Is this already compatible with 4.5+ or will it be getting an update anytime soon?

Do you know of a online guide on how to set up Google Workspace correctly? In IPS I selected SMTP, then the following:

    SMTP Host: smtp-relay.gmail.com
    SMTP Protocol: TLS
    SMTP Port: 587
SMTP Username: My google workspace email
SMTP Password: My google workspace password

Is any of this wrong? I'd appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

This is how I would like to set mine up, but not sure what you mean by 'sort credentials by service'.

I will look into it, unless they get back to me on how to proceed.

    Thanks Jon.

I tried using Google Workspace, googled the issues that came up, tried for hours, then gave up.

I will be using SES though and will try to connect my forum with that service instead. Thanks for the reply though FP.

But the whole point for having a plugin made for using SES with IPB is the fact that using the SES api is much faster than using it through SMTP.

You enabled re-write URLS and that's what caused this?
If you remove the htaccess and turn it off does it work again?

Uhm, is it a managed server or do you do everything on your own? Managed means that the VPS/Dedicated Server you have is managed by employees of your hosting.

It’s a server (not application) error message so I would take a look in permissions.

Service refers to the software being used in this case. So in AWS, you will have a Wordpress user with their own credentials and a separate IPB user with their own credentials.

    Any update on this?
Sorry to be a pain (not the best timing for us on our site with renewals) but waiting to see what this brings before making a big decision on our sites future and direction

I can only speak for myself, but this is what I wanted to hear - just a basic update as to what's going on, given the length of time it's taken.  I also understand that the holiday season will slow things up on top of that.  Thanks for letting us know!

I di dupdate it but IPS said there was stuff getting added to the members database ( I thought I removed all links to the members database on all my apps months ago must of missed this app ) I will update it with new database tables etc but I am currently working through other updates, I know its not something you all want to hear but apps and plugins with no renewals get put behind apps and plugins with renewals when it comes to priority and it can take IPS days to check and come back to me with a refusal reason etc and in this case its the core members database and by the time they get back I am deep into another program, I will do my best to get this done this week for everyone
I can only really work on the default theme so using a 3rd patry could cause problems, from your image it just looks like it needs the z-index higher using css so it sits on top of the annuncements and not below, You did not need to buy it I could of generated you a purchase over on my site, it's not something I'll do for any file but on a occasion like this I would do it for you, Message me your username on my site and I'll add $40 credit to your account there ( $20 extra to maybe add a smile and to show I do care ) so you can use it to buy something else if you wanted

I finally got this working.  I ended up installing PHPMailer and writing a PHP script to send mail using the same parameters the forum should be using.  When I turned full debugging on, I could clearly see that the server was blocking the outgoing requests..
I then dug through the WHM firewall settings more carefully, and saw several related to SMTP..  Including this one:

After turning this off, it all worked magically.  I'll be monitoring it for a while to make sure A) I'm still getting emails from the forum and B) The bounces are being properly captured and accounts are disabled.
I definitely should create a guide for this to save others from the headaches I ran into!
Seems to be working well so far, it's already blocked for members for having bad emails, and I know there are tons more.  Hopefully this will help cleanup my mail reputation so Gmail and other providers stop dumping mails from my domain into users' spam folders!

After playing with this some more, I'm pretty sure Amazon SES/SNS is setup properly, but I simply cannot get past the "Connection Refused" when I attempt to use Amazon's SMTP server with my credentials.
I was able to use this page to manually test sending emails on the command line from the same server, so it's not a firewall issue, either:
    https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/DeveloperGuide/send-email-smtp-client-command-line.html
That worked without issues.  I have no idea why it's failing when going through the forum.  I did have one instance where Amazon started sending emails even though I still received the "Connection Refused" report from the ACP, and there were even two bounces for which I received bounce emails from Amazon and Mail Bouncer did catch them as well:

However, try as I might, I simply cannot get the ACP setup without getting the errors.  I'm not sure why it worked briefly one time, even though the ACP still reported the refused connection.  I also looked through Amazon SES and could not see anything in the way of an error log that might provide some insight, nor do I see anything like that in the ACP.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can try to resolve this?
    Thanks!

I've setup Amazon SES and SNS to the best of my abilities (considering I've never used these services before), but when I try to setup SMTP to point to the Amazon server, I get a "Connection Refused" message from the ACP, and then any emails it attempts to send also get the "Connection Refused" message without further details..  The ACP reported,
    IPS\Email\Outgoing\Exception: Connection refused (111)
I am using Cloudflare, and I did setup the bypass firewall rule for the endpoint, but I'm not even getting that far.
I have the right SMTP credentials entered in the ACP:

Screenshot on Amazon (not too useful, since I'm not going to show the actual credentials):

Domain and email (editor@atariage.com, which is the email address used by the forum) are setup and verified.  I sent a test message from within SES and received it fine.
I have notifications setup as follows:

Topic subscription is setup as follows:

Here's the endpoint firewall rule I setup in Cloudflare.  Haven't setup anything else there related to this yet:

Any insight anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Hopefully it's something simple I'm missing..
    Thank you and take care!

Any news @TheJackal84 on this update about member goals for 4.5?  Update uploaded a few hours ago is for 4.4
When are the new features due?

Also on members shop items, seems even though I disable shop items, I can still buy and use them

I would say most comments are respectful and kind, but there's still work to do. It's still an initiative I'd like to pursue (even if I'm in the minority right now ;])
As I'm sure all community leaders can relate to, people are going through tough times right now. It's important to me to have an uplifting community corner on the Internet. So while some may think this idea is a nuisance, I personally think it adds value.
I love the Random Act of Kindness idea you mentioned. I have done things like that in the past and it's fun, but it's not a sustainable solution to have to manually do that every day. BUT, your mind and heart are in the right place! That's the vibe 👏
No worries, I understand. I would imagine if it was implemented in the core, that it'd feature an "on" or "off" option. But either way I hear you 🙏  😉

    @breatheheavy

Maybe instead of going this route, you can simply create a banner that you could place on your forum, basically reminding people to be kind to others when posting, see if that helps to make a difference at all. As @Davyc mentioned, let them know a good heated debate is always welcomed, just for them to remember to stay respectful.

If people are using the Members Shop system, maybe try a 'Random Act of Kindness' yourself, and tell people you will go around the forum and donate points to people who you feel are posting in a way you appreciate.

There are literally tons of things you can try to increase the good vibes on your forum, if you are willing to. Just curious, percentage wise, about how many of them are posting negative or offensive content? I know you have a good size community.
