Allow IPB to connect to MySQL on different port

Featured Replies

I am beginning to beta test IPB 2.2 and set up a second MySQL instance on our servers which listens on a different port. How do I configure IPB to connect to MySQL on this port?

Thanks!

Please post this question on IPS Beyond. It is certainly possible, however this isn't really feedback for IPB 2.2 :)

Why run multiple MySQL instances?, just create a different database and point it at that..

My apologies. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Well, he mentioned that he is beta testing, so he might have MySQL 5.1 running on one port/socket and MySQL 5.0 on another.

Or he could be working on load-balancing, or any number of things. It's really irrelevant. :) I can see multiple possible reasons for wanting to use the feature.

Just as an FYI, for those who want to know. Yes, I have a production version of IPB using MySQL v4.0 and now I am beta testing 2.2 with MySQL 5.0 on the same box. :)
