When a member is under moderation it would be nice if the rest of the topic was show (i.e. the previous posts) - this would then show as to whether the post was good or bad in context with the thread.

I have a real problem in certain areas of my forum (2.3.6) with spam. Their is a lot of spam posts being made by autoposters and IP blocking and banning isn't working. I want to add a captcha to just one area and to the members usergroup. I don't really want my trusted members group or VIP's (along with staff) to have to use the captcha. It will be just for making a new topic in certain forums. This already exists for PHPBB and vBulletin as a plugin mod and I was wondering if it could be added to IPB or does something already exist I haven't yet found. I can think of one place on the public side of IP. Board where it would be really nice to have AJAX to save a couple page loads. When subscribing to a topic and/or forum! It'd be great if when clicking "Watch" you stayed on the same page and a popup came up with the different options (same ones as when you are taken to the subscription page), be able to indicate the type of notification you want in the popup on the same page... and then submit it as well without a page load. I find it sooo annoying to have to be redirected around to select what kind of notification you want and then back to the topic... just to watch a topic. I know, with all the exposure I've had …

I've seen this in the huge feature request thread several times, but would like to make sure it doesn't get lost. I'd like the ability for Tags in topics and an optional Tag Cloud that can appear in the right column where watched topics/recent topics etc are. I'm getting a bunch of requests for this from our users so I'd really really like to see this included. Bill

This follows on from the discussion in the Customer Lounge regarding skins.. specifically my objection to there being no backgrounds and or borders on a lot of CONTENT areas of the board. Dearest Darling Rikki.... It would appear that there are a large number of areas of Content blocks within the Default skin (upon which all skins are based) that do not have backgrounds specified.. they are relying on the body background, which is not best practice imho...If you could see your way clear to changing this, I am sure the community of skinners, and individuals trying to skin would be hugely grateful :) Here is a visual example for you.... 1. Hi there, On my board, I've got a lot of feedback from my members concerning the "view new content" option. MANY of them would like to be able to select specific forums from which new content is displayed. For example, I run a big board concerning poker. There are forums for strategic content (which are important forums), and "low-content" forums, like "The bar", which is a place where members can talk about everything (movies, games, sport...). Many of my members would love to see the new content only from the important forums, and not from the bar. For IPB3 I noticed there is an option in the ACP to disable custom profile fields from showing in topic view, but it has no effect on the continuous topic view of private messages and conversations. Also it would be nice if IPS would consider adding BBCode/HTML formatting and a limit cutoff to PM notification popups for IPB3. It would also be nice to allow anyone to be able to set a custom title and not require posts, currently if I set the posts to zero it disables custom titles completely. Hello, with such a title I am pretty sure some of you will read and with chance reply to my request: It could be very good for security (especialy for childrens but after all for evrybody too) to be able tp define who can see what in the member list. Like you can decide which forum can be read by one special group! let's have an example: It's very "easy" : the member of the group "childrens" are able to see all the children member in the global member list and the members of all other groups (exept the ones with member list display restriction) but the rest of the board can't see them. Would be nice to be able to view a log of all members who received (and who SHOULD have received but didn't) a mass mail along with why. Listing why they got the mail would tell which groups were selected and any other criteria (last visit, join date, etc). Listing members who didn't get it would include those who should have gotten it based on the criteria but didn't either because they opt out or because the mass mail was canceled. Obviously, this should be optional, as there are boards that are entirely too large for this to be a benefit to. As far as I can tell, this is already possible to do. However the client is currently unable to do this from the front end. Here is what I am doing: I have a basic subscription that gives access to the forum. I have a secondary subscription that gives additional access to a technical database. The two are mutually exclusive, getting one is not dependent on the other and unsubscribing one does not require you to unsubscribe from the other. I have set this up using user groups and access permissions, and it works correctly. The problem arises when a user subscribes themselves to either subscription, and then wants the second one. I went ahead and purchased a hosting package to run a test site on. Still trying to decide what other products I want to purchase. Anyway the first thing I did with my new hosting package was to change the password in the client area. After that I could not log into my cpanel. I did not know what to do so I called the 800 number and was talking to some in seconds! They created a support ticket and said someone would email me after it was corrected. With in a minute or less of getting off the phone I had a email saying it had been corrected! Wow, now that's customer service!

In my opinion the register page needs work done on it, in my opinion it looks bare. I'm not sure what else can be done on it but it would be awesome to hear what other members think about the register page and how it can be improved. This might be out there as far as suggestions go. A lot of people have phones and are on the go so why not make an phone app so users can send, receive PMs and post things in their blog, kinda like FB and Twitter. I think some aspects of products would need to be change in order to be more community network friendly In the end its all about how your users use and visit your site. With the success of Twitter and Facebook I could really see something like this taking off for some sites.

Right now, it seems e-mail reply to post seems to be a popular concept. For example, if I comment on something on Facebook, it subscribes me to that "thread." If someone else replies, I get an e-mail stating that someone replied. Now, Facebook has also improved it to allow someone to respond to the e-mail to post the comment on Facebook. Posterous has also had a lot of success recently with its e-mail to post functionality.

It's not that big of a deal, but when your topic IDs approach 19,000 when you only have 3,000 topics... it looks kind of dumb. The trash can is a big help, every time a post is deleted, it's turned into a topic. Is there any way to configure a database to reuse unused IDs?; same with Forums, Usergroups and Skins? It would be nice to get back to Usergroup ID 16, not 39. I know you can manually change Usergroup IDs (safer when no one exists in the group).

Hey Guys! A lot of users recently asked for an explanation of emoticons. They don't quite understand what each emoticon means and love to have tooltip when you hover over the emoticon with your mouse. This would also come in handy if you have ~200 emoticons in your board. We currently have the Standard IPB Emoticon set PLUS ~170 special symbols from the area of philately that would need explaining. :)

A while back I started creating a login module to integrate a game server into IPB. The game server uses MySQL to store account data and uses a username based login system. Much to my frustration I found that no only did the IPB login module system assume the password was hashed with md5 first and pass that into the login module, but many of the functions assume that the remote system uses the email address as the login method. Many of this has improved in 3.0, but there is still stuff that is missing to make integration possible. Thankfully a lot of feedback has been taken and some of these things are implemented into 3.1, while maintaining backwards compatibility. But…
