another idea for the spam

Hi! The spam is aghhh <_< I would like to have an option in the cpanel where I could choose some email domains that I dont like some users have. The spams emails use to be ".ru", ".info"... So with this option the registration form wouldnt accept those emails and they have to choose others. I thin that it would be a new good option for spamming <_<

BBCode Acronym
by Guest Brendon Koz- 5 replies
- 2.4k views
I'm not sure how new this BBCode tag is, however it doesn't seem to work properly. I saw it just today while making a post and checking out the "BB Code Help" popup window. The example shows the following: <acronym title="" laugh="" out="" loud="">lol</acronym> I know that's not correct. I'll test here in the forum as well to see if it's just the example or if it's the parsing in general: lol ...okay, after a preview I realize it's close, but still wrong. It's backwards.

Upon doing a test upgrade in order to test my forum for the final version of IPB 2.2 i have noticed that when i allow the upgrader to upgrade my skins, it upgrades all of the HTML perfectly. Would anyone happen to know what i would need to edit to re-add the Quick Edit function into my skins?

ok I know that my yearly licenses I have that are still good will transfere to standard and I will only pay 30 bucks every six months to get updates. Here are the questions. If I wait will that license also go to a standard and all i pay is 30 bucks for 6 months of updates? THe next kicker is this. Lets say I have three standard licenses. Now one expires but there are no updates becuase there was just one 2 weeks ago. Can I wait untill the next update and then pay 30 bucks for 6 months? Meaning…

Attachments thumnail issue
by Guest Amano- 0 replies

Hi, I have a test board for IPB 2.2.0 RC3, after I post my reply, the board makes un-resized thumbnail, but the original image size, and when I click it I see the same original image size. I should go to the recount/rebuild tab and rebuild attachment thumbnails to fix all thumbnails to the dimension set in the ACP. I set it to be 300x300 pixels maximum, but as you see it's the original size and breaks the board layout I hope you understand my problem.

Auto MySQL Backup
by Guest lisss001- 21 replies
- 5.5k views
I think that It would be an excellent idea to integrate a features into Invision Powerboard for automatic database backup. This would be a logical and useful feature of the forum software which could be used to either save a copy of the database locally or send it to a specified email addesss in a compressed format. I know that it is currently possible to obtain modifications which can do this, however I feel that it would be even better if it was a part of the forum software anyway. I mean it would help virtually any webmaster restore a board in virtually minutes if a site went down. Also another reason why I would like this to be a prt of the forum software is that not …

Can I ask if a feature to redirect new members to a pre-made topic created by an admin or moderator, when they logs in for the first time in forum, will be included in IPB 2.2? I made a request for this MOD in ipsbeyond.com and IZE for 2.1.7, but I didn

Code Freeze
by Guest Rick Henson- 2 replies

Just wondering if the code is frozen in RC3? The reason I am asking is that some of the developers for addons are refusing to look at 2.2 until the code is frozen. So if the code is frozen then I would like to pass that on so that they can start adapting their code to IPB's Thanks,

I must be a bit slow...
by Guest ZenithRS- 21 replies

... but can someone point me to the documentation for IPB? I've just spent a small fortune on IPB and so far the installer is buggy (it crashes with a MYSQL syntax error if you don't provide a table prefix) and the link provided at the end of the installation to documentation just loads invision's front page. Half an hour of clicking around the site and I've found nothing. It shouldn't be that hard to find. Not real impressed so far. And yes, I know it's not a "stable" release, but one would think these basics would be in place for an RC  Oh, and invision's page doesn't render correctly in Firefox.

Spam control
by Guest paulnattress- 6 replies
Just an idea about spam control. All new members have to have their first 2 (or however many) post viewed by a moderator before they can be posted on the forums. If any of these posts are spam, they can be deleted along with the member's account. One way for a spammer to get around this is to create several posts with meaningless content in the, such as "Hi, I like your site, it's great." but I'm sure an intelligent moderator can spot these. If the above feature can't be implemented, is there any way to do it by using the group promotion feature?

Hi Guys ;) I got da question about the language system. I now got 2 languages in my iPB - German (from 2.1.7) and the english from 2.2. How can i translate the english into german - or how can i check the differences (missing phrases in german pack --> english pack). Can you make a translate function into the acp, which showas the german AND english language on one page, like in the vbulletin - to translate ? I mean a table where standing german & english of the phrase, so i can see, what i must fill into the german phras, to translate it. thanks very much My 2nd question is: If i use german language, why there are empty fields (i think thats the phrases, …

Components & Languages issue...
by Guest Dan- 7 replies
- 3.7k views
This isn't technically classed as a 'bug', but there is an issue with the new component links option for adding a link in the global board header. The default IPS components (for example, blog) use {ipb.lang['blog']} in their 'com_url_title' field in the components table. This correlates with $lang['blog'] taken from lang_global.php. Which means that when the language setting is changed, the titles of these component links will be changed as well. The issue is that as {ipb.lang[' ']} does not take into account other / custom language files that module authors send out with their components, there is no way for those components to have language-ready auto links. Wh…

When we access the control pannel of the board the url to it is kept in the browser and it allows you to gain access to the administrative section even after the administrator is logged out. Was something done with this new version to make the link expire so if someone uses the computer they cannot get into the administrative section of the board by clicking on the link that's in the browser historic?
