There is a setting to allow the admin to choose whether to show pinned topics at the top or not when fluid mode has been chosen.

So you want IPS to get into the business of developing authentication software on a level of Authy, Google, etc?

Member History is more of an admin tool so that you can see what changes have happened to an account since it was created. For example, if you had placed a member in a specific group and they were auto-promoted based on a promotion rule you have set, their member history would show that, removing any confusion as to why they're now in a different user group.

    I hate when that happens.
Thanks, I just turned it on.

Groups, with permission, can still see Display Name History on the front-end on profiles. That particular area will only show name changes, however - not all of the other data. What that sentence means is just that the underlying system to store those changes has been moved over from it's own system, to this one, for consistency.
The same applies to Commerce customer history - there is no longer an independent system to store information on transactions, support requests, etc. That has all been migrated to this new central system, though the relevant data will still display on the Commerce customer information page.

Though we think we're pretty darn good at what we do, we can't be good at everything. There's a lot of great services out there that are superb at what they do, and it makes sense for us to integrate with them where it adds value for our own customers.

Don't like it, don't use it Sorry you were unable to work around those issues. From any site's perspective it's unreasonable to assume anything on something that's not even released yet
I'm still hopeful for coupons that persist through renewals but we'll see

One thing we do different here is that we do not show things off until they are done. No vaporware

Not yet. It has been requested a lot and, to be fair, AFAIK IPS has not ruled out the possibility of it appearing. I'm not a developer but I can imagine the logic behind trying to work out all the scenarios e.g. 2nd Tuesday, 3rd Wednesday or in my case the LAST Wednesday of every month must be horrendous.
The new Add Similar Event is a big help and will be worth checking out when 4.2 arrives.

YES YES YES! This are great news, especially "Add more images" and editing the name of more than one image by using a placeholder. As an poweruser of gallery, i will love 4.2 Thank you so much...

If you think that some of the apps are not getting updates, keep in mind that social media promotion, our picks, reactions and letter avatars are automatically used by all apps which delivers new features and new ways to provide content discovery and engagement.

This is the first blog entry by @Daniel F and he was a bit nervous writing it. I am sure he'll hate me saying that
But I think he did a great job and the feature will be really useful for those who heavily use our Downloads app.

If you have a lot of modifications, then it would be wise to wait for the modification authors to label their mods as "4.2 compatible" but otherwise, nothing should ever break.

Joel, I have many thoughts on this subject, but I do not think this comment feed is the venue. Lets discuss it nearer to 4.2s release.

Funnily enough I think it is a knee jerk reaction to assert that not including your request is therefore building tools for the lowest denominator.
I also think this tool already helps community managers get the job done, and having used the third-party alternatives I can say with confidence that it is all too easy to produce a mangled piece of crap in the race to juice up the software. Can this be improved? Probably. But you know, there's a good reason to iterate on something over time. I think that is where this tool is now.

Yes but by favouring automated processes in the way you're after, it will encourage the kind of awful bot posting that absolutely ruins social media feeds; I mean... that thing designers do (and we see it on this site) where they get all upset over misaligned text and whatever, THAT is how I feel about the bot culture that sharing automation has created. Of course everybody is responsible for themselves but if IPS can tip the scales in the favour of restrained, qualitative marketing then all the better.
Also, great, you now have automated promotions filling up your queue. You still have to go through that queue to avoid the scenario mentioned above. I find it difficult to see how that level of automation actually saves time.
I don't know... maybe if it was available but restricted by permissions? That could work, so you would only give it access to people you trust. Still doesn't stop admins from falling into the trap of just switching it on for everybody, though.

We were both right and both wrong.
You're right in that multiple forums are possible.  The way it's done, multiple categories wouldn't make sense.  It's just one simple menu.  I think IPS took a simple but very smart approach to it.
