Sonya* reacted to Randy Calvert in PHP 7.4 - 8.0
Hey.... I resemble that remark! I remember when 3.4 was the new hawtness.
Picture it... Sicilly... 2012....
The UK had informed the WHO of a novel coronavirus case originating out of Saudi Arabia (what would later be known as MERS). The largest Atlantic hurricane on record at the time, Hurricane Sandy, devastated the east coast of the US. Vladimir Putin was elected as President of Russia and Barack Obama was re-elected as President of the US. And in a small, quiet town... @Charles announced the best version of IPB ever made up to date.... version 3.4!
Ahhh... those were the days!

Sonya* reacted to JohnDar in CSS question...or disappointment
For my part, I would be happy if all CSS were readable, as before, for reference even if not editable. The latest patch shows modified CSS and allows reverts of existing changes but unchanged CSS are still hidden and therefore, you can't use search.
It was so useful being able to search for something (even something as simple as a colour) and then quickly locate the code, copy it and then paste a modded version into custom CSS.

Sonya* reacted to teraßyte in [BUG 4.7.0] \Helpers\Form\Upload doesn't allow anymore webp images
In 4.7.0 the file \system\Helpers\Form\Upload.php now uses \IPS\Image::$imageExtensions instead of \IPS\Image::supportedExtensions() to retrieve the list of supported image formats. Because of this change the webp format is not available anymore.

Yes, it works. I'll update the version in the Marketplace. But no changes to code are required.

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention! I can confirm this should be further reviewed and I have logged an internal bug report for our development team to investigate and address as necessary, in a future maintenance release.

Not young enough to be doing all that dancing and taking pictures stuff, thats for sure 😄

Sonya* reacted to CheersnGears in Hump Day: what are some of your community pain points?
I use the option of Pages creating the Topics for comments to do two things at once. Even with shorter stuff because there's the Article which I want/need to promote and the forums for the chatter about said article. I am in several Press guilds and while I'm not published in MotorTrend or Car & Driver, I do rub elbows with them and would like my articles to look professional and not just a post on a forum.
I'll select some articles to share tomorrow.

Sonya* reacted to MMXII in Record feed blocks with 0 replies
I never really understood why one would display 0 replies at all. This goes for any places, even in the forum lists. Why display anything, if nothing is there yet? I doubt that a "0" will motivate anybody to be the first one interacting. I think the look would be much cleaner, if any text that informs about "0 anything" was hidden and then it starts with the number 1, if a first reply/view/vote/download/whatever has happened.

Sonya* got a reaction from MMXII in Record feed blocks with 0 replies
In record feeds or activity stream blocks, the number of comments is always shown. Even if the comments are disabled from the database.
Please respect the setting and do not display the number of replies for the database records where replies are not possible.

Sonya* reacted to Day_ in Hidden Posts Improvements
Hidden Posts
When a post is hidden by a moderator, the member that created the post should still be able to see the hidden post (in pink) and reason why it was hidden.
Notification
When a post is hidden, the member should also receive a notification that their post has been hidden, linking to the post which will show the reason why.
But why?
1) It eliminates the confusion, did I post that or not, I’m sure I did but where’s it gone? Now if the member repeat posts I have grounds to slap them with a warning to obey my authority.
2) I can’t expect moderators to engage privately with members over every hidden post, no member ever likes to be censored and would tie the moderators up in a back and forth but why not that or this type of conversation.
Further Suggestion
With the above, allow the option to keep the moderator anonymous to the member. Also an option to require a reason when hiding so the moderator cannot leave it blank.
Great suggestion? I thought so too.

Sonya* reacted to Lindor in New Copy & Paste properties
Hi team, I think that will be usefull to add another property when we copy and paste content in any post or reply. We need can to add text as plane text but with links. Wee need delete all styles but keeping the links in content.
The rich text add a lot of useless code that we dont need. If we paste as plane text and we need to create every link again can be a hard work with many links.
Can you take a look to add this propertie in future updates?
Thanks a lot!

Sonya* reacted to opentype in Hump Day: how do you onboard members into your community?
Sure, and I am not asking for a drip campaign checkbox. I am asking how to have a proper workflow for everyone involved. The technical ability alone to push an email through Zapier isn’t enough.
-
Sonya* reacted to Matt in Hump Day: how do you onboard members into your community?
My understanding is that you can send emails related to the service they signed up for. It's when you start sending them adverts for other services that you are on shaky ground.
Sending a sequence of welcome emails and guidance how to use the community is fair, and I cannot see how this would be deemed "illegal".
We work with brands in the EU who have whole departments dedicated to legal and they have no issue with a welcome email sequence.

Sonya* reacted to opentype in Hump Day: how do you onboard members into your community?
As mentioned before, I don’t see how these options can be implemented legally. How do these methods ask for consent to receive multiple emails in the future? How do we get consent to have the email (i.e. personal data) routed through multiple 3rd-party services in the background? What happens if users turn off notifications/bulk mail in their account? How do we stop the drip campaigns then? What happens if the user deletes their account entirely?
It’s 2022. This approach of “you registered, now we can shower you with emails” luckily ended when GDPR became legally binding. I don’t like to be on the receiving end of such unwanted emails and therefore I also don’t want to send them out unless it is legal and there is proper consent.
-
Sonya* reacted to Daniel F in Hump Day: how do you onboard members into your community?
If you're NOT interested into complex mail campaigns via mail chimp and co, you can utilize the built in Zapier features to create an onboarding email process.
Here's an example zap:
When a member registers, I use the Zapier Delay feature to run the next step delayed instead of immediately, which is really handy.
Member registers => wait a day and send an email, then wait another week and run the other stuff.

Sonya* reacted to opentype in Nexus: Invoices.
Agreed.
Minor corrections:
viewing alone doesn’t create an invoice, but starting a checkout. The invoice should be created at the last step of the checkout when the users clicks “place order”. That’s when the purchase becomes legally binding for both sides. It is NOT necessarily the moment of payment, as there can be payment options like “manual wire transfer”. The invoice wouldn’t be delayed in this case. It still belongs to the moment of the purchase. -
Sonya* reacted to Matt in CKEditor 4 end of life - alternative editor consideration
I don't really see what advantages the others have over CKEditor 5.
Whichever we choose, there is a significant time investment to rewrite our plugins and parts of our uploader, etc.

Could you give some specifics for which CKeditor features that doesn't function properly on a mobile device compared to the other editors you're referring to?
