Some of our members have exceeded the 50 friend limit that shows in the user profile. Similar to 'Show All Status Updates,' it would be great if you added an if conditional (is that the right term?) that displays 'Show all Friends' and takes you to the Manage Friends list. The link would only show if the 50 friend threshold had been reached. As it is right now, our members see only their 50 friends displayed and they think the person they just added did not go through. This leads to dual friending, I think, and at least frustration from the user perspective. Hope I explained this clearly. Thanks, Brian

IP.Board 3.x have problems with the Russian letters "ш" (code 0xD188) and "И" (code 0xD098). The mapping of these letters, after saving messages in the database banging. The problem occurs only on Russian hosting. As is known, for the correct functioning of the forum, it is necessary database encoding UTF-8. When installing a forum, creating a database and tables in utf8_unicode_ci and setting the locale Forum ru_RU.UTF-8 will still get beaten letters. Peculiarities of Russia's hosting of the fact that our hosters in the file hard-coded windows-1251 encoding in my.cnf. A typical configuration: [client] default-character-set=cp1251 [mysqld] default-character-…

When using template hooks, we have the cool replaceOutput function that lets us do some more direct manipulation of the actual output. I have found, though, that this function is really only useful if we want to add to the output at specific locations; it's not really all that useful to do any actual replacing. The reason for this is, while we get the $output and $key variables which tell us the HTML source and the HTML comment tag for the hook point starting location, we don't have anything that tells us where the hook point ends. In uses of this function for things like the 'promote to article' button in IP.Content, the function gets used so you can find a page loca…

SoftDelete hidden posts/topics, this would be a very nice and handy option in future releases.

Hello, I am missing Chat Bot functions like: 1) Automated greetings to all new users of the chat. The moment you are joining, the chat bot could advice a greeting message with some addtional information 2) Automated response on certain keywords. Thanks Stefan

Yes, I'm grumpy. Start rant: Lacking documentation (and now, contextual help) the ACP is difficult enough, but now I'm seeing fundamental usability problems in the interface design of universal end-user tasks, such as starting topics and posting responses. See Big fat Manage Topic Poll button -- wha? and Streamline Posting New Topic wasteland and Move Twitter icon from here to there above text box How could Invision, which claims to be influenced by Apple, make such awful interface design bloopers in sequences that will be used by every active member in every single forum in every package of IPB sold? Those end-user interfaces should be tight tight tight. A fund…

It would seem Invision Power Services and Internet Brands have 1 thing in common, as you both use a tracker to follow bug reporting. While I did find your tracker a little more user friendly..... Internet Brands may have a small edge in regarding to allow you to post screen shots. For the most simplest things, sometimes a screen shot is just easier to post, then trying to explain the error and getting lost in translation. Even more so when the individual reporting the bug, does not know the technical terms or speaks English well. So here is me reporting a small graphical error I found on your blogs and not knowing how to submit it in away that best fits my needs a…

This is little silly. If I set Can 'Soft Delete' own posts and Can restore 'Soft Deleted' posts to YES, member can soft delete OWN posts, but can restore ALL posts. We need setting like Can restore 'Soft Deleted' own posts. Can 'Soft Delete' own posts and Can restore 'Soft Deleted' own posts is for members who soft delete their posts but later they maybe change opinion and restore their own soft deleted posts. But in ACP settings I have possibility to enable only Can restore 'Soft Deleted' posts. There is not reason why members could restore posts which are not their own.

1. It would be nice to have select option at bottom, so that we can select all notifications. What happens at present is, you select all notifications from top and then you have to scroll way down to bottom to hit 'Delete Selected' 2. Possible to auto delete old notifications older then 30 days? 3. Please add one more option saying, 'Delete All' notifications. I have 93 pages of notifications on my forums. How can I delete it in easy way rather then going through all 93 pages.

Is there ANY relevant difference between soft delete and set invisible? In my opinion AT ALL, sorry. One of these is really useless. Moderators are confused from this and I get lot of questions about this.

Could you integrate a guest polling option into 3.2? (or sooner). Also the ability to poll without showing results public? All major news sites use guest polling. It's simply not feasible to expect everyone to join a site just to vote in a poll. I have a real life example of how the lack of these options detracted from our site. We had a corporate partner asking about polling options. They wanted to poll people without showing the results to their competitors. Couldn't do that. The other issue being guests not having access to polling. They wanted as many as possible including guest visitors. Ultimately we iframed a "pollmonkey" survey into a CCS page so they could d…

Ok gonna talk about a few things I think IPB needs to change/add. First thing is the style, yea it was nice and neat at first but just seems dull and boring now I suggest for of a fixed width style instead of a full screen forum which just looks bulky in my opinion. Maybe add mroe colors to it then just white/blue with offset green tabs. Second thing is profiles I have so many members upset because they cannot customize their profile at all except for minor things. Biggest thing is the friends list! Make it were you can choose how many friends show on your list with a default preset of like 10 and allow that member to choose a top 10 friends! Other things is ability t…

The area under the new topic text box looks like maybe changes were made here and there and it has gotten unnecessarily distended. This may seem kind of basic and unimportant but isn't starting a new topic a fundamental forum user task? It deserves some design attention. After entering text in the new topic text box, most users would naturally want to get to the Post New Topic button and be done with it. However, there are 7 rows of content, each taking up a disproportionate amount of space, to scroll past before getting to the Post New Topic button: 1) Attachments label row 2) Attachments browse box and controls 3) Attach This File button and upload quota info …

The Watch Topic process seems cumbersome, with 4 page changes involved, currently 1) Click on Watch Topic, 2) Select notification frequency (daily digest, etc.), 3) Confirmation of selection, 4) Return to topic page Suggestion: Streamline this process to 1) From Watch Topic drop-down, select notification frequency (none, daily digest, etc.), 2) Confirm by change of Watch Topic label to Watched Topic. If the user was able to select a default notification frequency in UCP, one-click Watch Topic would be possible -- just click on Watch Topic and get your default. The process is optimized for the user's default pref with the option to override via the Watch Topic dr…

The index.php?app=forums&module=extras§ion=forward&url=TOPICURL Page (Share this link via Email) need a Captcha! At the moment the form abused by Spambots to send Spam from the forum. Hope IPS will fix it ASAP (highly recommended at 3.1.2). Here a Screenshot of a Spammail (see the message between the failure notice message):

So I was just wondering, Is there a way you guys could make deleting topics faster? I have three screens to go through right now (Topic page -> Delete now or From View -> Redirection (My fault on that.)) I would like a quick, click the button, a javascript (possibly?) message that says the Delete Now or just from View thing, and then done. (Redirection page should still show.) It's just a minor grievance, and if you don't want to add it that's fine. Thanks, EBrown

There isn't an easy way to know the member's name in the side bar. The only clue is their picture. It would be nice if that image had title="their name" and was linked to their profile. For example: Matt just recently changed his photo. It's a little harder to make out when it's that small. I didn't know Matt posted it until I looked at the blog entry. Would be nice if I could put my mouse over the picture and have it say "Matt" in the tool-tip.

I know the reason why the AdminCP isn't cookie based, nor does it share a session from the public side: Security. Someone could use a remote image with an internal/hidden redirect to make an admin perform an action without knowing it. But the reason why this would be a problem is because the URL is known to the attacker. That is why the session is in the URL: So it's different for every session. What I would suggest doing: Make the session cookie based and share it on the public side. Take the session id (32 char hash), md5 salt it (configured as a define()), take the first 8 characters and require it to be in the URL. Then on the public side links to the AdminCP wo…

Chat Sounds

Is it possible to add one or two sounds to chat? That users can click on much like a smiley. A knock knock noise or a ping to get attention? I know we have a noise when someone posts or enters but I need something attention grabbing. Does a command already exist that can be used to make different noises?

I appreciate all the support I've gotten through support tickets. There are a couple of things that are very confusing about the system: 1) When I enter a ticket in the system, I get an e-mail with the subject Ticket Received. The body of the mail includes the subject of the ticket. The ticket number is embedded in a long URL that opens the ticket in the IPS client area. 2) When support responds to a ticket, I get an e-mail containing the response, with the ticket number in the subject. (Getting the answer in e-mail is very helpful. It's faster than continually checking the client area and I can file the e-mail in folders in my e-mail system.) However, although…
