If so, in what way it is not changing?
I suspect he means "loading" when saying "charging". When using 8.x, his site isn't loading at all. It rather suggests he's on an earlier version.
@sonimik1: Which version of the software are you using?
-
It may be the language strings _date_format_yyyy and _date_format_mm. They have those values, although aren't necessarily used there. It's worth checking, though.

It's an unfortunate limitation of the system.
It is possible to change this by editing the core files, but this is not endorsed by IC, and could mean that they don't provide technical support should something go wrong with your site.
If you'd like to go ahead, you have to edit /applications/blogs/data/furl.json, changing the value of topLevel to whatever you want. (You can do the same with the other apps too, navingating to the correct folder from /applications.)

This sounds like the other site is using a CDN that is actually caching the base pages.
With a CDN... if the caching rules are not setup correctly... if I come to the site and visit a page logged in as me, it stores that page... INCLUDING all the content that I see on the page. The next person that comes along that connects to the same CDN server gets served the same page instead of going back to the origin.
This is why if you do use a CDN, you must either not cache base pages OR configure it to ignore cache for logged in users. 🙂
Ding ding ding, that's pretty much exactly what the admin on the site has said, Randy! 🙂

We would never expose other users information in a manner like this.
Not intentionally, no, which is why I thought I should raise it! If you're confident that it's nothing do with the software (and the admin there did indeed say "caching issue"), feel free to delete this entire topic, Jim, in case somebody somewhere misrepresents it. ("I heard that ... ")
-
This isn't about one of my own licenses but about a community I'm a member of. It appears to have been upgraded yesterday. (I assume to 4.7.4. The admin doesn't seem interested enough to know how to make beta releases available.)
There have been all sorts of problems with members (including me) showing as logged in as other members. The admin has responded that it was a caching issue, and now people are posting as themselves again, so the situation has apparently been resolved. It seems clear from comments that members have been reading other members' PMs, and accessing protected areas of the site where a particular member group speaks in the expectation that conversations are not viewable elsewhere.
It might be that this is a fault that you're aware of and have corrected. If not, it seems a massive cause for concern if it's something which might occur on other communities.
I've recorded a video of me navigating the site this morning and showing as three different users depending on which link I click (forum category/topic/last post). If somebody from IC would like to contact me, I'd be happy to share it and details of the site if further investigation is required.

You can download new forum software from the Client Area. (Click on Manage this purchases, and then you will see a green download button.) That will get you the software, which you would then install on your new hosting server.
To be clear: this would be an empty forum. If you're trying to recreate your old one (with its members and posts), then there's not much you can do. The only option is for your friend to contact the previous hosting provider and hope that they have kept the data and are willing to provide it to him.

Because you place the block you where you want it to be displayed on a particular device. Want it on the top on mobile? Place the mobile-only block first.

He's not just duplicating the blocks: he's specifying that one can be seen on mobile only while the other one can't be seen on mobile.
-
Nope, by design.

-
It's a double underscore in that one.
You could find it by using the translation tools and setting the option to view language keys.
-
Have you translated any language strings? Those icons are determined by various strings, so if you've gone through your language pack translating all instances of a particular word, that could be the cause.
I'm on mobile so can't check but I think the keys for those strings start menu__acp.
-
You can use CSS.
.cAuthorPane_badge--rank { display: none; } .cAuthorPane_badge { display: none; }
produces:
-
I don't know whether this is related but I noticed on my own site that there had been some new translations of language strings for dates recently. There are four in total, each starting date_this (date_this_week, etc). Perhaps have a look at those, @Speacy, to see whether they fix the problem.

Which dates is it you are looking at these? I ask as Im seeing a date on there in yellow, which I believe may be the ones you are referring to? These are indeed showing dd/mm/yyyyy on this end
They're not, @Marc Stridgen:
Since these are new posts, you should be reading them as November 6 rather than than June 11. I instinctively just made the same mistake!

Confirming that upgrading to 4.7.4 fixed the similar error on my site. How about you, @clickco?

@Jim M indicated in another thread that there's a bug causing template errors in 4.7.3, @Michael.J, which is fixed in 4.7.4. I've just upgraded, and the error has now gone from my site, thank you.
-
A-ha. Some of us have been having the same experience when a particular app is activated, even though the author can't replicate for himself. (The only real difference I can discern is that we're using PHP 8 whilst he's on 8.1.)
I'm not sure what you can do but I'll be monitoring this thread to check, and should I come across a resolution in the other, I'll paste a link here.

I'm just testing with PHP 8.1 and the latest IPB and not seeing any issues. Did a quick test with a new theme too.
Do you have any more errors in your logs or further steps to reproduce this please?
I don't have the option of 8.1 so am using 8 with a brand-new, unchanged theme on 4.7.3, all apps other than System and Forms off, and all plugins off. I'm still generating this on every page.
The system logs are displaying three errors (type: template_error) on each page refresh:1)

You have to create the folder beforehand for it to be selectable, Steve, so you need to go back to the Pages menu, and then click "Add Folder", which you will call "abax".
After that, you'll create a page, calling it whatever you like. Once the page exists and you've assigned its location to that folder, toggle open the "abax" folder on the Pages menu, and any posts you've created there will be listed. Click the down caret for the relevant page, and you'll see an option to make it the folder's default. That's the page which will appear at yoursite.com/abax. Any other pages in the folder will be at yoursite.com/abax/pagename.

Keep that trademark positivity, Jordan, and continue to spread it to others, as you do very well. Enjoy life and the new adventures coming your way!
