If you are self-hosted, we recommend taking a backup before applying upgrades as mentioned by @Miss_B.
It is often a good idea to upgrade a test installation first to ensure there are no compatibility problems before upgrading your live site. That said, as a general rule upgrading between minor point releases (i.e. 4.5.2 to 4.5.4) should not cause you any issues, while upgrading major point releases (i.e. 4.5.x to 4.6.0) should be treated with extra caution due to a higher likelihood that third party customizations such as plugins, applications and themes will no longer be compatible.

My only suggestion is to make first a backup of your database and forum folders/files as well, before you upgrade your forum. (Regardless of the upgrade method btw)

No, please don't do this! You'll end up with a bunch of attachments which aren't associated to any content (yet) and then they'll probably appear magically again resulting in false bug reports and tickets.
 
Please NEVER update any database column manually! NEVER! 

You can set that limit at Profile Settings->Display Names->Allowed display name length.

thank you for an excellent app 
if I may suggest something, i think it can be nice to have link somewhere to the page where it shows the list of members who sent you a poke/like/thank , maybe another button on the profile page?
right now the only way to get there is when you receive a notification so theres no way to get there once its cleared
 
 

Some simple steps to try if you haven't already tried them:
1) Check all permissions for groups
2) Check all permissions for the apps
3) Run the support tool to clear the cache
4) File a ticket with support if all the above do not help
Without more information it becomes difficult to track down 🙂
 

Log in to the client area and purchase branding removal. Your CEO will like that because it's not cheap.

Just to note, I can't think of anywhere the user's signature would show if they don't have any content submitted.
That said, I've come around to the suggestion after the explanations and have raised it internally for further consideration.

Profile information that is spammy or offensive.
Imagine a new member registering and entering in something completely inappropriate in a free-text field. They never post, but maybe it's a link to something not okay for the community, or contains wildly offensive remarks about another member, or a group of people, etc. etc.
We've seen it all. Absolutely should have a "report this member" option on the profile.

Do you have your own VPS/Dedicated Box or are you on a shared hosting plan? If the latter, you will have to ask your host about it.

Just adding to this topic we use multiple layers that seems to work well
We first use MAD
I find it works well and covers all options.  Plus it is being updated
 
Next we use
Most people whi are banned have their emails blocked requiring them to create a new one to register.  These new emails are usually disposable email accounts. This app lets us block the use of people registering with disposable accounts.
 
Other things we do.
1. We do not delete banned or spammer accounts. Once you delete it is harder to track if it is a dupe.
2. We do IP ban, not as effective but it is another layer

so instead of it simply posting the name it posts the formatting as well?

Go to the Developer center section of your app and you can add your menu items under Modules - Admin tab. And for Menu Tab enter customization. I hope it helps.

Read nuisance and people will check it and STILL not give two damns about it. Its a barrier for posting and NOTHING more.
