First of all, chat must be working extremely well for this topic even to be mentioned. :thumbsup: But, the ding dong of people entering the room really is an issue. No matter how low the volume is on my computer, unless audio is all the way off, it is too loud. And wakes up the people sleeping in the next room. I am on a laptop, no expensive audio system involved. Leaving the room could be a little quieter as well (maybe?, not sure). Like I said chat seems to be working great! :thumbsup:

or whatever you call that thing that shows the members picture and the drop down navigation. Clicking on the picture takes you to your profile. That's good. If you click the drop down menu, you get the option to.. go to your profile. That seems a bit redundant to me. Could it be either removed or (preferred) changed to "Edit my profile"?

Yesterday I finally decided to treat myself to a IPB license. So far, this is my feedback. I was able to solve all issues and granted me having problems may be due to the fact it's the first time I use IPB, but I am hoping you find this feedback useful. I installed the 3.1beta The download was fast, I went to open the documentation, and to read the instructions. First of all, I encountered that I needed to chmod directories. Ugh, I thought, but that's ok. I felt sooo CGI doing chmods. Not a problem anyway. However, two things crossed my mind: 1) Why? Oh why? Do you ask me to chmod conf_global.php to 777.... 666 should be enough. I am not giving executable permissions …

In last days i see a lot of vb users converting (including myself) to IPB. When i was first planning the conversion, i checked for existing vb-converts to see if they're able to move their data and so. So for future converts and people in decision for a conversion, let's list the sites that moved from vb to IPB. Seems that many of the users are doing just fine with the software. However, there are a few people that are reporting problems of not being able to see what they are posting/writing in the chatroom? One user can type, but can't see what they are typing until it is posted. Another user cannot see what they are typing or once it has posted, but the rest of the chatroom can? Any suggestions? I was wondering if it had to do with the color settings? Is there a way to change the contrast of the text-box area? Thank you, -Wendy.

This might have been suggested before but as we were just discussing in the chat here at IPS, I think that you should allow members to pay for the app and host the chat yourself. Alex said that there could be problems since the script is quite load heavy and that the shared hosting packages won't handle it and perhaps even ban IPS products from their servers. I do not think that is the case. If someone is exceeding their quota, they will be notified of that, asked to upgrade their hosting package and/or temporarily suspended. Opening up the hosting for IP.Chat is good because: 1) I know some people like to pay a larger one time payment instead of recurring smaller pa…

I submitted ticket from Apr 29.. Moved to Tier 2.. and now Tier 3.. It's been 4 days and without reply. I wonder if my support ticket was buried in there.. I really need support, since I was upgrading to IPB 3 and now I have to take my board offline because IPB 3 killed my server. My board is offline for a week.. and I can't do anything except if IPS support helping me..

Enable email notification of replies? This is no longer strictly true as other options are now available? Should it say perhaps Enable notification of replies? perhaps with a link to index.php?app=core&module=usercp&tab=core&area=notifications so that they can be altered / updated?

It would be nice if we could have an option to make certain packages inactive but allow those that are in that package to still use it until it expires. Reason being is, I want to remove 1 or 2 packages I've been offering, but I can't remove it without it having an affect on the users that are currently in the package. So in other words, it would be nice to be able to hide some packages from being bought.

What are your thoughts on using ajax to edit custom profile fields? If you want to encourage/make it easier for users to edit these fields more frequently (sites that have fields that are a bit more dynamic), I think this would do the job. If you're against using ajax for this, at the very least I think the custom profile fields could be better arranged/organised when editing your profile. Not too fond of custom fields being lumped together in "Other Information." If they are within a custom group I think they should be under a heading with the name of that custom group. For example, wouldn't it be better to follow the grouping in the ACP: Contact Information --AIM …

Since there is no IP.Subscriptions topic, I've included this here. Whilst checking for expired/cancelled paid memberships we noticed that cancelled recurring memberships do not change a user to the base group after expiration. To reproduce just look at a member that has registered and purchased a recurring membership package and has cancelled it, after the package's expiration time, the user should be moved to a regular member's group instead of remaining in a premium group, however this does not happen. This is somewhat a relatively annoying bug that might be making other communities lose alot of money. Let me know if you can reproduce this and how to solve it.

I believe the setting for this board is "1" minute. Would it be possible to have it bumped up to "3" minutes? Sometimes I'm quick with two posts, but not quick enough to get them into one post and I get a bit concerned when I've got two replies one after the other. Unless IPS doesn't give a crud about that, in which case, nevermind.

How does the quote notification work exactly? Does it only work if you click "Reply" next to someone's post? If that's the case, can it be a little smarter than this? Perhaps look at the quote tags instead? When you quote someone it usually adds their display name into the bbcode. Maybe you could take these quotes and lookup those users (maybe make the request faster by filtering it down to the users who have posted in the topic)? I know there are instances where I will quote multiple people within a single post. Or someone else does the same... But I don't always get the notification.
