Welcome to this week's Invision Insight!
We are getting so close to the silly season and whilst things may be slowing down for 2022, we are so excited for what is to come in 2023!
I am really enjoying the engagement from everyone lately and I want to take this opportunity to give you some confidence or relief, whichever is more relevant. Any feature suggestions, bug fixes or reports are all actively read and reviewed, and whilst I cannot promise every single thing will be implemented, it is definitely noticed and appreciated by the team. I thought it a good idea to address this having seen a few comments on Invision Community regarding not getting an answer to your topics. We will always do our best to reply to everyone and everything as they come up.
On other news, how are you all enjoying the FIFA World Cup? ⚽ What team/s are you supporting?
Do you have any travel plans over the Christmas and New Year break?
    New Version
On 29 November, Invision Community released their most recent version of the software, 4.7.5.
As I mentioned last week, this release is the last one for 2022. We thank everyone for your support this year and can't wait to introduce some exciting new features in 2023. It's definitely going to be a very good (and busy) year!
Please ensure your communities are up to date to take full advantage of our product suite.

Dll reacted to opentype in EU cancellation policy
I applies to companies world-wide offering goods and services to EU citizens. It’s not a matter of the company being subject to local law, it’s a matter of wanting to to business with citizens of certain countries. Just as you cannot import illegal goods into a country independent of having a subsidiary in that country. Digital goods and services fall into the same category. Enforcement of these rules is a different matter, but claiming it wouldn’t even apply is factually wrong.
Please don’t add unnecessary side debates to this. You don’t have to get involved with every discussion here, you know?

2.2.0 was released yesterday( I forgot to change the version number, so there's a new update but wit the same file as yesterday🥺 )
This release fixes a issue wit the google search console integration and I was able to decrease the package size to < 7MB.
Next to the minor improvements, this release also includes a link inside the analytics form to open the live meta tag editor, a new setting in the ACP to flag whole forums and it's topics as no index and the UGC attribute can now be set on a per user group basis.

Last but not least, there's now also a button on the settings page to disable the experimental background site analyzer, which will also prune all created background tasks.

Surely on a site with ads, if they're slowing it down then it's the js in the ads doing it?

As opposed to the ones selling their own brand of snake oil 🫣
I've run a web based business for many years, so it's fair to say I've done my share of problem solving website related issues.
The best way to deal with most problems is to find to the root cause. So if it's ads slowing a site down, that would be the place to look. If it's a slow server, it would be that, and so on.
Messing about with unrelated things to attempt to use them as sticking plasters is seldom the answer in the long or short term. Particularly when doing that is time consuming, can cause other complications and takes time away from what you could be doing or spending your money on.
I've also learned when to figure out when a problem actually needs solving and when it doesn't. And I'd recommend to anyone who cares to listen that a site scoring reasonably on speed tests, passing core web vitals and providing a good user experience doesn't need time or money wasting on trying to score a bit better on speed tests.

Set the TTL of your dns to 5 minutes a few days in advance, then the propagation will be much faster.

Thank you, @Dll! I thought it was a space that I could try and keep alive considering there was quite a bit of support and interest in it. Not to mention being a good place to get a general overview of things happening with Invision Community.
I don't think anyone could ever replace Jordan's flair!

Next release, probably before Xmas - I mean, probably much sooner, but it's good to hedge. It's already running locally but fit and finish matters. I am also getting around to some of the drudge work, handling some of the errors that pop up when people hold this app wrong.

Welcome to the very first Invision Insight, hosted by yours truly! 😎
I'm excited to connect with you each week to share what's happening inside Invision Community. For those that haven't yet seen me making my way around this community, I'm Gary, and I have just recently joined the Customer Service team at Invision Community.
We are currently working hard to close out our 20th year in business on a high note!
There are still so many things to look forward to before the year is done though, and I wanted to give you all a few things to keep your eyes out for. Earlier this week, I posted my first blog entry providing insight on how keeping it simple provides the best experience for the users of your community. It would be awesome if you could check it out if you obviously haven't already done so!
This makes up the first of a mini-series of blog entries I have planned, so stay tuned to read more in the next few weeks.

Dll got a reaction from All Astronauts in Ads Everywhere
At the moment, we create blocks for some ad units, so we can use php to check cookies etc, but you can't use things like {block="my_block_key"} in the advertisements at the moment. So, we end up placing them manually into the templates.
So, if it were possible to use those inside ads, and place them using your app it would be very useful for us.
