True. I started to use 4.7 in Beta 5 because I had to disable a item in the constants.php; bug is still there, btw.

One more thing. A quick shout out to @Adriano Faria who first thing this morning, and I mean first thing, was hammering out update notices on all of his apps. He's the only one that I've seen all day. I hope they all get approved quickly, but kudos for the immediate intervention. I hope that the other devs are also pushing updates, especially on the big apps that so many of us use!

You need to change your payment options to their test/sandbox option or delete them.  Also worth a searching for NEXUS_TEST_GATEWAYS and EMAIL_DEBUG_PATH for more information.
    Here is a start.

Richard Arch reacted to Joachim Sandstrom in Email default design
    Hi!
We have a hard time understanding the default design level of the IPB emails. According to us, it is not remotely close to the professionality of the rest of the IPB. (Hats off for the latter).
Like the enclosed confirmation email, where we have added a top brand image that is equal in size to the email to add some kind of overarching design structure to the email. But the email in itself looks... not good.
    1) We count to seven (7) different combinations of fonts/size/colour in this email having just about 100 letters.
    2) A visual structure hard to identify. Some text here and there, to the left and in the middle. A few gray horizontal background blocks to... what?
    3) The last time we saw inverted text (e.g. "Set Password" below) was when programming in Pascal at uni. That was during the mid 1980s.
We understand that there are a lot of customers who want to invest resources in customizing their emails to their look & feel. But there are certainly a lot of customers, like us, who prefer to stick to a SAAS "buy-standard-run-standard strategy".
It can not be a good business strategy to derail customers off such a strategy through a bunch of seemingly design-wise forgotten emails. Documents that are some of the first impressions the third party customer gets from a community. As you know, first impressions last.
    We propose
A basic - but up to date - default email design. It would be the way to go to satisfy both the customer strategies mentioned.

Richard Arch reacted to Robert Angle in Upgrading to 4.7 Fail, Total Nightmare, and How I fixed it on my own
After upgrading my test installation without a hitch, I assumed it was safe to upgrade our main community. I backed up my database to my local computer and began the installation process, which FAILED when I hit the button at the bottom of the page that showed me all the applications that would be upgrading from 4.6.12.1 to 4.7. I received an error message that said my site could not be reached. Backing up and trying again just resulted in the same message.
So I did what I haven't had to do in years, and logged into the Client Area with the intent to submit a Support Ticket. But lo and behold the Support Ticket system is now non-existent and I am greeted with a message that says my plan doesn't include email support. Like, what the actual hell? I thought part of the exorbitant fees were so I had access to tech support. In the past, they would even log into my community and troubleshoot and apply fixes. Now I as a paying customer can't contact someone for help or submit a ticket anymore?
    Anyway....
I visited the Invision forums and did a search for "upgrade failed" and found a ton of posts from others experiencing similar issues. Apparently the problem/bug comes down to having set up a custom admin directory, like so....
mydomain.com/admin <--- this works and is acceptable mydomain.com/SecretAdminDirectory <---is gonna screw you up big time. The common answer from Invision devs is that manually visiting the upgrade URL is the solution (i.e. /admin/upgrade/ OR /SecretAdminDirectory/upgrade/). Sadly, this did not work. Now my Staff and I are having cardiac arrest at the thought of the community being down for at least the entire night.
The next attempt was to do a manual upgrade. I downloaded the .zip file for 4.7 from the Client Area, unzipped it, and uploaded and overwritten all the files on the server. I also changed my constants.php file to just point to the default admin directory. Once all 7500+ files had uploaded, I pointed my browser once again to the upgrade path, /admin/upgrade/
I was taken to the AdminCP, already logged in, but I was only given an error message that said "Upgrading relies in PHP Sessions, but PHP is not configured properly on your server. You will need to contact your host to fix the issue." So I began the process of submitting a ticket to my host when I decided I would first research what a PHP session is. In brief, it's data stored on the server and not on a local machine like a cookie is. So I figured I need something from the previous URL string when my upgrade had failed, so I when through my browser history until I found the key from my very first upgrade attempt which looked like this...
mydomain.com/SecretAdminDirectory/upgrade/?controller=systemcheck&key=Th15Rand0mString0fL3tt3rsAndNumb3rs And I then manually entered the URL to the upgrade path with that previous key as follows....
mydomain.com/admin/upgrade/?controller=systemcheck&key=Th15Rand0mString0fL3tt3rsAndNumb3rs This launched the Upgrader and then all the steps went as they are supposed to, updating tables, themes, etc, and then completing the upgrade and presenting me with the option to go to the AdminCP or the community.

So, to recap, after the internal automatic upgrade failed, I had to take the following steps....
Download 4.7 from the Client Area Unzip it on my local drive FTP it to the server, overwriting everything Edit constants.php so that it points to the default /admin/ directory Find the previous PHP session key from my browser history Manually visit the upgrade path with the variable string/session key included Complete the upgrade Tonight was a nightmare, but I figured out a fix, and I simply wanted to share what I did to get back up and running because it's clear this is happening to others as well.

Insert the row back into the table then delete the member from ACP.
The row you insert needs to have the same member_id of the row you deleted, the other columns can be a copy of a similar member.

    Agreed.
    Minor corrections:
viewing alone doesn’t create an invoice, but starting a checkout.  The invoice should be created at the last step of the checkout when the users clicks “place order”. That’s when the purchase becomes legally binding for both sides. It is NOT necessarily the moment of payment, as there can be payment options like “manual wire transfer”. The invoice wouldn’t be delayed in this case. It still belongs to the moment of the purchase.

Richard Arch reacted to LaCollision in Commerce: withdrawals with Stripe
    Hi Invision,
Withdrawals with PayPal are definitely an issue in Invision right now.
For them to work, it is indeed necessary that the Payouts are activated on our PayPal account.
However, these Payouts are only offered by PayPal in a handful of countries – for example not in France.
And PayPal's sales and technical support is absolutely disastrous; it is nearly impossible to reach them or get a response.
We are therefore forced to make manual payments, and it is a real hassle.
Also, would it be possible to integrate Stripe's Payouts solution?
    https://stripe.com/connect/payouts

Their implementation seems much simpler to me than PayPal's.
And since Stripe is already integrated into Invision, I think it wouldn't be a huge job!
    What do you think?
    Thank you!

Richard Arch reacted to Giray in Commerce start and end dates
It would be nice to be able to assign a start and end date for a commerce listing. We have a convention coming up and I’d like certain products to show up just at the beginning of the convention and magically disappear at the end of it. I’m sure there are many other uses to a start / stop date. I know I can put the stock at 0 until the date, but with multiple products, that is not a very practical solution.
Anyone else agree with the feature?

Richard Arch reacted to opentype in Expired subscriptions must be treated like no subscription
The issue: when someone let’s a subscription (product subscription or regular subscription) expire, they will later not be able to buy it again, because the invoice on file prevents a new subscription. But the existing subscription also cannot be renewed because the invoice has expired. This can only be solved by intervention from an admin (manually finding and deleting these invoices), but there might be hundreds of those and it would require a constant monitoring of expired invoices.
The solution: The check that prevents a new subscription with an invoice on file should be removed or adjusted. Someone who doesn’t have a subscription anymore, because subscription and invoice have expired, must be treated like anyone who never had a subscription. Both groups should see exactly the same offers because their status in relation to these subscriptions is the same.
Why it matters: People run into this problem all the time and it’s not just an inconvenience, it it costing them money, because people who would want to pay cannot pay and probably just give up. Here are just a few examples from the recent days (and I have observed this and commented on it for years):
Subscription buttons don't show up. (yesterday)
    Subscriptions Bug (yesterday)
invoice has expired but member cannot renew (7 days ago)
The development time to fix this is probably much cheaper than having IPS support deal with this issue for years, constantly identifying the issue and guiding people through the process of the possible work-arounds. So it would be a win-win situation to finally fix this. 😉
