added? Thanks, ..Al

A New Request to IPB 3.0.3 I couldn't find any function that allows me to "delete 'X' private messages after a period of time/days. I would suggest (if the member does not want to delete all his important PMs) then to send him a mail notification with his posts (in HTML format / EXCELL / Etc...)

Hi, A couple of months ago I switched from IP.Board to WBB 3.0 and since IP.Board 3.0 is released now I thought I might try to switch back to see if the new version is worth it. So I tried the new WBB 3.0 converter yesterday. The IP.Board 3.0 and converter installation went well and then I started the converting process one item after the other. Everything worked fine until the post conversion. It always was stuck at about 9200 posts from 11000. After waiting for an hour without any progress I checked the status in the admin panel again and it said that the conversion had errors. 3.0.3 - Please make IPB 3 more lighter and faster Please make IPB 3 more lighter and faster so it runs fast on shared webhosting aswell. Right now for a busy forum IPB3 needs dedicated server, where as 2.3.6 could run fine without any problem. 3.0.2 solved some of the speed issues, but please make it more faster. Thanks.

Hello, I have wondered why don't you put the whole translation inside the language strings? It's hard to find words (such as 'Max.'), most of them are in the files, and the rest are in the language strings as it should be. I completely understand being swamped with assistance requests, but I've submitted a ticket and going on 12 hours later, no response. I hate to be that individual that says, "for the amount I paid, I'd expect better customer service." Unfortunately, I'm in that situation. I am needing a tutorial for the 3.0 IPB. Where can I find one? I stumbled my way through 2.6 well enough to know the basics of what HAD to be done. Now I am totally lost! One thing I need to know is how to add a custom profile field under the contact section. I tried to add Facebook under those tabs and it showed up for me (an admin) but not in the profile options for members. I went back in and changed it so that members could edit it, and now it shows up. However, when I went in and put my Facebook link in there, I had to highlight it, copy, then paste into my browser. This may open a can of worms, but here goes. I was thinking this morning about how I could get some of our talented forum members to work on creating new skins for IPB 3.x, but dismissed the thought because in order to do that, I would either have to grant them Admin privileges to a test setup on the server, or give them copies of the forum software to install on their own computers. Neither method would be good for anyone. Working on the server could be a problem if one user inadvertently changes something done by another member. Chaos, not good. Distribute copies of the software? Boy is that an invitation to even more chaos and blacklisting by IPS. Not goo…

It is possible to increase the number of characters in the description of a topic ? I increased the number of characters in the mysql table to 250 and the html of my template >> "postFormTemplate" changed from 70 to 250 as well but after submitting the post, just the first 70 characters of the description are sent to the database. in mysql database description is 250. I'd like to have the ability to add a caption to each attached file (after the upload, but part of the post form) that would be shown instead of the "filename, size, downloads" default caption. If you are uploading a set of photos, it would be nice to be able to describe each photo individually (so the caption shows when viewing in the lightbox). The caption input box could appear between the filename and "Add to post" link when the uploaded attachment appears in the Attachments list. If the poster doesn't enter anything for a caption, then the default "filename, size, downloads" would be used.

I'd like to see some sort of support for uploaded video streaming added in IPB. That is, if the user attaches a video file to the post, the video could be processed into flv or H.264 video (using FFmpeg - which would have to be installed by the server admin) and played in a free third-party Flash player (like the JW Player). FFmpeg could be used to generate a thumbnail for the uploaded video to show as the attachment (like photo thumbnails do now for photos). Video streaming is becoming a standard feature of many sites and I see no reason that it shouldn't be supported by IPB like photos are supported. There doesn't appear to be any way anymore for third party applications to interface with the ACP help system: the section at the top of each ACP page that says "Get Help With This Page". It would appear that is now set to always just look and see if it can find content to grab from the http://acpdocs.invisionpower.com/ page. That does make the system cool in that you guys at IPS can update these docs and the help we get on our sites gets immediately updated on the fly, but it means that third party guys like myself have no ability to tie into that. Are there any plans to either let us add to this database or have some other way that we can hard-code in our own help t…

Hello, I bought the IP Board software approximately six hours ago. I've dug around in the client area quite a bit, but the downloads area just gives an error and the invoice is considered pending. It has a support ticket on it and the ticket number is #597002. I was expecting to be able to download right away after payment was received, but that didn't happen and I've been checking back since then. This is my first time buying here so I mainly just wanted to know if this is common and if it is, how long it usually takes. I'm willing to wait a day or two if necessary. I'd like to see you add image cropping for uploaded personal photos like the Gravatar site does. See http://deepliquid.com/content/Jcrop.html for some JS for doing this. Currently, many people are not savvy enough to crop their photos before uploading them. Currently, IP.Board scales the image, but sometimes this doesn't result in a good photo. Cropping with image preview like gravatar.com is a good way to improve the set of personal photos on a board.

Well... I've seen you've added the documentation system in ACP... that's good! you start giving documentation... It would be very good if you can FIX the help pane like in Excel that you can fix a number of rows, so when you go down the help pane maintains fixed... for example in ACP --> System --> System Settings --> System --> Security and Privacy is full of options and when you need help of a function of the bottom you must return to the top, and so on... The problem of this help system, is that it will be VERY difficult to find some unknown characteristics that should be easy to find with a PDF or printable PDF...
