Square Wheels reacted to CheersnGears in Add a "Providers Directory" as a feature to Invision Community
Some of us (many of us?) are not coders, and in this day of Elementor, Wix, etc, do not wish to become one. I don't want to spend my time learning how coding something like that when I could be using it to write content for my sites.

You mean the documentation? Check this out, it's even for free 😄

Is there any way you could share the structure of the database and the theme files so that we can recreate it on our site?

OK, how about releasing a guide on how you built your guide? 🙂

Hi,
The first two things mentioned whenever I see someone ask for help is to update to the current version (makes sense), then turn off all third-party apps. Instead of me buying third part Pages apps, it would be nice if IPS were to include some usable examples inside the application. Or make something like the Providers directory downloadable for users.
Thanks

Thank you. That looks nice.
Since IPS sells this as part of their suite, I was hoping they had some guidelines on how to use Pages.

Is there a guide to help a user build a page like this?

Its certainly something we have on our radar in terms of ensuring people can make pages easier 🙂

These are the ones I meant, try to rebuild them and investigate how they work. Then think of a SIMPLE project you would like to realize with Pages. Some kind of directory or whatever and just go for it.
If you need help, search the forums, ask questions and also take a look at sites like W3Schools, or simply Google it. The basics of HTML, CSS and so on, probably no one will explain here, because that would go beyond the scope.

It’s funny how things start working just before a tech person looks at something… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen it happen. I blame the gremlins!

Glad to hear things are working!

Yes, the IPS Help Guide section describes the general usage of these Pages databases.
But the necessary customization of the templates needs experience with HTML/CSS and time to learn how the IPS design framework works. No tutorial can easily teach that.

This should be part of the core.

I don't believe this is permission issue with File.php. Nothing is actually stored within that file for it to be written to. What I think is happening is an issue with the bucket itself. IPB is trying to save stuff to the bucket and not getting proper permission to do so.
File.php is triggering the save to AWS, but with the bucket not working properly, it is throwing an error.

It looks like it is a file permission issue.

There are some guidelines, for example for their release notes and afaik some kind of recipe database.

That's the biggest rewind I've seen from IPS in years of service. 🤯
The marketplace is an excellent showcase for small and big developers to publish their work that would have a potential chance of being bought, you've killed every chance for these products to be discovered.
There are many small modifications that enrich the IPS, and now they will no longer have visibility.
People will now have to apply for paid service one by one, for features that were already available in marketplace.

I would have hoped for a 6 month notice period to be honest not 2 1/2 months.
Considering we cant download addons any more other than through admincp we cant even back up for a wayward plugin dev who is sick or unable to handle the change in 2 months.
Please at least let us download what we own to self install for now.

To Marketplace developers and the Invision community as a whole, I will be happy to host an independent and collaborative Marketplace directory. It's already in the works.
I fully support a thriving ecosystem of developers and clients: to extend, to inspire, and to push the boundaries of our platform. Technology is an important differentiator more than ever in the modern web, and working with developers (either privately or through their public mods) can help fine-tune your platform.
More information and invitations will be sent out to active Marketplace devs. You are also welcome to send me a direct PM.
Follow this topic for any future updates.

@LiveG, this sounds frustrating. I'd suggest hiring one of the people on this thread with "Provider" under their name. Or find someone from here: https://invisioncommunity.com/third-party/providers-directory/.
