I've tried searching through the forum but have not uncovered anything. Is it possible to set a post count requirement to enter ip.chat? If so how?

Hi y'all Just wondering if there's an announced plan for upgrades to chat? I've switched from vbulletin and am very much happier with IPB - have a weekly chat where about 30 members are now coming regularly and would love to see some improvements in the chat tool. There have been several posts here asking for things like additional commands and the ability to put in colors for different members and for having moderated chats (I am having special guests now as well and things can get crazy). Looking for advice not sure I want to switch to one of the other chat clients either. Oh and some folks want to attend my chats without registering for the forums - they'd …

I really like the direction you're taking for IP.Board and its addons. Going to the commercial route with Nexus, and making such great improvements for 1.1, was the smartest move yet! It has turned IP.Board into a more professional solution for businesses.

I mean for example unread posts. Its /index.php?app=core&module=search&do=new_posts&search_filter_app[forums]=1 Thats ridiculous, seriously. :D Why not something like /index.php?unread_posts ? Lets see how other BB softwares do that same thing. SMF index.php?action=unread Vbulletin search.php?searchid=97128 phpBB search.php?search_id=newposts Okay, now IPB again: /index.php?app=core&module=search&do=new_posts&search_filter_app[forums]=1 See what i mean?

Just a small feature request. I come from SMF, and one of the best features of it was unread replies. It basically is an option to show any threads that you have started/posted in that may have new posts. If there is something like this already available as an applications/modification, please let me know as I have not found it in my searches. Also, I'm sure this has been requested before, but I could not find that either. Thanks for any feedback. If this cannot be completed, then I may find the time to create it myself (call it a "learning" experience ;) ) Regards, JBlaze

While logging a suppport ticket for an unrelated issue (708379), I mentioned that I still don't have access to any IP Board downloads in my Client Area. The response I got was "...as a Hosting Customer, you're effectively "leasing" a forum and space to run it from us. You don't actually own a software license. So the downloads won't be available to you. We must perform all upgrades, and would be glad to do so how and when you wish. It's part of your Support, free, and only requires you to file a Support ticket requesting it." Is this a recent policy change, and if so, what's the reason for it? I was able to download and upgrade to 3.1.1 (and 3.1.2?) myself, but sinc…

One of the things that irks with all forum software these days is the waste of space by stretching things out on my wide monitor. Wide LCD screens are pretty standard these days yet forum software has not grown to support wide screens. Email software, html editors on the other hand have. With email programs for example you have layout options to best utilize your wide screen. With my html editor I can have code in one window and a live preview in the other. All on the one screen at the same time as my screen is wide enough. What I am suggesting is for version 4 IPS looks at support for wide screens. This then better utilizes screen space and will reduce the amount of sc…

There are times when searching a site for things like SQL / URL / SSL / EPS / PDF are part of the lexicon of the members within the forums. And more times then not they are trying to specifically search for these terms within the content of the site. However due to the fact SQL imposes limits on terms < 4 characters it makes it impossible to search for such items. In theory an idea: Admin creates a table of "safe" words that users on the site would most likely search for. (like the example above) each one of these terms has a unique key associated with it perhaps the ASCII or MD5 equivalent - . and stored with the post or some other table that says "hey thi…

Why is there no Mac OS X documentation, or linux for that matter. Everything seems to be geared for Windows unfortunately, or if it does exist, where on earth are you hiding it?

We need the possibility to import a addon language pack only to a specific language. At the moment it's hazardous to import if you have more than one additional language because all language strings in other languages are overwritten. Even those with no translation and you have to run a query to get your English language back.

When I am searching for some entries I get results from both: admin and public word packs. There could be possibility if I want search in both, or in only admin or public pack. I am translating my board and I don't need results from admin word packs, because I am translating only public packs. With this I can filter lot of entries which I don't need see.

Hi, We lack the possibility for users to type tags matching the content of topics. Do you have any plans to add this feature? (I love how vB is doing it)

Hello I thought of sharing with you guys my personal 3 wishes for IPB 3.2 and I hope that IPS would become my gennie of the lamp  1- Notification Systems IPS introduced their inline notification system in IPB 3.1 which is a cool idea. Many of my members are using it to get notifications about who have quoted their posts or who posted to their topics. But the the problem is: IPS presented this cool feature in the form of a nagging popup window. There is a reason why, for example, Microsoft doesn't use a popup message box any more because it's really annoying to the user. Popup messages appear from no where and in times that you might be posting a reply and they…

1)It would be an awesome thing to be able to make a copy of a forum. I have a gaming website and I deal with things like servers. Some servers have similar forums/subforums, and it would be easier to create a copy instead of making a new one. 2)Another useful thing would be cool if you could move forum outside of it's categories through Ajax. Perhaps this is all very picky, but it's useful for faster work. These ideas are similar to the awesome hook "Quick Sliding Login", instead of clicking on sign in, login pops up. Overall, I love what IPB has become today. It is very easy to modify and control. -Oriax.

First off, thanks for a great forum software!! I (or should i say my members) would like a feature that shows the topics that I/they have participated in and has new unread posts in them. This funktion is not to replace the VNC, just to enhance it. In a large forum (as ours) it is always hard to keep track of the discussions that you are involved in. This is an old function from SMF that is severely missed... //Niclas

One thing that's annoyed me a bit is when I'm in chat and I click on someones name to send them a message, if I have the ability to kick them, the kick and ban options appear before the pm/block options, moving those two options down. So if I'm used to click one spot to private chat somewhere that I don't have mod powers, but then chat somewhere that I do, I could accidentally kick or ban someone when I mean to chat or block them instead. So I was thinking that the mod functions could be appended to the menu that shows up, instead of prepended.

In the case of a troublesome member, it would be neat to get a notification each time they post, making it possible to track their behavior without going to the formal stage of post moderation and the approval system. In operation this would be appear as a "Track this member" option appearing in their profile but only visible to Moderators. I've often wished something like this was available.

Right now guests get the "You cannot reply to this topic" button when viewing the forum, but I think that is pointless - they don't know what to do. A better solution would be to have a button that says "Register to reply to this topic" with a link to registration page. That would drive more user registrations. How hard is this to implement? - R

IPB's "view new content" feature does not behave as users coming from phpBB or vBulletin expect. They are expecting it to work like the 'view unread posts' feature in phpBB. It shows a list of topics which include replies you have not read yet. This means it's marking individual posts (ie. replies) as having been read. "View New Content" link (even when using either of the two search result types via user control panel), has a behaviour I don't expect. For example, if I have read every single post and reply on my board, when I click the "View New Content" link, it should return zero results. Yet it doesn't: I get threads showing up, even ones that I have read some …

I read many comments praising IPB seo before i converted to it, it was one of the main reasons that made me change from woltlab burning board -which is an excellent script- to IPB since i converted i lost traffic, my average visits went from 2200/day to 1200/day and traffic coming from search engine went from 1400/day to 500/day :( is this normal?
