    Foster's Tutorial: Quality Content
Are you looking for a way to reward quality postings in your community? Are you looking to recognize superusers who make an outsized contribution to your community? Are you looking to build a knowledge hub with reputable information? Trying to sift through the morass of community posts can be a difficult feat for most community managers, as many communities are filled with low quality posts on general discussion topics, off topic jokes, or social chit chat.  If you're an admin who wants to cut through the chit chat and grow your reputation for high quality information, then you need a way to both recognize and reward reputable users.
Trophies & Medals by @Fosters is a full-featured awards system that will enable you to recognize the contributions of your users.  In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how to create a simple but effective automated system that rewards trophies based upon user reputation.  Using the native IPS functionality of reputation that gives users +1 / -1, you can build your own trophy system in minutes.
    1.  First, navigate to the ACP > Trophies and Medals app, which will show you all of the options for the application.
    2.  Click on Trophies > + Create New button.  You will create a trophy category with a Name and Description.  For example: "Trophies for Reputation."  Click Save.

Enter in the Name and Description to create a Project category.
    3.  Once you've created a category, click on + to "Add Trophy."  Create your first trophy with the Name, Description, and Icon.  For example: "Awesome Rep +1".

Enter in the Name, Description, and Icon to create a new Trophy.
    4.  Click on the tab "Award this trophy if..." and select User received at least X reputation = 1.  This will award the trophy when the user has received his first reputation.  You can browse and select other criteria as needed.  Click Save.

User received at least X reputation should be 1.
Congratulations, you did it!  You created your first trophy that auto-awards any member with at least 1 reputation.  If you want, you can go back and start creating more trophies for different levels of reputation.  This is what it can look like once you add more trophies:

By creating a series of trophies that automatically award members for superior reputation, you're recognizing the positive contributions of your membership and motivating them to continue posting quality content!  This will result in more meaningful posts in your community, motivating users to offer insightful and useful commentary to other members, and deepen the quality of conversation.  Best of all, it gives you an automated award system that constantly runs in the background without any further work on your part.  You target positive behavior in your community and encourage users to build up the collective body of knowledge over time.
    Advanced Tips
Here are a couple of our favorite tips on making the most of the trophy system for quality content:
Inform your users about the new trophy badges that they can earn!  Write 2 - 3 short topics on how they earn the trophy badges, what the different badges signity, and to seek input and involvement on creative brainstorming for the badges.  It's a great way to roll it out in advance and get your community excited about this new way to reward quality posts!   Give a unique compliment such as "Awesome job!" or "People think you're amazing!" in the description of each trophy. This engenders a positive feedback loop to encourage more positive behavior. Make your levels progressively harder.  Instead of every 5 reputation levels (eg. 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25), try to make it harder over time so users need to work more to obtain the next trophy (eg. 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100).  This ensures that trophies aren't too easy to attain in a routine fashion.   Let users know when their next trophy is awarded in the description.  This gives them a goal to work towards and a reason to login to your community.  For example, if they're at a trophy for reputation 20, let the user know to keep up the good work and receive their next trophy at reputation 50.  This offers a goal completion to motivate users.    If you run a Q&A forum, you can target 'best answers' using specialized trophy criteria and let your community compete for the most best answers.  Recognize them in person!  While the best part about the Trophies & Medals system is the level of automation that you can define in advance, you should take the time to recognize and cheer on members when they hit certain levels.  It doesn't have to be every time nor for every user, but when you notice a great post or a lot of reputation, let them know they're on their way to earning their next trophy for reputation! I hope you enjoyed this Foster's Tutorial and learned some new things.  We're always open for questions or issues, and be sure to "like" this topic so we can start earning our reputation badges too .

Yes, guests can't dismiss notices because we store the dismissed items in the database.
The client who initially requested this app didn't need it for guests, so we hadn't such problems in mind.
I'll make sure that the next release fixes this issues

That's not possible ATM, it's working only on a per app basis, but that's something that we've targeted for the next feature release.

Just want to ask a question regarding feature timeline.  I have been waiting since release for a proper transaction review feature.  I do not want to use that feedback plugin that is available. It works in a way, but not ideal.  Looking for a solution that works like eBay transaction feedback.  Is that coming anytime soon?

I am also interested in that shipment feature, very important.
The last thing to really glue all this together is a proper solution for currency.  My site is global and definitely needs the ability for a user to enter in a value in their own local currency.  The site should be able to do the exchange rate.  I only want them to enter it once, not figure out and enter in 10 different values.  Is this something that could be done?

    PRICING ALERT
We are committed to making sure our applications and plugins will be the based upon the best possible coding standards.  As such, we are going to rebuild our popular "Trophies and Medals" app to factor in new features that currently aren't possible.  Due  to the large refactoring, complexity of this app, and ongoing support, we will be increasing prices in the upcoming 2.0 version.  We wanted to announce the pricing alert in advance so clients can take advantage of current prices and plan for the increase.
This change won't affect current clients! The price will increase with Trophies and Medals 2.0 and will affect only new clients!  Buy now, save later!

The plugin creator, TheJackal84, fixed this issue - and it wasn't a problem with his work.  I've not had such a positive experience with help on a plugin before.  Moments after the support request was posted he jumped on it and solved the problem.  it can't always be that way, but to have him respond so quickly and kindly makes me a repeat customer!  Highly recommended plugin and developer!

I'm very interested in any ADVANCED POINTS application in the IPS marketplace! But all available solutions here appear as they don't get beyond the initial stages.
This was said already by end of 2015. So is there a chance of a more or less rapid further development?
    I wouldn't mind paying a higher price! $$$
I think an ADVANCED POINTS app should be somehow bound to
    CORE / FORUMS COMMERCE app
-> as a solid POINTS PAYMENT GATEWAY
-> as POINTS showing everywhere as a valid virtual currency (in addition to USD/EUR as a multicurrency setting)
-> Products can only be purchased by points, if point price is filled in. If both currency prices are filled in the customer can choose, if only real world currency is filled in customers must purchase with real bucks DOWNLOADS app
-> POINTS should be shown in addition to USD/EUR in blocks / widgets / slider ...
-> Products can only be purchased by points, if point price is filled in + (see above like in commerce)
-> points system must be suited for site commission/referrals/affiliates AWARDS app (currently: iAwards)
-> POINTS should be triggered if an award is received or taken away again, depending on the worthyness of the award (custom config per award) AUTOMATION RULES app (currently: automation rules)
-> there are lots more situations and maybe it makes sense to create some ECA (events/conditions/actions) as @Kevin Carwile describes his API for other developers
-> maximum flexibility And here is my (new) list:
    POSITIVE POINTS EVENTS:
Registration of a member is complete (once per unique Email address / member name)
-> this is a direct welcome bonus and introduces the points system to new members Daily Login (once a day): I try to force my members to login daily and award them therefore
-> if the member opts in for bulk mail he should get an extra minor daily bonus (email marketing!) OR he will only get the daily login bonus if he opted in for bulk emails.
-> if the member has a completed profile he should get an extra minor daily bonus (personalization) Topic/posts creations (once for author): topic author receives major points, post authors that respond in topic receive less points + thank you points for topic author for each post in topic by others, long texts (minimum chars) will be extra awarded, also texts with high reputation (f.e. if a post receives XX likes, then... extra points)
-> it should work the same way for blogs Free downloads / paid downloads creations: free gets XX points, paid DLs XXX points, if DL is downloaded XXX times then extra X points, or if purchased more than X times XX points Positive reactions (reputation): each reaction should trigger points for the receiver as well as the reaction giver in dependance of a unique reaction. Points values for different reactions differ (f.e. like = 10, thanks = 5, confused = 0, sad = -1)! The idea is to engage all members to take more part in using reactions, while others will be triggered by this behavior! Review creations: f.e. the more stars rating a reviewer will give, the more points he will get, extra points if other users find the review useful Gallery album creations: bonus for massive photo uploads (but if deleted again, then double minus points!) Purchasing memberships: give points for regular and VIP memberships and renewals (according to the price level) Special member group promotions: if members are promoted, they will get an extra point credit Leaderboard daily winner: different points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place iAward is received: depending what category and the worthiness, points should be given, awards are a very high reputation sign, hence they should be awarded with points, too! By the way, iAwards can also be triggered with "Automation Rules" ECAs NEGATIVE / NO POINTS EVENTS:
If receiving/giving negative reactions: take away points from both negative reaction receiver as well as the negative reaction giver -> this way a negative reaction will become "expensive" and only used if worth the event! receiving a moderation warning: in dependance to the severity reduction for inactive behavior: each month, reduce points by XX or XX% account banned: user looses all points (deactivation) manual reduction: admins/mods are allowed to take away points as a special warning mechanism!
-> Or admins/mods can suspend members from "daily points" OR "ALL points" temporarily Only problem: If (additional) points are purchased with real world money, there should be a setting that a member can't loose the purchased points (=drop below his investment) except for spending them in exchange for products like memberships and downloads!
    POINTS MULTIPLICATORS:
If user is in VIP group XX then multiplicate points values with f.e. 1.2 (=20% bonus) If user is in MOD group YY then .... f.e. 0.8 (=-20% as they will naturally get more likes for bureaucracy instead of content production) Points award for very high reputation: give 0.1 extra bonus (f.e. 1000 rep and up) SPECIAL POINTS OPTIONS:
Received points must be confirmed daily or weekly or monthly
-> this way, users will only get their points finally, if they take part in the community regularily
-> timeframe maybe dependant on member group Comeback users after time x should be awarded, if they click a special link!
-> so we can create bulk emails to attract inactive members to come back and engage again Banned members can't earn points (also during times if banned temporarily) Daily limit: limit the maximum points a member can receive daily! Tipping: Options to transfer points to other members as a thank you mechanism: if in group XX, can transfer daily X points max, if in VIP group YY, daily max is YYY points I have 1000+ ideas but these ones should be the essential ones for the start
If all the requests are too heavy to be hardcoded at once, there might be a chance to realize them with Automation Rules ECAs? I would accept this solution, too!
I don't need banks, no trades, I want to lift up the members engagement, sell points for real money and generate income (downloads/memberships products) by exchange!
    This is the requested "voice"
    Thank you!

@InvisionHQ @Adriano Faria I absolutely love this classified system, I was running Xenforo and had a developer developing one for that platform but he went completely AWOL and abandoned the project countless times. So finding an alternative with an active and reliable developer is a godsend. Thank you so much!

I really hope you continue to develop the classifieds system to keep it up to date and add more features like the feedback system you proposed and if money is an issue, I would be happy paying more for the renewal fee if it helps keep the app developed, updated and built on
