    That sounds reasonable - but if you want an actual instance then my own issue is one to view.  Uploaded a theme, works great, then for some reason it starts acting funny and there is no apparent reason for it doing so.  Uninstalling the theme and reinstalling it resolved the issue, however I lost all my customisations in the process and had to redo them, not a major incident but one which could have been resolved with a simple reinstall of the files. I'm not sure if you're aware of this issue, but it basically meant I could not see a database in the pages app and when trying to add, remove or reposition blocks on the front page I got this error:

    I understand that these irregularities may not be something that occurs frequently, but just having that little button that says 'Reapply Files' would be a boon and it would potentially cut down tickets and having to contact app authors, many of whom take a long time to respond and many are often in different time zones making any useful dialogue difficult. But thanks for offering an olive branch of hope 🙂

    We're not talking about forums or any of the IPS apps, it's about third-party apps and you don't always have to start with a clean slate.  I'm not talking about reinstalling database tables, etc, I'm on about the actual files that get installed on the server - this is generally where corruption or other issues can take place.  If the issue is with the database, then you may be stuck unless you know how to analyse and manipulate databases.  There are some situations where a reinstall will not work, but in general I have always found that reuploading the files of an app works.  I run a movies site and if I uninstall the app, I lose everything, if I can reinstall the files without uninstalling, I may have a lucky escape - this is what I am on about and why it was useful to have a hard copy of third-party apps.
    Not everyone knows about backups and where to find files, etc.  I'm lucky in that I can do these things (having done this and learned over the last 20 years), but not everyone can and not everyone will.  Now, if third-party apps had a backup option when they use database tables, which would change the landscape, it would be a bonus, but I can't see them doing that.  The idea I'm pressing for is to make it as simple as possible for users to fix things themselves without raising tickets or contacting authors who may take days or even weeks to respond.
    It's like a lot of things in life, you fix an issue and potentially create more issues - which is why there are a lot of topics related to this subject.  The system, in principle, is good but as it stands it lacks a lot in terms of self-support.  Running the support tool will find issues with any IPS system files that may be out of order, but not third-party apps 🙂

    if I buy milk in store want to take the milk home do not leave in the store and bring pancakes dough to the store to use my milk
    If I buy tires for my car - do not need to show a driver's license - such visions do not like
    Such rules can not be insert in the middle of the process (4.4.10 - 4.5)

    Backups have nothing to do with this - my paid files can not make backup - not needed - paid for them.

    Agree with You ( @Davyc and @xtech) 100 %. Wrote before that our paid files are stealed from us and got warning because of criticsm. Will never buy something from Donatorplace (Marketplace) and will never renew my paid files because my paid files will have on my computer and used when i need them (and also protect them on my way). IPS do not need protect my paid files because they can not protect their owns (allready you can download 4.5.2 whole package - nulled).
    Will buy something only on developers site in future. Bought Ipsproarcade - on developers site and had never problems (you can not find nulled arcade) - developer protected his files = Bravo - teach lesson IPS.
    @Lindyyou can give me another warning but i understand You - criticsm is not welcome here but kissing ass is ok!

    We are not the same and that is ok - what is positive for me - that not mean that should be positive to some another or opposite!
    Better to have some functionality plugins!

    Hey Invision, hope you're having a great December.
    So, I had an idea.
    One of my main missions this year was to elevate the culture in my forum and make it a kinder place. I feel like I have achieved success in that regard, however I still see comments that I find pretty questionable despite the warning points system, moderators, rules etc that are in place.
    My idea is to develop a Kindness plugin.
    There's a lot that can be done, and I'd love to hear your guys' feedback, but the first thing I'd like to have this plugin do is create essentially a little check box that the member must select that essentially says "This comment is kind" before they can successfully hit the reply button.
    Yes, they could still write something negative or rude and check the box and post it, but I would like to see how that plays out. I do think psychologically it would be more difficult for people in general to say, "yes this is kind" when they know it isn't.
    I thought of starting with simply changing the language of "Submit Reply" to something else, but think that might be a little clunky.
    What do you guys think? I'm open to suggestions of course! Thanks =]

    If you want a positive place you make it with how you handle things and people.
    Adding a barrier to posting IS a nuisance for all. People get annoyed having to accept a Terms of Service in the first place and now you want to make them accept it EVERY TIME THEY POST!? That's ludicrous and will only earn ire of "Why do I have to do this every time?" and "Is there a way to auto check this so I don't have to do it every time I post? Everything I say is kind," sort of complaints and asks from your members. You will also get people asking "Why do you need this?" and "Where did my post go?" because they posted and clicked away to go do something else and forgot the check box.
    If you want it, get it commissioned. There is no reason for this to be in core now or in the future.

    I reckon you are looking to create a Utopian type site where all negativity is banned regardless of whether it's warranted or not.  It akin to "I like your point of view, as long as it's my view too".  Good debate is rarely polite or kind, the essence of rationalised negativity promotes thought and often refers people to re-evaluate their stance in whatever the debate is about.  If you remove that element, then you will just have a site full of sheep with no room for the occasional bad egg and everyone who has a different point of view will be barred from asserting their views. I doubt that I would appreciate being a member of such as site and this opinion would most likely see me being penalised as it could be viewed as being unkind 😉
    On the process of asking for such a plugin, this topic would be better placed in the Marketplace Customisation Requests forum.  This not something I believe would sit well in the core whether it was optional or not; there are more imaginative ideas for core features.

    There is no delete all messages button, I'm afraid. To delete a status update, you will need to click the status update and view it. You can do this by clicking the status update in the block or going to the profile of the user who posted it. You can then delete it by clicking "Options" then "Delete" as outlined below in the screenshot.
    Moderator permissions control what you can moderate on the front-end of your community, such as here. You will need to ensure your group has correct moderator permissions. Administrator permissions control what you can do in the Admin Control Panel so simply because you have an administrator account does not mean you have moderator permissions. For more on this, you can read the following Guide: https://invisioncommunity.com/4guides/staff-and-moderation/creating-administrators-and-moderators-r31/

    @kmk If the problem is still not solved, create a new topic. This is topic support theme, not IPS script.

    @bosss that is correct.
    Another two bugs that I've just fixed.
    Without this, the notifications layout breaks on mobile devices.
    CSS
    core > front > custom > fmdark.css
    Remove the width.
    Before:
    .ipsMenu_innerContent { max-height: 350px; overflow: auto; width: 450px; } After:
    .ipsMenu_innerContent { max-height: 350px; overflow: auto; } And without the !important applied to #elFlashMessage, flashmessages ("inline notifications") for reports are always with the default blue background instead of using the color the user selected in the color picker.
    Templates
    core > front > global > fmDarkCustomCSS
    #elFlashMessage { background: {$colour} !important; } core > global > global > fmDarkJSBG
    #elFlashMessage { background:' + colour + ' !important; }
  17. Thanks
    bosss reacted to Gabriel Torres in FM Dark ( Support Topic )
    More fixes:
    Templates:
    core > front > global > fmDarkCustomCSS
    Add:
    .ipsTabs_activeItem { background: {$colour} !important; } core > global > global > fmDarkJSBG
    Add to the logic:
    .ipsTabs_activeItem { background:' + colour + ' !important; } CSS:
    core > front > custom > fmdark.css
    REMOVE one intance of the code below because it is duplicated:
    .ipsTabs_activeItem { color: #fff !important; }

    .ipsTabs_activeItem { color: #fff; } to:

    /* Logo */ #elLogo { z-index: 2001; } /* Breadcrumb */ .ipsBreadcrumb { color: inherit; } /* Mentions */ a[data-mentionid] { color: #000; } a[data-mentionid]:hover { color: rgb(var(--theme-text_color)); }

    With 4.5 we got those nice and shiny badges:

    However there is not much we can do with these. No way to edit the icon (I know it can be done manually, I am talking about AdminCP options...), to way to change the inverval for how long a "recently joined" member is getting a badge, no option to display badges based on usergroups (not just if someone has moderator permissions) etc.
    Also the "hand icon" for recently joined members has received quite some negative feedback. It is misinterpreted for restrictions being in place instead of a waving hand (what I suppose it should be taken for).
    Suggestions:
    Please add a usergroup-based options: Display profile badge YES|NO (If YES, then 2nd option:) Edit profile badge: Background color (color picker) Icon Remove badge from moderator permissions (not needed anymore with the above option based on usergroups) For recently joined members, please add an option to choose for how many days the joined-recently-badge will be displayed.

    But this is precisely why there is a responsive layout - so that the page looks equally good on different devices and different screen sizes.
    But I feel there is a lot of space here that can be saved.

    Why are all the elements so huge? This is not a touch screen. Why do you pay so much attention to secondary elements there (highlighted in red), dropping the main content to the bottom of the page? Author / date creation. I wrote about the author and the date of creation here. Follow. Forums with thousands of members and millions of posts, but several people subscribe to topics. It looks something like this: Promote. Who sees this button? Only admins and moderators? So it only looks good to a few people on the forum, but thousands of other members see a huge empty space? Share. Do you have statistics on the use of this button? This button is almost never used by anyone, but you have given it a central place on the page. Seriously? Moderation Actions. Again — so it only looks good to a few people on the forum, but thousands of other members see a huge empty space? Start new topic / Reply. I wrote about it here. One more example on a smartphone:

    It looks ugly, it duplicates the same action, it interferes with clicking the "Submit" button.
