Submitting Facebook App for Review

Why is this so complicated? I'm trying to get the Facebook Share and Promote functions to work on two forum sites and it is next to impossible to figure out! Does anyone have a detailed step by step for the newest procedures for getting the Facebook side submitted properly  (which includes uploading VIDEOS!)?

I struggled with this as well.  FB approved my modify_pages request, but denied my post_pages.  It's annoying.  Despite only one of the requests being enabled, the functionality appears to now be activated in IPS.

I would also appreciate guidance from others as to what they told FB to get this active.

I had a bad experience with FB submission. When I submitted my app for a review, some hours later my account was locked and I received an email from FB stating that someone may have tried to access my account. They wanted me to send a picture of my government-issued ID. After that they opened my account but in FB Developers page I saw a message saying: "You're restricted from creating apps indefinitely." I managed to have some more information about why I'm being restricted and it said my app is abusing their terms of service. Like WHAT? I did everything a step-by-step from IPS Guides. FB has this nice help center where nobody READS what you write to them, they send you an automated messages, only the sender's name changes... Long story short... I know how you guys feel.

Providing you are the administrator of the pages, you do not need to submit anything for verification. As an administrator Facebook grants you full permission to use the various scopes. - App reviews are for the situations where you want other users (such as your visitors) to be able to use the functionality.

Recap: You don't need to submit an app for verification to use the promotion tools.

If that is the case, I (we?) STILL need a comprehensive step by step process for getting through all of the settings on Facebook and until someone can do that for me (us?) then site promotion is useless, for me anyway. I just deleted what I had in Facebook and tried to start over........it's crazy and I'm just shooting in the dark. You folks keep saying it's "easy" and that it doesn't require submitting an App for verification, then it shouldn't be hard to write a comprehension step by step "How To" document that's up to date with current Facebook policies/procedures. Please help us through this gauntlet, for me itr's my BIGGEST disappointment in this product!

To my knowledge, you don't need any of those for IPS to function. Remove them from your FB app and try again.

Okay, that makes things simple ?

I thought by having those in and working it would allow users to check a "Share on Facebook" box on their posts like it currently has for twitter. Also trying to figure out how to do this with google +.

@Aiwa or someone, I'm having trouble getting the oauth to allow my requests.

URL Blocked: This redirect failed because the redirect URI is not whitelisted in the app’s Client OAuth Settings. Make sure Client and Web OAuth Login are on and add all your app domains as Valid OAuth Redirect URIs.

I've tried adding a similar adress as above stated: https://communityname/applications/core/interface/facebook/auth.php as well as http://communityname/applications/core/interface/facebook/auth.php and https://communityname/community/applications/core/interface/facebook/auth.php (being the forum part, communityname being our main page before the forum itself) both with http and https.

I cant seem to find anywhere where another adress would be stated to be used.

I've also tried to add my domain to app domains, but it only allows one domain there it seems. So I cant add for example http(s)://communityname.net/community and without /community

If you wouldn’t hide your actual website, we just visit it and check what the correct URL should be.

I managed to get it to work to sign in with facebook at least.

It wont let me post to our social media account though.

Invalid Scopes: manage_pages, publish_pages, user_managed_groups. This message is only shown to developers. Users of your app will ignore these permissions if present. Please read the documentation for valid permissions at: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/facebook-login/permissions

Is what it tells me, which seems to be the same as before basically. Since Facebook wont allow the application access to those.
