SC36DC reacted to AlexWebsites in Support for Amazon AWS SES
If wordpress is on the same domain, you should be fine but otherwise you'll need to set up your sending domain again. You are using SES via API on wordpress and woocommerce, not SMTP right?

It runs in its own application and overrides any mail setting you have currently (even though they may still be selected under sending method) If you know how to set up your Amazon API credentials and SES sending domain and such, the app takes the API and region settings and just works. The hardest part for some will be setting it up correctly on the Amazon side if they are not familiar, whereas Sendgrid, Sparkpost, etc., all just give you your API credentials within their respective panels.Â

Many thanks to @rebraf for restoring this functionality, great work! I commissioned this plugin to be shared on the marketplace and supported by rebraf, to help fellow community admins get their content back on track.
I can confirm this plugin works well, and also restores Instagram embed functionality to older posts with existing embeds that had broken. It will be available for download in the store very soon, it's worth the wait! Installation is easy, and it 'just works' after you enter your App credentials in the ACP.

Just today I was approved by Amazon to use SES on my Wordpress/WooCommerce website. I only asked for a 50,000 emails a day limit, which they granted. Far more than what I need. I look forward to your plugin becoming available, so I can make the switch for my forum too.
Thanks for working on this @Jon Erickson

Sites could readily come to rely heavily on your application working long term. How likely will your solution not require updating to continue working as IPS releases new updates in the coming year(s). If it ends up needing updates how likely will it be that you can readily figure out how to update your app to continue being compatible. If you bow out of the marketplace who will take over maintaining the app? We have had a fair share of apps being neglected or abandoned for various reasons (such as death of a developer) to place to much reliance on marketplace developers. If you can address those concerns you will garner my support and business.

@Chris Anderson, all valid questions. The application is extremely light weight. At this point, we are only overriding 2 functions to introduce the functionality. Having said that, as IPB changes and updates are made, this makes it extremely easy to update alongside IPB. IPB devs has already done the leg work in developing the application to be easily extended. This is how they have already integrated Sendgrid, SMTP, PHPMailer etc. These are all extensions of their base Email class. To be honest, I am surprised they have not included many other email service options as it was very easy to build in this functionality.
Second, this application is built on AWS's open source PHP SDK which is heavily supported and has a very large audience.Â
Third, we have a fairly large audience in the applications we've developed with over 1000 clients having used our services.Â
Lastly, and in all reality, I wouldn't be too worried. I am confident IPB will introduce this functionality natively in the future as they already work with S3. All it takes is for a community to rely heavily on a third party application for them to introduce it into their core application. Thanks for the questions!

I have a plugin currently being tested that reintroduces Facebook and Instagram oembed support. Once it has been tested/confirmed I'll get it in the marketplace. Should only be a few more days, depending upon approval time.

Well, I can add forums if I want, even if it is not exactly a standalone function đ
Long live the AJAX Tabs đ

You are an incredible person. I am signing up to your forum right now. Thank you.
I just read your 'Adding custom buttons to the editor', very helpful. đ

Just ask đ
I am happy to share. I even setup a special forum for it on my site.
Very rarely do I take on custom work. That is because I already work 120% as a consultant most of the time đ
On occasion I do some project though, like this one I did a last month: https://jimiwikman.se/myprojects/development/theleft-invision-community-developer-r27/
So you can always ask đ

Yes, but that just post to a forum, I meant that each movie or tv show would have it's own form where you can post any number of topics, just like on the clubs đ
Once I have completed the design I'll share how I did it đ It's mostly styling, but I got stuck a bit on the custom fields so I will post about that specifically since I think that will be most useful to create your own version.

Now I only have 2 things on my wish list:
Be able to create a forum for each show or movie (kind of like in clubs). Have a list function (kind of like the bookshelf in Books) where anyone can create different lists with items from Movies. The lists also show up on each movie or series, and you can have multiple lists. Just icing on the cake though, this is great as it is even without these two.

Just educate other folks so we also see that view?
Here is another though: To completely unsubscribe from emails, you need to unfollow each topic. That makes stop all email notification for a user, useless.Â

I've been from Ikonboard pre 1, through to when @Matt & co switched away from Perl to PHP and so fourth over to Invision Board then the transition from free to paid etc.  Over the 20 or so years there's been a small handful of decisions I look at and just wonder WTF were they thinking, this is one of them.  To tie an entire customer base to quite literally a junk rated service (just ask the receiving mail servers what they think about SendGrid's reputation! They'll quite literally share their opinion with a bounce back message đ ) is one of those WTF moments over the past two decades. Â
Not implementing SES is so many levels of stupid it's beyond even trying to understand. Essentially here's something that could make a significant difference to many communities as email is Invision's default outbound communication method, instead of improving that experience for the end user it is actively ignored/avoided.  Don't get upset, some things in the world  need to be so ridiculous they're unbelievable just to create intrigue.

@Nathan Explosion you are my freaking savior. Using an app password did the trick. It's finally working. I can not thank you enough. I really appreciate the help.
