There are portions of the codebase that doesn't get utilized by the average site owner. There could be certain settings that get enabled that utilize a section of code that might not play well with new PHP releases. It's in the realm of possibility that one site might not encounter any compatibility issues.
One site claiming that all is well in the world doesn't necessarily mean that everyone's world will be peachy.  It's quite possible that there might be problems yet to be discovered.
Although some folks step us to beta test each build its pretty much a free for all. People will randomly test things likely leaving portions of the suite untested.
With "some" structure thrown around client beta testing a larger amount of the code could be tested minimizing the amount of follow up releases needed to be fully compatible with each new PHP release.
Helping marketplace developers better address future PHP releases would be a worthy conversation to have between IPS and the community.

The other thing to remember is that while Invision may support 8.0/8.1.x, this isn't necessarily true for third-party developers, who are of varying aptitude.  I just installed PHP 8.0.x on my development site, which dies with an error 500 unless I disable my third-party customizations (which means that one of them isn't coding properly somewhere for PHP 8.x).  And I don't currently have time to troubleshoot.  So there's support, and then there's support.

LiquidFractal got a reaction from Sonya* in very minor tweak re: comments on files
When someone comments (or responds to a comment) on a Downloads file and they're set to receive email notifications, I notice that they receive an email which has only the file name as the subject line ("X").  It might be nicer (not to mention a bit clearer) if the email were titled something like "Comment on file: X" so that at first glance through the legions of email I receive each morning I know that it's a comment which has been added.  Just a thought.  Thanks!

Yeah we currently use a template hack where we duplicate a bunch of elements (category sidebar, product groups on the index, possibly others) and specify which member groups can see what.  Its messy, and would be amazing if product groups could have permissions of their own.
For our use case, we would use the group permissions to show resellers/vendors special packages only they can access, while simultaneously hiding the public-facing packages from them.   The opposite would be true for guests and regular customers.

    Hello,
I was wondering if you had any plans to enable the creation of Commerce Product Groups which are only visible to/accessible by certain member groups?  I see some organisational benefits to this, as in my specific case (and I presume others) it would save having to tweak individual products if you only want them visible to certain groups.  It might also be a good promotional strategy to show people what they can't have unless and until they upgrade their membership etc.?
    Thanks!

For requests like this, I would suggest to clearly state which country has such requirements, what the law is called and so on. It’s much better to judge the validity and the impact this way.

Thank you for your topic. I have provided responses to your questions below.

There is no way in which to obtain a log for these at the present time.
Have you tested this on a default unaltered theme? If so, please let me know what browser and device you are testing with so I can take a look for you. That would be a bug rather than a feature request.
This is not something that is possible at the present time with guests. You can do it if its only members who are going to view, as you can simply switch the site offline until people are logged in, and add this information to your privacy policy, forcing it to be accepted.
While I understand your concern and wish for this to be added in the near future, we have to decide on whether to add features, spec them out fully, it then has to be designed on the front end, coded by developers, tested, added to beta versions, then released. We are unable to simply add features to the software very quickly, as it has to go through this process. Quite simply, development unfortunately takes time.

LiquidFractal got a reaction from OptimusBain in Option for homepage title to put site title first (not catchline/secondary title)?
I know this has been discussed before (somewhere), but I'd like an option for to switch around the main title and catchline/secondary title of one's website for the generated title of site pages...at least for the homepage?
I get the logic behind having each generated site page list the site area first, then the title (e.g., "Forums - LiquidFractal"), but my current homepage simply includes the catchline first, then the site ("Crystallising Open Learning - LiquidFractal").  This really doesn't look very nice, so I was hoping I could switch them around at least for the homepage, which would look better in searches, bookmarks, etc. since my business lists them the other way around in the first place...
I'm pretty sure someone somewhere once wrote a plugin or something which does something like this, but I'm not sure.  Anyway, it would be a good idea to control it at least on the homepage.

    Hey @rebraf,
A friendly suggestion for the next version. 🙂
In the adminCP, when you click Members under DRIP CAMPAIGNS, you see a list of members who have had drip campaigns assigned to them and the status of the campaign.  Cool.  However, as someone who has to manually trigger reminder campaigns for clients whose accounts are running low, is it possible to include the date of the last trigger in this list?  I know the most recent appear at the top of the list, but some of my clients burn through far more of my time than others so if this list were dated I'd know when the last was sent out to make sure I wasn't needlessly spamming.
So if, in adminCP > Campaigns > Members, the headings were something like Name - Email - Campaign - Date Triggered - Status I think that would be helpful.  Thanks!

I'm always interested in what you'd add if you had control of the roadmap. Let's try not to move this into a debate over how feedback is managed.

I'm reading every comment, and there's already a good number of items that I've thought about adding so just reading these suggestions helps validate those ideas and allows me a useful insight into what you'd like based on running your communities.

I also read the last topic and took away notes.

Development can be slow, we have our pipeline mostly filled until summer so it while it may appear that not much is going on, be assured that lots of things are.

We are continuing with the monthly releases. Every month we deliver a new update with dozens of bug fixes and feature tweaks/additions. I like this cadence as it makes each release smaller and more manageable.

Videos do not work in email (most email clients do not allow them) and so Invision strips videos out of emails. This has nothing to do with the drip campaign application itself I'm afraid.
The only way to "test" the campaign would be to assign it to yourself in the ACP manually.

We have not yet gone through our own code and tested this. Whether or not you use it is entirely up to yourself, but we cannot advise on this until we have checked, and if you encounter issues you would need to revert that before we would be able to issue support.
In short, if you are asking if it should, then yes probably. If you are asking if I can guarentee this, the answer would be no. Not until we have stated the software to work with that version

LiquidFractal reacted to Cannabis Connect in Hump Day: do you use the Clubs feature?
If there is one major take-away that I have learned from my 10 years of experience as a user of Professional's Networked Community (PNC) platforms... It's that the ability to spin off, or spawn, a group or sub-groups is a feature that few social media sites possess, nor do well, if they do have the capability. IPS has done quite well with their quick provisioning functionality. Perhaps one minor suggestion is to be thinking about the next generation of these "Club" pseudonyms:
I educate new users by directing them to Communities-of-interest or Communities-of-Practice. Under these two basic community segments we can harness cohorts such as the following based on your site's business and community growth objectives:
Industry Cluster - Businesses collaborate using similar or common business models which are determined by an NAICS or SIC code. This allows them to share industry benchmarking data.
    Executive Think Tanks (ETTs)
    Special Interest Groups (SIGs)
    Bird's-of-a-feather (BOFs)
Thanks for your interest in IPS "Clubs" feature!

LiquidFractal got a reaction from Cannabis Connect in Hump Day: do you use the Clubs feature?
Sure!  I currently use Clubs (renamed "Spaces") for two broad branches of clientele: students and clients for whom I write documentation.
For my students, I create private "Learning Spaces" with forums, a blog, and a media gallery.  Because I discuss works of fiction and films with my students, this works very well as they can post essay topics and general questions and we can have online conversations about them between tutoring sessions (which is a big selling point).  Moreover, they are required to work with films, so posting still shots in a media gallery allows us to have detailed discussions about how shots are framed, what metalanguage can be used to analyse the moment, and so forth.
I'm also ramping up group tutoring options, and Clubs/Spaces are a natural for that  All of my tutoring is online, so I don't know where I'd be without either Clubs or the Invision platform in general. 🙂
For my documentation clients, I use a Download center to hold versions of the projects we're working on.  I don't use forums quite as often for many of these clients (as they prefer to work on Teams), but we do occasionally use them.  Moreover, this allows me to group information on different clients in one place, and as a freelancer the Downloads component allows me to retain my ownership over the content I create until payment is received.
I've also hosted academic reading groups who focus on specific philosophers or concepts, and, like tutoring, the Spaces come in very handy for holding conversations in between reading group meetings.  I've also used them for philosophy courses I've given in the past here at the Melbourne School for Continental Philosophy as a useful complement.

LiquidFractal got a reaction from OptimusBain in Let Admin add members (groups even?) to a Follow?
I think it would be great if, as Admin, I could manually have members (or perhaps even groups?) Follow a forum, Club, gallery, etc. using the existing Follow menu with an added admin-only option.
I use the Clubs module to create private spaces for my work with clients, and thus it's essential that they receive notification when I post or reply in their spaces. It's easy enough to show them how the Clubs components work, but it would save some time (for me anyway) if, as Admin, I was able to manually add them.  Basically, if I don't show them how to click Follow they won't do it (which poses issues for time-sensitive projects).  I can always log in as a member and click Follow to add them, but this would save lots of time in the end.
I don't know if there might be privacy issues regarding this, but the way I see it there are theoretically more privacy issues involved with my logging in as member X and clicking Follow anyway!

    Another idea.
What if we wanted to toggle on/off one of the steps in the drip campaign? I can't see a place to pause one of the steps, only edit it, clone it and delete it.
I may not want to delete it, just pause it because I want to edit it or I want to try another step without deleting the one I had created. At the moment. the only way to not send one of the steps is by eliminating it completely from the campaign.
    Thanks a lot.

@rebraf Is there a possibility to add a trigger when a user downloads a specific file? That would be great. There are times when you want members to download a file or an ebook in the downloads module. It would be great to have campaigns for the Downloads as well.
    Thanks
