G17 Media reacted to Marc Stridgen in ACP API Config Issue NGINX since Update 4.6.12
While I understand what you mean there, I feel you may be thinking of this the wrong way around. We would not test updates on the software against items (nginx rewrites) that we dont provide support for. I completely understand the frustration that it no longer works for you, however those rewrites arent something in which we have written.

This will have been moved here as its related to your hosting, not to the software. We dont provide support for your hosting in any way, and do not actually provide any rewrites for nginx. This is not related in any way to the way in which we do support.

Just to point out on this one, we provide guides on how to set up our side, and attempt to provide the AWS side. However you dont actually pay us to provide guides on how to set up AWS. I can certainly take a look at that, but I do need to clarify this point.

@Marc Stridgen is not ignoring you at all, he is giving you a very solid/useful advice, I would listen to him if I were you.
I would advice you against doing that as well and give an advice if I may do so. Before you touch the database, make first a backup for just in case you will have something to revert back to.
P.s. In your first post you say you made a few test users which you deleted again, is this a freshly installed forum btw?

There is no best approach to this. Its quite simply something you should never ever do. I can move your ticket to the development forum if you would like, but it's not something we can assist with in any way. Advice or otherwise. I cannot emphasise enough how much things are very very likely to break.

Seems to be becoming a real issue. It's a shame, as you'd think with it being so much easier to install plugins from the marketplace now that developers would benefit. But clearly there are other factors at play.
IPS need to show their third party developers some love before the situation worsens further.

Thank you for asking! These are the ones I've found the last weeks:
    https://invisioncommunity.com/developers/docs/general/autoloading-classes-r6/

General issue: Something is wrong with the text styling on this page.
      https://invisioncommunity.com/developers/docs/general/caching-r8/

General issue: The section "The caching layer" references several old and no longer supported caching methods, such as ACP and Xcache.
      https://invisioncommunity.com/developers/docs/development/plugins/complete-example-of-a-plugin-in-ips-community-suite-r50/

The section "Step 5: Making Database Changes" makes several references to altering the core_members table. There is a warning at the top of the section, but the examples and text further down need to be updated.
      https://invisioncommunity.com/developers/docs/development/applications/versions-and-upgrading-your-application-r51/

References adding a column to the core_groups table.

G17 Media reacted to PatrickRQ in IPS Products are awesome, but your support BLOWS.
There were periods that IPS support was great but I think they got simply overwhelmed with number of support requests and increasing stupidity of human race.
I renewed my license after few years and suddenly found out there is no more ticket support. I sometimes find IPS support kind of "hard understanding" simple things or asking too many complex questions on simple issue report.
They work on a basis on self constructed pattern, probably as a result of past experience. Possibly it works great, however for simple matters it complicates things. Sometimes it is like writing "100 pages of documentation of a submit button".

From my experience working with customers in my company, I must say customer from before 10 years and customer now are two different sort of person. I may only say that nowadays customer is very demanding but worst in that is fact they act as a senior but have 0 ability of doing things themselves.

G17 Media reacted to Mote Marketing, Inc. in IPS Products are awesome, but your support BLOWS.
IPS makes it essentially impossible to get decent product support. I just clicked "Get Support". The only option to proceed was to disable all customizations, which I did, but it would not allow me to disable the custom theme. Then, I when I clicked "Reenable all customizations", all but one were not reenabled, causing our site to go belly-up. I had to call my Developer and have her re-enable everything, which costs me cash.
Why does Invision SUCK so incredibly hard at providing reasonable support? I've been using your products for something like 15 or 20 years, and have given thousands to your company over the years, but you just keep pissing me off to the point that we are seriously looking for other options to power our platform. Seriously, your support is just faeces.
Also, despite the fact that all of the relevant PHP functions are quite clearly disabled, I have a persistent warning that "Dangerous PHP functions are disabled. According to my Developer, this is a common and widespread problem. Why, oh why can't you guys do better than this? This is an expensive platform, but it has way too many issues, including a UXI that is clearly designed by Developers with ZERO human interface talent. Can't you guys hire someone who knows how to design UIs with a modicum of expertise?

IPS has made it clear that they prefer cloud customers. I doubt there will be any new and substantial feature additions that would only benefit self-hosted clients.

This is one of those cases where you need to be sure you are aware of what you are doing when you are self-hosting. I do not believe our software should be in the business of helping you run your server. You should have the technical know how to check your S3 bucket size and your own server's disk space before starting a file storage move.
Keeping track of server disk space or S3 bucket size is not really up to our software - that is the job of the system administrator.

The issue is still very current; see Kreb's on Security's post here, from last month: https://krebsonsecurity.com/2020/08/sendgrid-under-siege-from-hacked-accounts/
We get a lot of mail rejections from corporate domains from SendGrid, deliverability to Google is still quite high, although read rates are much lower. We are using our own custom e-mail stack now and hardly ever deal with rejections.
Either way, if SendGrid is still working great for you, I wish you the best.

Because popular days is what posters and readers really wanted to know about a post and definitely not the # of views it has had. Plus, where could they even have fitted that enormous info?

G17 Media reacted to Matt in Invision devs forgot # of views in Topic Summary?
I don't think that number of views is a particularly useful metric and doesn't reflect how beneficial the topic may be.

Also, which guest page caching, the topic view isn't entirely accurate and will only accurately count member (logged in) views.

Thanks for the update. Would prefer we actually end up with a solution that provides a certain always-local (not off-server S3 or whatever) source to load "stuff".
My reason is CORS madness and though that's not something that is necessarily IPS's problem to manage on end-user sites, it is a thing we'll hit if we lose the Interface directory as we will go from always loading and working as our things are loading from the local server to maybe/maybe not working depending on the FileStorage location being local or not and now we are getting yelled at and having to deal with all that stuff.
    Others may have different reasons.

That response appears to be saying (by not saying...) that CIC users and the interface folder are not gonna fly?
Can we get a real answer on this? If the interface folder contents for apps is not going to install for CIC users a lot of us have a lot of work to do.
If this is just a hitch with Community Map then carry on but otherwise we are all going to need clarity here.

G17 Media reacted to Daniel F in Files in the "interface" folder and CIC clients.
Short update on the issue: This is indeed a limitation which we've just noticed ourself, We're looking at this right now and investigating possible solutions.
In the meanwhile I would suggest to stop using the interface directory at all, and instead use controllers for the PHP logic and official CDNs or the application resource system for any other files.

I'm going to explain this further in the upcoming September Marketplace Recap topic which will be published on Monday.
