What's New in Version 1.5.3:

Enhancements:

  • Upon request, the textarea was replaced by an editor in the form to apply to an open position (image below)
    • Remember that you can also use Applications Fields to add your own fields and thus customize the form at your wish

Fix:

  • Thumbnail on the index

I was thinking...  this app is great and could also be used for members to apply to become members of a "closed" club.  Right now, if you have a closed club you have to "contact" the club owner and request access - which probably, leads to a lot of back an fourth, etc.  Giving people the ability to apply to join a closed club seems far more professional to me (if the club owner wants to go that route, not mandatory or anything).

It can actually be used for that purpose already without any changes.  But what would make using it that way better, would be an option to auto allow a member to a club if their application is accepted - much like the existing promote member feature.

Just a suggestion.

I'll consider it when I have to update it in a future version. Just released a version to fix an issue. 👍

Can anyone tell me what is and how to use Position fields - http://prntscr.com/s1jwoj ?

From my understanding Application fields are where you can add questions to the form which user fills while applying?
Then what is Position fields for?

Thank you.

Extra fields for the open position. You can add whatever you want; any type of field. Same reply from here: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/433705-quizzes/?do=findComment&comment=2816089

Yes, thank you for the reply but can you tell me how to use it? I added a bunch of questions in the Position Field in ACP but how do I use it on front end?

Can you give an example of how to use it? Thank you.

Edit the position and these fields will appear in the form. Select the ones you want to this position and it will appear when someone tries to apply. It’s in the screenshots:

Yes,

I know but that is settings from Applications Field option and not Position Field option.

Here :
Application and Positions field - http://prntscr.com/s1x3um
My Application Field settings - http://prntscr.com/s1x3h6
My Position Field settings - http://prntscr.com/s1x3zt

While applying - http://prntscr.com/s1x506 it only shows the option for Application Field.

Also, is there a setting to remove the description box? I just want users to see the questions I set and answer them.

You inverted it!

POSITION FIELD is the content item:

622945260_Screenshot4.png.ebc52973466b84

And uses this form:

941465223_Screenshot3.png.16f99d764974d2

APPLICATIONS FIELDS are fields for people who will apply to the position:

Screenshot12.PNG.6b32ac70a74b3943ba3642a

So PERSONAL questions (fields) should be place in APPLICATIONS FIELDS, not in POSITION FIELDS!

How do I make POSITIONS FIELDS to appear?

  • Create your fields
  • Edit the CATEGORIES you want theses fields to be used
  • Choose the fields and save
  • These fields will appear in the OPEN POSITION form when you're creating/editing it

How do I make APPLICATIONS FIELDS to appear?

  • Create your fields
  • Create one OR edit ONE EXISTING OPEN POSITION and choose the fields you want to be used
  • Save the OPEN POSITION
  • These fields will appear when someone tries to APPLY to the OPEN POSITION

So fields like

xNJoGZQ.png

Should be used in the APPLICANTS FIELDS to people who will apply, as they are PERSONAL questions!

Sorry, I don't know how to explain it more clearly!

I have a question maybe someone can answer, I have the application system installed and working for the most part but when assigning permissions its hit or miss on when departments can review there applications I have the Group "Civilian Director" with all the missions boxes ticked and the user can not see any button other than apply.

Can someone explain the permissions to me so that I have a better understanding of how they work to make my task of setting up and assigning people to different application department.

I had the comment/reviews enabled and it was not working So I attempted with them off and it was the same outcome.

Does this user hás secondary groups? The only thing checked there is the permission, which is enabled for the group, according to you. If the user is on a secondary group, check to see if it’s enabled and make a test. Just trying to guess things here. Never heard any issue with this, which by the way is all core methods.

Send a message with an ACP account if it insists. I’ll take a look tomorrow in the morning.

so can i change it from staffapplications to  careers ?

You can but there’s a very old bug in Core that prevents to do it via Admin CP so you would need to download a file, edit, save and upload to your server. After that, you would need to run the support tool to rebuild cache. The worst part: you will have to do this every time I release a new version because the changes will be overridden.

Take a look if you’re still interested: https://invisioncommunity.com/forums/topic/433280-error-with-furl-changes/?do=findComment&comment=2714900

I didn’t test it but I doubt. Someone from IPS said in another topic that it wasn’t planned to work as we want, etc. Just to be clear: this is a Core thing and affects any app; this is not a problem of my resource.

Anyway, I’ll test tomorrow and will reply back.
