This feature/change was introduced in 4.4, so it should be the same 🙂

A while back we moved this from a global setting to an individual admin notification setting so each administrator could receive this and other notifications that they desired. You can set this in the ACP > Notification bell (top right) > Notification Settings.

To confirm, they are filling out the log in form with their details on your community and hitting the "Sign In" button on the form? They aren't hitting the Twitter button by accident, whether that is via a click, hitting enter, or some other button?
If yes, they are hitting the "Sign In" button, do you have a Profile Competition step which suggests adding a Twitter login? I know you said they are being immediately redirected but just wanted to check that they didn't click it before?

The problem is the recent release of IPS is not one I wish to install onto my board. Guess I'll just keep pressing "X" every 24 hours.
I completely agree. Seeing it every 24 hours is a bit much... it is up to us to either upgrade or not upgrade. It has nothing to do with a security update. It has to do with the release of the new forum release itself, and not wanting said-release installed. I could understand if a board were running 4.6 release, but not if one is still running 4.5 by choice.

Elasticsearch will provide vastly superior search results, however it is a remote service so your community will need to make HTTP requests to it in order to index the content, and to fetch the search results. That said, the searching is faster than MySQL particularly for larger data sets.
Generally speaking, if you get to a million or two posts, you should probably switch over to ElasticSearch. Before that point, you would really just need to try it out and see if you prefer it or not. If you have a really fast server and a relatively smaller site, you may find that local MySQL searches are sufficient, and perform faster, than a remote service.

I would advise editing those configurations so you can see the custom URL. From that screen, you still cannot see it but the uploads configuration is in use.

This, or even better, do it like vB did it, make security updates available to every release version.

Seeing the same message (or messages) every day even though I dismissed the same message the previous day is supremely annoying.  Unfortunately, it's not always easy to just upgrade your forum when such a message appears.  Smaller forums, sure, but when you have a large forum with a custom theme (as well as third-party themes) and various third-party plugins and applications (many of which were custom jobs written for your forum), it's non-trivial to just update your forum on a whim, especially with major revisions of the software.  I know I need to upgrade the forum, I don't need to be reminded every single time I visit my forum or ACP.

Hey, I don't know if it is at all possible, but is there a way to disable the upgrade banner that pops up every single 24 hours without updating or having to click "X" every single time??

It is a bit annoying especially if you don't upgrade right away. Once is enough or maybe a little message by the version # saying "upgrade available". This huge announcement type banner on the front end and back end is overkill. I would pay for a plugin to eliminate that.

Probably its possible to do it with a theme edit, i hope so.
I took some time to update from 4.5 to 4.6, because some of my plugins were not compatible, and it's really annoying to receive the same notification every single day, and every admin of the forum receives it.
Im not sure the reason behind that. Once we receive the notification one time, we know there is an update. We don't need to receive that notification every single day till we are ready to do the upgrade.

In my opinion, it would be great if there was an option in the group settings which disallowed IP logging. This would be useful for administrators, moderators, and groups for people that have a thing for privacy.
A good reason to disable IP logging for admins/mods is that if a security breach ever occurs, the forum administration team will badly be affected (affected the most).

AtariAge reacted to Sirmadsen in A Few Suggestions
    Hi!
I have a few minor suggestions I think should be implemented, well, basically two features that would help a lot, not only for me I believe.
1a. Let's start with something I can't understand that isn't a feature yet. Custom formatting for Downloads Extra Fields. This would be highly useful for formatting different custom fields (which I use a lot of) and make them stand out. But the most important and the reason why I personally want this feature is to be able to output links (URL) as a proper link text. Say that there is another website that provide support for the download I offer and I want to direct users to that website. I would make a Extra Field, naming it "External Support" and then choose URL as Field Type. Easy pieacy. Well, if the URL to the external site is extremely long or just look bad with a lot of symbols and numbers, meh, not good. Imagine being able to then put in a custom formatting that would make the link go from "externalsite . com /thisisalooooongsupportlinkwithstrange-2321-%2211-numbersandstuff" to "Go Here"... Wow, mind blown.
I mean, it can already be done in Profile fields as Custom profile formatting, so why not in downloads? Please, show Downloads app some love soon, some of us actually use at the main app.
1b. (Less important) Make it possible to choose several categories to add a download to, not just one. Or maybe after you've chose category, being able to choose secondary categories would be nice.
    2. Simple feature suggest, please do something about the current Marketplace option where we can't download working plugins and themes unless they are updated to the installed exact IPS version. Running 4.6 completely lock me out from installing working 4.5 plugins and themes. Can't install them from ACP, can't download them from IPS... Not a great user experience.

    Thank you for reading xD

Thanks for the response.  I see it does the same thing here, never noticed that before.  Wish this was an option -- this just looks confusing to me, and is not the sort of thing I expected to see after buying the file.  I am absolutely going to be asked, "Why does it still show the purchase button after I already bought the file?"  I can see the case for someone wanting to purchase multiple licenses for a file, but I'd rather see a "Gift" option where you can purchase a license for another member of the forum.  Many digital stores offer this, and it's something I've used numerous times in the past when purchasing licenses.  And it's definitely something that would get used by people on my site.
Let me think about this before I take any action.

How can I prevent this?  Settings for this are all over the place, so it's a bit confusing to setup.

    Greetings,
I'm working on setting up paid downloads on my site.  After setting up the payment options and permissions, I uploaded a new file, set the price to $15, and purchased it using a credit card.  After doing so, I see the "Download this file" button, but I also see the, "Buy Now - $15.00" button, even though I've already purchased the file.  Why is this button still visible?

Thanks in advance for any insight.

I've given up on this happening.  It's been two years since my first post on this subject above, and nothing's happened yet.  Which is a shame, I've created several new forums on my site since then, and it's nigh impossible to move all the relevant threads without being able to mass moderate topics based on a search.  Really disappointed in Invision regarding this, as it was an important tool for those with large sites that have many forums and posts.

I finally got this working.  I ended up installing PHPMailer and writing a PHP script to send mail using the same parameters the forum should be using.  When I turned full debugging on, I could clearly see that the server was blocking the outgoing requests..
I then dug through the WHM firewall settings more carefully, and saw several related to SMTP..  Including this one:

After turning this off, it all worked magically.  I'll be monitoring it for a while to make sure A) I'm still getting emails from the forum and B) The bounces are being properly captured and accounts are disabled.
I definitely should create a guide for this to save others from the headaches I ran into!
Seems to be working well so far, it's already blocked for members for having bad emails, and I know there are tons more.  Hopefully this will help cleanup my mail reputation so Gmail and other providers stop dumping mails from my domain into users' spam folders!

After playing with this some more, I'm pretty sure Amazon SES/SNS is setup properly, but I simply cannot get past the "Connection Refused" when I attempt to use Amazon's SMTP server with my credentials.
I was able to use this page to manually test sending emails on the command line from the same server, so it's not a firewall issue, either:
    https://docs.aws.amazon.com/ses/latest/DeveloperGuide/send-email-smtp-client-command-line.html
That worked without issues.  I have no idea why it's failing when going through the forum.  I did have one instance where Amazon started sending emails even though I still received the "Connection Refused" report from the ACP, and there were even two bounces for which I received bounce emails from Amazon and Mail Bouncer did catch them as well:

However, try as I might, I simply cannot get the ACP setup without getting the errors.  I'm not sure why it worked briefly one time, even though the ACP still reported the refused connection.  I also looked through Amazon SES and could not see anything in the way of an error log that might provide some insight, nor do I see anything like that in the ACP.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can try to resolve this?
    Thanks!

I've setup Amazon SES and SNS to the best of my abilities (considering I've never used these services before), but when I try to setup SMTP to point to the Amazon server, I get a "Connection Refused" message from the ACP, and then any emails it attempts to send also get the "Connection Refused" message without further details..  The ACP reported,
    IPS\Email\Outgoing\Exception: Connection refused (111)
I am using Cloudflare, and I did setup the bypass firewall rule for the endpoint, but I'm not even getting that far.
I have the right SMTP credentials entered in the ACP:

Screenshot on Amazon (not too useful, since I'm not going to show the actual credentials):

Domain and email (editor@atariage.com, which is the email address used by the forum) are setup and verified.  I sent a test message from within SES and received it fine.
I have notifications setup as follows:

Topic subscription is setup as follows:

Here's the endpoint firewall rule I setup in Cloudflare.  Haven't setup anything else there related to this yet:

Any insight anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Hopefully it's something simple I'm missing..
    Thank you and take care!
