Just a simple suggestion, but could a "Automatically Rebuild Posts" option be made available as a Task in the System Scheduler? Maybe have it disabled by default. My forum is heavily post count based (For Permissions, Updates, Subscriptions, etc.) as that is all that is available to use as an upgrade option (Usergroup to Usergroup, etc.) by IPS. It would be nice to be able to enable a task that auto rebuilds. As well, and auto Recache feature, which will automatically recache the entire website. Disabled by default as well.

On the Manage Custom Profile Field Groups screen, could you please add the option to re-order the groups? At the moment you can only edit, delete or add new groups, but you cannot re-order any you add like you can with the profile fields themselves!

You know, 14 hours is far too long to just let a ticket go without even bothering to respond to it. Of course, during that time, I was able to find and handle the issue myself, but if this is the typical 'response time', I'll find somewhere else to take my business. I'm not an impatient guy, 4-5 hours is reasonable, at least as long as things are submitted during business hours (which this was), but 14 hours is pushing it. Even better? A second reply took 45 minutes or less. Kinda ironic. The moral of the story? DON'T keep your customer waiting. If they open a ticket, they deserve a non automated reply, same business day, urgent or not.

Friends - The friends system is not complete. To make it truly relevant a member should be able to show blogs and gallery to friends only. I don't know what it would take to make that a standard option but it should be on top of the list of developing new member-friendly features. Reputation - There should be a way to show members who they received reps from. An optional admin enabled feature. If everything is just anonymous there is hardly motivation for members to use it. I have my board toggled to positive only and know if they could see or be seen on this feature it would be used a lot. As it is it is hardly used, and as a board user I understand why they don't. It …

Hello users of IPB just been viewing the online users list and found some interesting entry: to be honest I'm not surprised as I still remember a few days back when I discovered that Google was replying to a topic in my board. Now is this a bug or feature

Many of our board users had many problems viewing large images in IPB3, since the version of Lightbox used does not allow resizing them. I tried this alternative, and works great (although maybe a bit slower), with no code changes needed (except removing the options header) and only two extra options to be added in "include_lightbox_real" skin template. I think it's a nice option to consider for anyone facing the same problem and maybe invisionpower could try to support this in future IPB versions.

I have noticed here, and many other sites when you update your recent status people think its an open chat room and respond. If the recent updates are trying to mimic FB or twitter, why not make users able to comment on other users updates. and/or: Make a shot box that only keeps the last ten posts for users to have a "chat"

The main issue I found (after exhaustive log digesting and research) is that the "Find all member posts" mysql statement is SLOW as heck with large post tables (large forums with lots of posts). It also is even slower when run on members that have LOTS of posts. Despite indexing it is SLOW... like five minutes slow sometimes. The change I made below is similar to other methods I suggested (and IPB integrated into the mainline code as large board optimizations) previously. If the place I made the change is not "preferred" then I am sure another location can be found... So what did I do? Basically you can restrict (in this case 90 days) the amount of posts to find ba…

I don't know if this is a bug or not but came across this on your site. I removed some stuff I thought might be personal to ips if you want the full path pm me. ok this is my idea as i have seen it on loads of other makes of boards: member (any) logins into site, a pop up or something is in front of the user saying " the board owner needs you to view a topic/post " please click here you are then taken to the topic / post and the user will read, and confrim by ticking a box or hitting a button to confirm is done! I have seen this on a few boards, i think are php boards, but i think this is a great idea, as can be used for loads of things. for me i want to use it for the following: to make sure email addresses are upto date as so far i have 200 out of 2000 members showing as dead so can ask people to confirm emails to ma…

Hi, I have searched high and low for a solution on this but cannot seem to find any info. Is it possible so that if a member posts a topic and it has no response in a certain time, then it could be locked or archived automatically? I am using IPB 3.02 Hoping someone has a solution Andy

Im not sure if this has been suggested already, but i thought it be cool if in the future ipb can have a link in the admin section that we can click to upgrade the software similer to Wordpress. See in wordpress if theres an upgrade avalible ussr can click "upgrade" and it will download the files and upgrade the software autimaticaly for you without the need of us having to download and upload and running the upgrade script. anyone else like this idea?

Can I ask what happened to the SEF urls? Obviously its a little hard to search for SEF related stuff with a 4 letter search limit, but a lot of the posts and blogs around suggest it was due to be implemented as standard on IPB 3. Where do I find it? For those not aware of SEF urls, they make http://forums.invisionpower.com/forum/297-ips-company-feedback/ look like Invision Power Services -> IPS Company Feedback

Hey, Just an idea for the people at IPS, for those who submit modifications or skins to IPS Resources, I think there should be a user group called IP.Board Modders & IP.Board Skinners, and anyone that has a couple of mods & skins on the IPS Resources website should get put to one of them groups, to show the members of the community who actually contributes to the IP.Board Community :D

I was just moved out of the customers group and back into the member group for some reason, I have no access to the customer forums. I'm not due for a license renewal for IPB until next month, renewal for the blog and galley addons is not due until next year. Can anyone shed any light on what happened or why I've been moved out of the customers group and no longer have access to the customer sections?

Wondering why I'm set back to a member? I've got an active license for IP.Board, and was looking for support before I was going to send a ticket in, but now it appears (for the moment at least) that I will have to submit a ticket instead.

Why not add a tool or feature that can close all topics or not allow postings in that topic. Lets say you set the filter for anything before January 4, 2006 all will get closed. Or you know have different logics where x years ago, x month and year, etc.. I really realized this would be helpful such as here :).

Thanks to Robert for resolving my earlier feckwittedness - http://forums.invisionpower.com/topic/292886-import-users-from-phpbb3/page__pid__1855635__st__0&#entry1855635 I'd started the conversion process and seems to be going OKish until I try to convert the members (7774 of them), it seems to start the process then whitescreens on me - are there any other settings that need to be addressed? Cheers,

It appears that IPB doesn't GZIP the JavaScript files. Is this something I can activate in the settings, or does this need to be added to the feature requests? Here's PageSpeed's output: * Compressing /forums/public/min/index.php?g=js could save ~106.3kB. * Compressing index.php?charset=iso-8859-1&f=public/js/ipb.j... could save ~42.1kB.

I implemented a quick bbcode for showing pretty fractions, using this php code: { return preg_replace( "/\s*(\d+)\s*\/\s*(\d+)\s*/i", "<span style='font-size:80%'>\\1& #8260;\\2</span>", $content ); } For [fraction]3/11[/fraction] it shows as: 3⁄11 (only the fraction height is reduced by 80% so that it looks normal) This works, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get the RTE to show the formatted fraction instead of the BBCode. What I really want is to implement a drop down menu that allows the user to just pick a formatted fraction from the drop down. Maybe all fraction up to 1…

I love this new Facebook connect feature, but it would be even more fantastic if it was a bit more obvious to guests that they can log into the site with their Facebook accounts. My idea? Is to have the ability to either change the buttons that display to a guest, or add an additional button. Maybe replace out those buttons with a ....
