Double-clicking "Submit" button allows double posting

I have noticed that if you accidentally click the "Submit" button twice, your post will be submitted twice. Shouldn't there be some something to prevent this?

I'm seeing an increased number of double posts on my forum too, although I can't reproduce it with a double click. I don't yet know what's causing it.

Can I double click and double post?

Nope - as soon as the Submit button is clicked it turns to 'Saving' button so that rules that one out.

Other possible causes: a perceived delay in the person's submission, they get bored and refresh the page and then they see some auto-saved data in the post box and they press Submit again. Result: a double post.

Just another voice in the "my board goes through transient spells of double-posting" camp.  A week or so ago I was answering a poster who was asking about what they were doing wrong as they were suddenly double-posting and my answer was itself double-posted. Wheee. For a couple hours my "posts" were not double-posted but all my replies were (multiple browsers, multiple accounts). Yet not everyone was.  Then things quieted down again.

I blame poltergeists ?

I am actually having a big issue with double posting.

We're also getting lots of double and triple post issues

My entire forum has suddenly started double posting everything for ever user.

How can I work out what's going on and stop it from happening?

I'm getting a lot with 4.1.6.1.

I'm also getting blank pages after posts are submitted. I think sometimes when users reload the page their post submits again, perhaps.

@Lindy This double posted when I posted and refreshed a minute later (left tab open, came back a minute later, refreshed). Multiple tabs open browsed with another. Hope that helps.
