I like this idea a lot, I've been looking to do something like myself. Dave has done something similar on his StarTrekGate site.
Could this be an option? I would like to upload a picture with text already on it and have the info below (as seen above).

this is a design example that has nothing to do with IPS, and that I just took as an example from the web
What is interesting is to see that the text is very visible on the image using certain tools.
But as soon as the important title has been placed on the image and not on the image.
I would not even be surprised that today the users do not read the white texts on the images because the pages are scanned visually and it is not seen then.

We own a visual effects business and text on image is a bit of a nightmare, which is why most titles in broadcast will have either a solid background, or be formatted in some way, such as a 'lower third', or similar.
But on the whole, this is a great improvement, and presumably allows us to easily format text and container with CSS.

How does this display on mobile?
I hide all of this on mobile to save space and to get to the topic list quick, but looking at how its styled in with the page numbers now I'm guessing its adding more bulk to it

thank you for all this work. It's very good I find that IPS is really starting to be adapted to the level of needs as ease of navigation today.
I am far from being a designer but wonder if I should continue to write on the images directly in this way because I know that it is not too pleasant and a little difficult to read depending on the background colors.
Why not write below the image or use tools to better see ...
We could put an icon post and next to a number, an icon follower and next to a number, to avoid writing overload as much as possible

Could you make a habit of showing how these things will display on mobile? 🙂

Thank you for all your hard work in making a great product even greater. I am loving the grid view.

Later this year doesn't mean the end of the year. 🙂
We want to beta test it thoroughly before unleashing it for everyone. It should only take a few months.
Note, Zapier will not affect the 4.5 release date which is coming very soon.

Yes, once the beta process has finished, we are looking to bring this to downloadable/on-premises licenses.

I'm guessing we'll get version 4.5 at the end of the year :<

Finally! My heart literally skipped a beat, before I checked that it is only for cloud 🙂 Now I wonder if there is maybe a way that I start a cloud instance, call its rest api from my main community and work like that with zaps 🙂 There is no chance you are leaving it to be only cloud feature, right?

Totally off topic (sorry). But can you guys make it so when you click the link to read these product updates that it doesn't go to the last comment? Everytime I have to scroll up to read the article.

So even more money to spend?
Why isn't such a feature inbuilt with having automated tasks, if someone can make an app like rules automated why can't you? I don't understand why this needs to be outsourced, I get for things like mailchimp and the like but other inbuilt actions.
Absolutely no benefit to the average user/community. I wish you'd take on more ideas to what people are asking for and expanding on it. We had a previous discussion on this on a topic about not seeing features that people have been asking for years with the usual outcome of 'we can't see it being popular', yet we see new features/addons like this?
Sorry for being negative, but feedback is feedback. (Sorry if I've completely missed the point in this app)

/Goes and Google zapier. Looks interesting and could use this.
Update: Looks like free version of zapier is much limited. May be big boards will benefit.

I strongly wish that this is not the start of IPS-cloud-only services because that would not go the right way...

I'd be interested in that as well, internal automation. Pricing can get up there depending on how many tasks and zaps. You can do 100 tasks a month for free.

Matt reacted to jair101 in 4.5: Zapier Brings Integration with Over 2,000 Web Apps
I am mainly interested in doing the internal automation for now. I.e. replacing the Rules app.

Nice feature! Really opens the door to new integrations. 👍
I'm curious to see how people use it now and what they will use it for in the future. Will need a new topic on this in the forum...

Super excited to see this! Thank you! 😍 Can't wait for it to be available for self-hosted licenses.
