bearback got a reaction from SeNioR- in ipad still supported ?
    Hi
since upgrading my forum to 4.5.4 the forum on ipad no longer works correctly and cannot post replies  or create new topics.
Testing on invisioncommunity  forum has the same results, tried with safari, chrome, edge but all the same.
Top right menu does not work, reply to this topic - you cannot get the editor to work (expand or open)
Reply at the bottom of the posts, editor will not expand or open.
    Quote button is missing aswell
Is there any fix for the issue as users cannot use the forum using ipad ☹️

  2. Thanks

We have this problem at my forum, too.  Multiple users are reporting it on desktop and mobile.
I've had it happen to me in both Safari 14.0.1 and Firefox 83.0 on macOS 10.15.7.  Sometimes reloading the page helps.  Often, not.
My users tell me it also happens in Chrome on Windows, but I don't have specific version numbers for those.
It's not confined to the forum.  The problem crops up in the ACP, too.
While I don't know anything about how IPS works, it looks to me like sometimes clicking on a text field fails to load the rich text editor.
Here you can see the text box has been clicked because Safari highlights it, but the text editor does't load:

Here's what the console log shows:

All of one minute to do. If y'all want them consecutively numbered from 1+ per topic that will take a few additional minutes.
I'll pop this in with the other updates and submit it tonight. No guarantees if/when approved.

No, I don't have time. I stuck with everything (covid stuff) and will check it ASAP.

I feel the gallery needs to be more appealing to users, not sure how though.
The gallery on my forum always used to get used but unfortunately not been used for some time now.

Hello, this isn't a " flippant attitude" at all, please don't take it that way.
This topic has been covered several times however, and management has made the decision that this alert will not be removed, we show this for security and the customers best interest in mind, we are not being selfish, we are not being flippant, and we are not being pushy with this recommendation.  If third party items are holding some back from upgrading, perhaps they need to evaluate how much value that item is brining to the community if it's forcing them to remain out of date.   That isn't an item which we can answer for you though, that is your decision.
With that said, there really isn't much more to add to this topic, so I will close this up.  If anyone has anything further to add on this subject and you feel it's something you want addressed that hasn't been converged already, please submit a support ticket under your account.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Approved.
There will be a new updated version to fix a couple of things released fairly soon.
$20 for a week or two, then $25-30 afterwards.
This topic remains for support on the legacy 4.4.10 and back plugin, at least for a time.

You're correct, and personally I'd like to see the community I referred to updated more frequently. However, updating during the beta period is not really an option, as things change quite often and things can and will break.
Another point is that some updates require you to make changes on the server side. For instance, 4.5 recommends PHP version 7.4 and future versions of Invision Community will drop support for older versions of PHP. Yes, I know PHP 7.2 is three years old and that you should keep your servers up to date as well, but realistically that's not always possible.
Finally — and this is something I don't think anyone can argue against — some people simply don't want to update. Apple doesn't force their users to update their iPhones and iPads to the latest version of iOS. Sure, they recommend it and more and more apps will stop working on older versions of iOS, but you don't get a banner taking up half the screen everywhere if you're on an older version.

Want to jump in here as well. There are A LOT of very VALID reasons to postpone the upgrade - custom themes, 3rd party app/plugins, language translations and so on and so on. Frankly, this:
is insulting. I found the reason - the apps I use are not updated yet, those that are done I have not finished testing, I still need to translate > 100 pages of new language strings and on top of that your brand new releases are typically unstable, so it makes sense to wait at least a few months for everything to settle down. What should I do to resolve it? Duh!

One of the biggest complaints about my support (other than my disappearances) has been that i chose to keep it all in one topic. I've decided to make a topic for each of the apps, and will be requesting this topic be closed/deleted.

Just a follow on from the original topic by DamonT
On a forum i manage, my picks page is used and also promoted to the main index using the widget that's set to display three picks only.
Due to the images being loaded full size on the forum index it really slows the loading of the forum, could there be some improvement to these features as i feel these have been over looked. On the main index block could images be reduced to thumbnails and on the My Picks Page an option to load fewer topics and thumbnails,  both will help with page loading.
    Thank you

I think users go by views...  Are they imperfect. Yes.
But in comparison to "Day it was most popular"..... it's a no brainer. What motivates a user to post? To be seen.... what metric is "closest" to that motivation? # of views.

Is Google Analytics better.... sure. I trust their numbers more. Can I share those numbers to motivate users on a per topic basis? Not that I know of.
So I'll take what I can get.

    # of views is critical for readers to know what's more popular in a relative sense when your forum has hundreds to thousands of posts a day. In fact hot topics can be deduced by considering post post count and views within a certain time.

    In your opinion
Sorry Matt but i have to disagree,  Once again a feature has been removed because you thought it wasn't useful or seams to read tat way.
My members like to see the number of views on a topics and so do sponsors, its getting a little tiresome where i have to find a why of putting feature back or hope a developers has the time to create a plugin.
