Just wanted to post some thoughts on my move to IPB. First of all the move from SMF was harder than I thought it would be. But the support was better than I thought it would be so that made up for it. The hi quality support gives me faith that I picked correctly in choosing IPB instead of Vbulletin. Any way a big thank you to the hard work of the Invision staff. And I will you know how I like running IPB after I get more time using it.

I am a little confused about the best way to setup a payment system for premium accounts for my forum. What is the difference between IP.Subscriptions and the new Nexus? Will IP.Subscriptions continue to be supported? Is IP.Subscriptions bug free now? Just trying to set this up right from the start so I do not have to redo it later.

I was wondering if there was a way to get the board (even if it required a cookie) to remember the editor size. Especially when you preview a post. I am none too perturbed to do it on a post basis but when it comes to previewing a post I'd appreciate that my editor remember that I made it 3 or four times longer then it was originally. To add insult to injury here, I'm not an AJAX fangirl because (lets face it the new Google thing is BLEH!) but I think that it would be fantastic if the preview was perhaps dynamic? If you could hit preview and it simply throws it above the editor for preview (anchoring the screen above it) then it would fix the problem altogether because …

I must say one thing: until now I was a bit unhappy about my choice to come in IPB, mostly for the fear to be dependant from the ticket service, as I still don't know the hierarchy of the files and other stuffs. Yesterday night (yes, sunday and night) I had a problem with a folder that perhaps accidentally I deleted from server (using drag>>drop and other stuffs), or moved elsewhere. Hey Can I suggest that mp3 file attachments should not only provide a download link optionally an mp3 player able to stream the mp3 attachment using mp3player.swf? Just now the mp3 file attachment is a paramenter based url and as such wont work with the FlashVars 'value="mp3=' format as the other parameters of value just create a nonsense url. Additionally as there is no mp3 file extension the media tag doesn't work. As far as i can tell this would require an attachment interpreter to be called to decode the attachement into an mp3 temp file and an update to the appropriate attachment template to display the player if the audio mime_type is set for the attachment da…

Firstly I think that the information in the right top block needs to be a little different. It's not so obvious that some important (skin generator) things are there and I think they should be more obvious. Secondly I think that on the Listing of the articles there should be a By line that tells you who wrote the article. I don't mean to be bias (although I can be) knowing a particular member has written an article could be helpful to me because I could get told "Go check out AndyF's resource article about cookies" and when I go to look for it I can't find it because there is no reference to AndyF in the listing. The instructions in seemed a little unclear. The zip file provided contains an admin/sources/classes/bbcode/custom/defaults.php as well as an admin/sources/classes/bbcode/custom/defaults.php.zip containing a defaults.php that is identical to the former. There is also a ._defaults.php.zip. In my installed copy of 3.1.2, there is an admin/sources/classes/bbcode directory containing a defaults.php. There is no "custom" subdirectory under it, but I assume I need to create that subdirectory and copy the new defaults.php into it.

Would love to be able to disable logging when IN_DEV is enabled (or not enabled for other logging) except when an error is generated. I run with the ACP set to IN_DEV but the public side not IN_DEV, so I'm getting logs from both ends. Being able to disable this via initdata.php would totally rock.

I'm putting this here because me and two other people were requesting it in my thread from earlier. If it isn't too much trouble, I think a status updates block for the portal should be bundled with 3.1.3. Seems simple enough to do if you know what you're doing.

IPBoard v3.1.2, SEO question. User is posting a new topic. Besides Topic Title he also has an option to post Topic Description. Why (if exists) Topic Descripion is not put in field: <meta name="description" content="Topic Descripion" /> and only! if Topic Descripion is not available then <meta name="description" content="First post limited X characters" /> Users are far better in describing their own topic, then first X chars. of first post. What should be changed and where to make this change?

I held my first poll the other day and posted three questions. My members immediately complained they couldn't answer as it generated an error. The first question was a Yes / No one, the second was for the YES group, the third for the NO group. However, it turns out that you HAVE to answer every question that's posted before your vote is submitted. When making a new poll, can we please have a tick box next to each question - "Answering optional". Thanks, Shaun :D

My faith in IPS has been renewed, as will my license every 6 months! I just thought I'd leave a little bit of positive feedback for a change! :D The ticket support I received was very professional, thorough and solved my issue. I now feel very confident moving forward knowing that IPS stands solidly behind their product. Top notch work guys! :thumbsup:

We would like to have the forum validation emails come to a different email address than the board incoming email address. Currently the board incoming email address is set to our organization's general inbox, which we would like to keep that way. However, we have a particular person that handles the forum registration process. We'd like to have the forum validation emails come to this individual's email address. I believe the older IPB versions had this capability.

I just wanted to thank you for such an amazing line of products. I've been with IPS for just under two years now, and I've seen good, great, awesome, and some drama; that really, never needed to happen from specific community members. I've just grown to love this platform and the developers for it, more and more every day. For instance, I decided to shut my old community down, and 3 weeks ago, opened up a new one to the public. As the topics suggests. If I post an issue at 6:00 am, and a staff member answers at 6:00pm (12 hours later) and I have a follow up question, do I really want to wait until 6:00pm the next day, another 24 hours? I'm on my 3rd day now trying to resolve what should be a simple issue. This is frustrating to no end, and should be addressed. It would be nice to have possibility to make templates for the pages where RSS feed are displayed.So,that we can display the RSS feed page in a way we like(maybe we want to put there much more information etc.).I refer especially to forum rss feed from ACP. OK. This eclectic combination of cookie and DB marking is driving me nuts. Please guys. We should have a choice of it being one or the other. Not a combination of both regardless of what's selected in the ACP. Many of us use multiple computers (or dual boot multiple operating systems). When I select DB marking, everything should be run off the DB. Reading the forums, conversation notifications, etc. It's getting somewhat exasperating to do something on one system, and then log into another to find the same notification waiting for you.
