SeNioR- reacted to Jim M in Two Accounts - Same Username & Email Address
The software itself, does indeed prevent conflicts. The database configuration, however, is where that falls short. Improvements can indeed be made; we both agree on this. However, in the current state of things, if third party applications/plugins currently don't implement the same validations or prevent/break those from happening, that can create issues that users are seeing. Regardless of what we do, third party providers would still need to resolve their solution or errors would still happen, they won't create conflicts, but they'd still happen.
If you want to see improvements that you mention here, please provide them in the Feedback forum as instructed.

SeNioR- reacted to Foxtrek_64 in Connect Invision to Third Party Stores
This feature is inspired by another product, Woltlab.
The Woltlab store feature which is very similar to the marketplace here allows site administrators to publish package links. These package links can be added to a client's ACP, and combined with either a username and password for the vendor's site or some kind of token, allows the client's site to securely check for updates to plugins and, given the correct credentials, download and install said updates in a manner similar to how the Marketplace used to work.
Limitations:
There would need to be some way to properly identify and limit packages available on this link to Invision Applications. Guides, sample html templates, and discographies need not apply. This may be somewhat of a solved issue already, given the Invision marketplace would have needed to deal with this question. There should be a disclaimer somewhere that while this method can guarantee that applications were not changed between the time of uploading and the time of downloading (via hashing, which may also be a good way to verify integrity before installing), there is no mechanism for reproducible builds (linking a particular "build" of an application to any particular commit in a source repository), nor does package verification in any way guarantee that any particular download is safe to install or use. Include standard warranty disclaimers. Sites which offer this capability should require an HTTPS certificate to be present, used for TLS encryption. We should be able to reuse the one attached to their website. With free certificate providers like Let's Encrypt, this should not be a high bar to pass. A Marketplace-like view in the ACP would be nice, but is not required. This is not intended to provide a new store front, but to alleviate a common complaint I hear about the removal of the marketplace: specifically, users must regularly check several websites for updates to their plugins on a regular basis, and this means maintaining a login with each. This simply provides some sort of automation for checking on updates and optionally installing them if the client's site supports it.

SeNioR- reacted to Stuart Silvester in PWA app icons and splash screen not displaying correctly
Right, but if your Cloudfront/Cloudflare configuration said "Cache this static image for 1 year" for example; The device (iPhone) itself is going to cache that resource for a long time and not check the CDN/Website for a newer version.

SeNioR- reacted to Stuart Silvester in PWA app icons and splash screen not displaying correctly
If you're using a CDN with default cache-control headers for static files, it's very likely that the device itself is caching these resources. The good news is that the current beta (4.7.15) introduces cache-busting for web app icons, so that may resolve your issue after upgrading.

SeNioR- reacted to ekforum in Invision Community does not support all iPhone IOS images
Previously this could be fixed by changing the settings on the iPhone under Settings > Camera > Formats from High Efficiency to Most Compatible (although not idea as HF is the default setting) this work around however does not fix all images. And sometimes when a user takes a photo and uploads it, they will see a black image. They can send this image to themselves on telegram for example and then download and then re-uppload, this uploads it as a jpeg, but some quality is lost.
Is it possible for Invision Community to natively support direct images that are uploaded from iPhone 15 and later in Most Compatible most and ideally also High Efficiency mode also?
To confirm this is happening only sometimes and not on all photos.

I see profile blocking in robots.txt has been removed in the next release: https://invisioncommunity.com/release-notes/
Any markup updates coming in this release?

SeNioR- reacted to Jim M in Can't Upgrade Due to Issue with IPS License Server
Can’t use PHP 5.6 with latest release of version 4. PHP 8.0 or 8.1 required. Would also recommend a direct upgrade to latest as there could be bugs in the upgrader in 4.1
No license issues currently so might be a temporary connection issue or something on your hosting side possibly.

SeNioR- reacted to Jim M in Trying to get Google Credentials for Social Sign in.
Until you publish your app, you can only access it via test users. You would need to publish the app in Google's API console website in order for non-test users to access it.
It's worth mentioning that these providers do change frequently and while our guide may not match 100% (we will update it), the idea is there and it should still function.

This is correct on the front end. You would need to change it as admin if you needed to change the type of club. Please feel free to post this up within our feedback area if you wish to see this change in the future

SeNioR- reacted to Marc Stridgen in Locked out of my community (VPN issue)
That looks to be the ban page, but modified. The only way that can be showing on your site is if your IP is banned, in the scenario you mention. So I would advise checking the list again. If you are then unsure, please feel free to PM me your IP address when you see that issue, and ensure login details are up to date on file

SeNioR- reacted to opentype in How to find an app?
Mixoh’s last posts were in 2020, so I don’t think these products are being maintained anymore. Not to mention that the account is listed as “male” in “Ukraine” and software support isn’t the highest priority there at the moment.

A blank page is typically a PHP error. Have a look in your servers PHP Error log for any errors that occurred around the time you tried to upgrade
