User error messages need to be more specific so that when a user reports them to me I have some idea what is going on. Example: if a user tries to upload a photo that exceeds the limit set in PHP, why not state that the image exceeds the Xmb limit? When a user has reached their global quota for the user group they are in, it seems pretty obvious to me that the software should state that rather than another ambiguous error message.

Greetings to all! I just want to put this comments for your customer's security and for your awareness of the SQL Injection Vulnerability of the IPB System because I was hacked and made my board inaccessible even I just recently updated to the most stable release 3.0.5 IP.Board. Can you please check all the possible gateways for the attackers to get in IPB.Board? Because if someone successfully get in to my board that easy, all IPB customers will be in danger. Thank you very much and hope you'll pay attention to it.

You need to work out a deal with these various programs like Digsby and Trillium to allow users to add an IPB-powered website.

We are running version 3.0.5 and it seems at least every couple of weeks we get the IPS Driver Error problem on our website, http://seadoosportboats.com. I go in, repair the tables and everything seems to be fine. Now my main issue with this is I have no way of knowing our website is physically down because of this error, unless I am viewing the website and see it for myself. At that time the website could of been down for hours, I really have no way of knowing how long it was actually down due to that error. Is there a mod or can something be implemented so the board admins receive an email notification about this error specifically and maybe other errors so we c…

Ideas: Re-arrangeable (drag able) pieces of your profile (using ajax (jquery has a light weight ui script for this) to move, save the info). Youtube integration, ability to add a "block" containing a mini Youtube profile or playlist. Last.fm profile/last listened to. Similar to this http://rick.jinlabs.com/code/lastfm/ Wordpress plugin, IPB could ask for an optional Last.fm username on registration and have a setting for it in the UCP. Re-arrangeable profile pieces could be moved when the user went to their own profile, or if an admin with the proper permissions did. Ability to create an "uneven" profile, the user having more control. Please note, this is ju…

For new installs, this isn't really an issue, but for existing installs, if someone makes any changes to initdata.php, then perform an upgrade, they have to remake those changes again. Not a big deal for those who forget, run into an error and then remember what they need to do. But for others who are still new to the scene (recent vb converts for example), it could be a source of problems. The biggest issue is with renaming the admin folder. Obviously, they need to remember to put the files into the proper folder and it's hard to not name it /admin so that can't be helped really. In the initdata.php file though, if they have renamed it, it gets overwritten. So wha…

Here is a quote of mine from another thread where the admin wants to be able to move posts around within a topic... Look at a Microsoft site: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7desktop/thread/aa760f0f-eec1-4a36-b212-c96130038d5c Something like that could be useful, especially if you can pin multiple posts to appear at the start of the topic and then have the topic display per usual. Admin selectable during pinning to have pinned posts showing before or after the first post of the thread.

There are several fields in the profile I have no control over. For some reason I cannot make age/birthday mandatory, not can I choose to hide or show it. Same with the email (obviously it's mandatory but where do I change who can and cannot show emails?) Also when setting up custom profile fields, the preset AIM/YIM/ext all have custom HTML that make them clickable but what about ones I create? I would like the ability for the twitter and other social site fields I have created to be click through

As per the title, I'd like to suggest a change to unread posts behaviour - instead of marking the entire thread read, could you link to the latest page read? For example, if I read up to page 10 in a 30 page thread I'd like the forums to know that, so that if I leave the thread and return later on and click the unread link, I'll be taken to page 10 or 11 so I can carry on from where I left off. Anyone else think this is a good idea? Cheers, Shaun :D

It'd be really good if the badword filters could also apply to usernames and display names (i.e. to prevent someone named 'nether regions of anatomy hole' signing up).

I think when browsing a certain forum it should be possible to quick search for a member's content in that forum. Like just now I was in IP.Board (this current forum) and I wanted to quickly get my topics because I wanted to check something. I tried searching in the quick search for Tanax, but nothing came up because it most likely searches the topic titles and topic posts for any occurances of "Tanax". What I had to do was to go to my profile, click "Find content", and even then I couldn't limit the search to a specific forum. That didn't matter much in this case tho since almost all topics I've created has been here but I would imagine that it does matter to others. …

I'm getting a lot of complaints from members that have a hard time logging in. One such member has complained that it has taken over 30 attempts to log in to the chat before it has been successful. Is this a bug to do with certain browsers? A lot of people who use IE seem to have issues with our chat. Or is this problem due to slow internet connections? Any ideas, or an easy fix here?

HI, I used to have a possibility to add comments to the positive and negative reputation at the given time. The modification did however break a few other things (we now found were needed more) on the forum, so we had to remove it. What happened in our forum after the comment-possibility was removed from the reputation system, was that we now get more posts with no or little content, more smileys and more single word posts. Not so very good for content :) Would it be possible to add a comment-box when giving reputation as a new feature to the 3.1 version of IPB?

I'd like to do something. My forum is at mysite.com/forums I'd like mysite.com to be a blog... That gets filled up with content from my forum. I may be wrong, but this seems slightly different than IP.Blogs I want to manually approve and promote individual forum posts to the front page. The comments would be directed to the original post on the forum. Obviously it would be good to use blocks or some kind of system to manage the layout. Is there already a function like this?

Wow, I feel like a noob. Took me forever to find this Thread. Anyways...I'm having problems with using HTML Codes on my profile. Ok ok-call me a noob! lol. I assume you all know what Mixpod is, a visual music player that you can put on your profile. But, sad thing is, it uses HTML coding. Now, when I post it inside my profile, it only shows the code! Fail. The reason why I'm posting this is because: 1. I didn't think it'd be a BBCode, because it's a code itself. 2. I thought all you need to do is "Activate" HTML use on IP.Board. 3. Even if it was a Custom BBCode, I don't know what it is! So if you can do a Noob-sized guide for me, that'd be very much appreciated! B…

I couldn't find this in IPB 3.0 or what not, so maybe this should be a feature in a future version? I found it quite useful when I was using vBulletin, and it'd be a shame to be missing just one small feature.
