  1. One of the overarching goals for any community leader is to shine a bright light on your members. Their contributions should be publicly recognized. Now with Invision Community’s new Achievements system... you can! Achievements is Invision Community’s native gamification system baked into our latest update, 4.6. We’ve dreamed up innovative actions for community leaders to publicly recognize members who show up and participate in meaningful ways. Award Points and badges based on conditional Rules! Here’s what you need to know... Points Our Achievements Points system keeps a running tally of Points. Members may earn Points in a multitude of ways. Essentially, it’s achieved by participating in the community. Create a topic? Points! Post a reply? Points! Follow another member? Nothing. Just kidding… Points!!! This is done through creating Rules. Rules Rules are actionable processes set up in the admin panel. Here are what members can earn Points for: When a... Member joins a club Reaction is given New poll is created User follows a content item Review is posted Member logs in for the first time that day New club is created Content item/comment is promoted or featured Comment/reply is posted User follows a forum, blog, gallery, category etc User votes on a poll User is followed New content item is posted Post is marked as best answer There are also corresponding When/Then Rules for each item listed above. When this action happens, then this subsequent action happens. Example: when a member posts 10 times, then this Badge is awarded. Badges Community leaders can also create specific Rules when deciding what actions earn Badges. For example, reward your members with a Badge for visiting your community for 20 days. Once a member reaches 20 visits or more over 20 days, the Achievements system will automatically award them a ‘20 Visits’ Badge you’ve previously created. Ranks In 4.6, we’ve completely revamped our Ranks system to communicate with Achievements. Achievements’ Ranks system will replace our previous Ranks system* Set up different Ranks based on how many Points a member earns. Ranks display a members’ perceived value to the community. The higher a members’ Rank, the greater their influence because the more they’ve participated. Ranks are currently for prestige at the moment. Here's our example for a pretend Coconut community: There’s a lot of information to absorb here, but if there’s anything to take away from this blog post it’s this: empower your contributing members with Achievements and watch your community grow. It creates an immersive and elevated experience for your die-hards. And hey, who doesn’t love to earn? When 4.6 and Achievements is officially released for all, we’ll hold a live Q&A event for you to join and ask any questions you may have. Props? Concerns? Comments? Questions? We’d love for you to sound off in the comments! Not only because we want to hear from you, but because it’ll earn you some sweet, sweet Points, too!
  2. Interesting suggestion @kmk Curious... why not use Gallery?
  3. I hear you guys. I can see what you mean about wanting to use a "sad" reaction as a means to show someone you saw their comment, but may not necessarily have the words at the moment to write a reply. I think that's interesting. I'd like to challenge you to explore that: why not write something out every time you feel compelled to use a sad reaction? I imagine it'd make the person you're quoting feel seen and heard far more than a sad reaction. I'm not completely opposed to adding the sad reaction back, but I am also having trouble advocating for this change. Communities are designed for members to contribute and convey emotion. Sadness is an emotion (imo) that deserves some extra attention. 😕
  4. Appreciate your perspective a lot @Linux-Is-Best!
  5. I hear you @Chris Anderson. Emotions are complex and many times they're difficult to navigate. Neutrality is nice in theory isn't it? Easy and clean. But, kinda boring right? Invision Community develops software for business owners and community leaders to build online communities. Emotions and feelings are the cornerstone of communities! There's a person behind every screen. All human-beings experience positive and negative emotions. Even if you suppress emotion in an effort to be neutral, eventually those emotions will surface, and most likely being heightened. Think of your feelings like a beach ball in water. You can hold the beach ball beneath the surface for so long before it bursts above the water. Instead, just allow the ball (your emotions) to just be and float. Re: the few bad apples... there's built-in moderation tools for them 😉 Invision Community is more than a product support board. We are a community of like-minded people with a passion for this software and community building. Now with that said, please feel free to write your posts with a neutral tone. However, allow others the freedom to express themselves in a way they see fit so long as it doesn't break our community guidelines. I will always strive for this place and all communities to be as positive as possible and I won't back down from that. I mean that respectfully! Sending you a lot of good vibes.
  6. Appreciate that! Thanks 🙂 I would like to think that people who are considering using Invision Community software see that we're working towards making our own community more engaging and high vibe. 😸 Think we'll have to agree to disagree that being silly with the kitty reaction or posts with GIFs are childish. Life is short man, just wanting to make people smile and brighten their day even if it's just a little. I don't believe it's inhibiting you or anyone from learning/reading. 🙏
  7. This!! It would also be useful if you curate content. Example: your member gets moved into a group via Group Promotions. In this group, they can use the "Feature" tool. Problem is, the topics don't currently require a featured image. Yea, this would be a great option!
  8. Appreciate you taking the time to write this @The Old Man! My logic for removing the "sad" and "confused" reactions was two-fold. For one, they were extremely underutilized according to the reports. More importantly (imo), if someone feels confused or sad, we want to encourage you guys to write out a response. Those are more fragile emotions, so I felt, and still feel, that if someone is sad or confused about something, that it's important they take the time to respond why they feel that way. If they're confused, it gives them an opportunity to seek clarification from someone in a reply. And if they are sad, it allows them the freedom to explain why. Most platforms stopped offering a "dislike" option because it causes unnecessary conflict. I can attest to this personally on my own community. A few members were using it non-stop to essentially start fights - especially if their posting was restricted (they can still use reactions as a form of communication). We removed the option to "dislike" replies and it created a friendlier environment. YouTube is one of the only places left where you can dislike, and this past week they've started quietly testing out what their platform would be like if they removed it. Ultimately, I am aiming for our community to feel more high vibe. 😅 Would love to hear what the rest of the community has to say about this! If the majority want the ability to express negative emotion with reactions, if that will really elevate this community and your day, I'm open to hearing that and making a change. It just has to be for the overall betterment of our community 🙂 🙏
  9. Feeling this. I'd love the option for this on topics, too!
  10. Me when Achievements is announced And thank you!! 😂
  11. Wassup my IC fam?! Not to make this Hump Day topic about me, but, well... happy birthday to meeee 😂 🎂 I'm 33 today (April 7). Birthdays are always a great time to reflect on the past year. For ALL of us it's been a year of facing challenges and enduring. Becoming part of the Invision Community team, and becoming more integrated in this community, was easily one of the highlights of my entire year. Love you guys!! 🙏 Alright, alright, enough about me (😏), check out a mini-roundup of new 4.6 changes below. The list is dwindling down because we're inching near the finish line! Oh and you didn't hear it from me, but we'll be formally announcing Achievements in a blog post in the near future 🤫. Be sure to follow me so you get the notification first! - Fixed an issue where content was missing the proper share logo. - Fixed an issue where post attachments sometimes used different styles within a list. Attachments in a list will always use a smaller 'inline' style now. - Improved upgrade error messages. - .well-known can now be used as a folder name for Apple Pay verification in Commerce. - Fixed an issue where it's possible to create two Folders with the same name, causing conflicts. - Fixed an separate issue with the Easy Mode theme editor where a JS could be thrown due to a race condition.
  12. Thanks for the suggestion! Anything that improves speed is eye-catching. Curious what the rest of the community thinks about this 🙂
  13. Hi there. I like the concept of excluding items, however in this case I'm not sure how many people would need this (versus selecting what forums they do want to show). How many forums do you have? And would you be modifying this setting often or is it a one-and-done?
  14. I like this idea! I have found instances in my own community as well where I'd love to Require the user to upload an image if the "feature" button is checked.
  15. Hey @Dominyka. For example, if something is $100, you want to give members the option to make 5 installments of $20 over X amount of time?
  16. Appreciate the kind words! Means a lot, thank you. 🙏 I'll take this to the team and see what they say. Perhaps for the time-being, you can add a block to the checkout page that tells the purchaser they have the option to switch currencies? I know that's a bit clunky, but if it's worded in a clear and simple way it might not be too cumbersome. 😅
  17. Loving all the teamwork in here 🥲
  18. Nice suggestion! My community used to have a thumbs down reaction with a -1 Members who were restricted from posting would frequently downvote everyones' posts just to be mean. I ended up removing the -1 altogether.
  19. Hey team! Another hump day is already upon us. We have a bunch of 4.6 goodness in development still. We're aiming to have it released in the coming weeks. I want to share a little teaser of a new implementation in our forthcoming Achievements application. You'll be able to reward members for getting a subscription to your community! Subscriptions are a super powerful way to promote community and engage with your VIPs. Here's a little screen shot: While I've got ya... below are a list of fixes, improvements and updates we made for 4.6. Also, there's a bunch of great topics in the Suggestions forum. I'm going to review some with the team this week and circle back there, so keep an eye out! Any of these catch your attention in particular? Have a question about the new Achievements mini-announcement? Drop us a reply! - Improved rich embedding to support embedding of short links provided by the TikTok app (vm.tiktok.com links). - Fixed a niche issue where _really_ old vBulletin avatars may not be converted. - Fixed an IN_DEV error editing Pages templates that was thrown for applications without any Pages Templates. - Improved soft deleting comments/reviews to remove code duplication. - Fixed an issue where review ratings are not recalculated properly when a review is deleted. - Updated the ModCP content restore (soft delete) to use the built in `restore()` method instead of using its own code. - Fixed importing members from CSV to Date custom fields not importing properly. - Improved performance of the Vanilla converter. - Fixed some issues when converting from Vanilla and your files used to be in S3. - Fixed an issue where editor contents may be lost or incorrect when paginating through a topic and using the editor on different pages. - Fixed an issue where canceling an ad purchase would result in an error.
