I like the simplicity. Is there a way to re-arrange the order or does that go by apps order? It would also be great if there was a custom search to add lets say a downloads category, specifically.

I have a free member group (no subscription required). Then a premium member group(s) (subscription required). You create the subscription(s) that move members into the premium member group(s). Under advertisements, disable showing each ad for premium member group(s). That's the easiest way to disable ads for member groups with a subscription.

I use subscriptions on two sites to offer premium access. In conjuction with ads. Its mostly ads for free users and no ads for premium users, along with some added features/access.
Subcriptions is good, but there are feature and enhancement opportunities.

I have to agree. Every image page refreshed. I almost would have rathered a built in slider like the main page block and if you click on the image, then it takes you to the image page. So you get internal links to image pages.
I have a banner ad above and its not positioned well for this and doesn't play nice.

Yeah subscriptions are extremely popular on all types of communities. Their use ranges from basic support to running an entire business in a community.
Yes it’s a big focus area for upcoming Commerce update.

Hi Marco, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
It looks like the nulled version you found is Invision Community 4.4.9.2 from January 2020. It does not contain any of the cloud exclusive features. We do not ship any of the cloud application, and even if they had the files they could not connect to our network that powers those features as none of that functionality is exposed to the outside internet. You would just get a connection error.
I understand your frustration but this person has effectively stolen our work. This is a criminal act. You would not observe someone stealing a car and think "wow, they got a car for free, why am I still leasing?" and then pick up a brick and stroll towards the nearest car. 😆
Piracy is an unfortunate side effect of offering a downloadable product. Most of the time a person uses a stolen credit card to get the files and then re-distributes them. This costs us twice, in the stolen download and then in chargeback and payment processing fees.
We have learned over the years that it is pointless to try and sign any downloads. We used to store hidden data in JPG EXIF but most warez sites take 2 or 3 copies from different people and then use diff to see what looks different between versions and then simply remove any signed files or data.
We do follow up piracy but it's a long slog as most hosts are uninterested or the person using the nulled version jumps from low cost host to low cost host.

As a customer of both cloud and self-hosted… I can confirm there is NO FTP access or access to system files in any way. Services that are CIC do not work out of the CIC platform.   If it’s a “nulled” version, it is ONLY the self hosted features.

That’s pretty interesting. I thought cloud customers had no ftp or other access. Let alone to download and null a script using proprietary IPS code for custom cloud features.
I can see someone using a self hosted package that’s nulled, but cloud version?

That was my issue. Disabled and my phantom msql load gone. Not sure if it’s a conflict or what and have not had time to look deeper. I also enabled slow query logs and nothing really came up. It was also preventing some of my newsletters from going out. I thought it was that app at first.
Just saying, shut it off and check as well as other apps.

I would actually recommend disabling all 3rd party as a first instance, and test without. Until you do this, you are just going to be guessing at what may be the cause. By doing this, at least you can either rule it out, or rule it in. If you then find it is, you can start enabling things one at a time till the issue returns.
One thing I would advise on checking first of all, is that none of the table types changed. Ensure they are all INNODB on your server.

I was having a /usr/sbin/mysqld spike to over 100% CPU under my server processes. I had to kill it to stop it but it would creep back up. I checked a slow query log and nothing. Disabled bouncer and the issue is gone. Any ideas? MYSQL 8, using Amazon SES

Maybe only check boxes come up if you apply the filter per app basis. It would make it so much easier to organize content.

No additional work required - I've found their oembed endpoint. Create a custom endpoint as follows:

Note: ignore the "Apply to these groups?" setting - that appears to have a bug which I will resolve at a later point.
Once you've added the custom endpoint, go to the group(s) that you want to be able to use it, and there is an 'oembed' tab there where you can configure what the group has access to use.
Once done, the  https://www.canva.com/design/DAFZWegAizg/view link will embed as an iframe in the Editor.

Way too expensive. Currently, I pay 300$ yearly. I would need your Creator Pro and this is 1788$ a year (the cheap option). Even if I count in my hosting costs it's more than double the price tag. And I would have to pay my server anyway because I run more applications on it than only Invision Community.

That's not true, trust me. I think AlexWebsite note is right on the point i.e. monetizing. I have seen much larger groups for Trading and other things. I used to think as well i.e. Discord is popular in just gaming but when I noticed other groups focused on Infra/Ops Monitoring, Trading, OpenAI etc. my perspective has changed.

I can see that, if you are not really into monetizing your community. For me, it wouldn’t work. If I’m not earning from monetizing my sites, I’m not really interested.

It may be the same core software, but the technology used for some Cloud-only features are not easy to implement for the average Joe wanting to start up a community and requires more than just uploading Invision Community files to your server.
Thank you for your kind words. It's what we strive for.
There are always considerations that need to be taken into account of course. You've got to see what direction most benefits you and/or your community and go from there.
Sometimes others beat us to it. We have team members from all around the world and we try our best to reply in a timely manner, but if someone else decides to chime in, then that helps us too (I mean this more specifically in the Help & Support forum as you are referring to paying for support). If we feel certain individuals need to be pulled up on something, we have no hesitation in going down that path too.
Discord appeals mostly to the gaming sector as they build their platform to support gamers. Much like Twitch is to the gaming industry. They can use YouTube (in fact a lot started that way) but have opted for Twitch as it provides them with the right tools to engage with their followers/subscribers. That's their niche market in my opinion having used both platforms for a few years now. Create a channel -> Invite friends or other fans -> Play and stream the game for others to join, watch or engage.
I have had many websites and communities in the past. I would always start with the free options, but as you get older and earn a living, you have some money aside where you can invest in something that you were not able to do before. You are more open (or able) to taking risks. If it doesn't work out, then so be it.
I'm sure if Invision Community wanted to cater to a single market, their product suite would be targeting that market alone. Fact of the matter is we are not, so whilst we do our best to cater to a wide variety of audiences, industries, the small community, larger enterprise clients, etc, it's just impossible to make everyone happy.

I would be interested as well as we continue to watch features not available to self-hosted clients. I have multiple licenses and although not happy about the direction, I can understand business models changing. I don't fault IPS for evolving and differentiating services. At some point I will probably have to make some hard decisions myself, hopefully way down the road. Cloud pricing just does not compare to having multi-license self server/hosting. Plus, I can tweak and modify my environment as needed. I run my own cloud..lol.
As far as non-IPS staff members jumping into topics like this to provide "answers", I have to agree...it can sometimes be a bit annoying as I read threads. I'm not trying to discourage discussion its just that we pay for answers that are sometimes expected from IPS Staff only, just saying.... However, maybe those individuals are "interviewing" for the next open IPS staff role...at least it seems like that. If that's the case, best of luck to those individuals! 👍
