@Matt it goes even further back for me as I still count the original Ikonboard days!  It was the failed experiment that lead to the one that actually worked!
In terms of memories… there are too many for me to pick just one:
@Charles picking me up from the airport near Appomattox explaining how Virginia was not a state but a commonwealth.  The panicked support tickets to reboot a server and @Lindy saving the day and talking me off the ledge when IPS still sold dedicated servers.  Meeting you and learning about the migration from Perl to PHP.  Working through the upgrade from IPB3 to IPB4 thinking the conversion would NEVER finish… and then when finally turning the board back online and members saying “oh wow!”

Mark got a reaction from Maxxius in 4.5: Zapier Brings Integration with Over 2,000 Web Apps
The main benefit is to integrate with this party services. Zapier provides a common platform of exchange for any app: Mailchimp, Google, Facebook, Dropbox, etc - and now Invision Community - to send data to any other.
The fact you can use it to send stuff from one Invision Community to the same Invision Community is an interesting thing I wanted to mention, but I imagine most people will be linking with external services.
"Integrate with [insert service name here]" is one of our most popular feature requests.
    Zapier also has this!
During testing, I had a Zap that did "if someone makes a post, and that post contains my name, blink the lights in my living room red and send me a slack message - if it contains another staff member's name, blink the lights blue". I was going to include a video in the blog entry, but thought we should stick to realistic examples (people are sometimes a bit literal and I thought some might get confused into thinking we were aiming for building a feature that aimed to blink the lights in your home 😅).
We don't have a "New Purchase" trigger yet (though obviously it's high on our list) but by sending that trigger to Delay and then an email service that kind of thing is a great example of the sort of thing you could accomplish.

You might say it works a little better, as far as I know you cannot Pay for WordPress plugins via their installation process.
It really is as simple as video shows though.

We (those who make/update translations) need a tool that can tell us which new language bits was added between versions so we can update our translations easily and faster.
The UNTRANSLATED filter isn't practical in this case because there are hundred of language bits that I (and a lot of people here) didn't translate (like countries, emoticons, etc) and they are there so it's a "false" positive in this case.

Hello @Ryan Ashbrook, thanks for the update. How about translate feature, like in WeChat or Facebook? It would be great as we have a lot of global members who posts messages in its native language. For now I have some content in french, spain, chinese, arabian. I use Google Translate to confirm the foreign content is legal and relevant. That way of moderation giving me more new members and searches in foreign browsers.

I joined in May 2011 and purchased the software for use with a gaming community. Since then it's also been used for a photography community, horse rescue charity and, currently, an astronomy community.
I've never, not once, considered leaving for a competitor. The software and support has been top-notch throughout.
P.S. Please do tell about @Lindy being locked out of his own data centre...

Mark got a reaction from LiquidFractal in 4.4: Increase visitor registrations with Post Before Registering
It will use the one from the social service (assuming it's set to import emails)
I did experiment with a modal but it felt weird... Like, do you leave the editor with their post still open underneath? That makes it feel like the post hasn't been submitted, and that you could close the modal to cancel, but that wouldn't be the case.
Yes that checkbox is part of the normal registration form.
If they don't complete registration (i.e. they never confirm agreeing to the privacy policy) the email address is automatically deleted. The only thing it is used for before that is to send one follow up email to remind them to finish submitting the very content they submitted alongside giving their email, which is a legitimate interest.
Yes, that's exactly how it works 🙂
Yes, they will see the COPPA form after submitting the post, and then on the next step it will be as shown in the blog entry.
Invision Community doesn't natively integrate with Akismet, but the registration process is unchanged so our native Spam Defence service, and any other anti=spam measures you have in place are still honoured.

Mark reacted to opentype in 4.4: Recurring PayPal Payments and more with Braintree and Commerce
There are PayPal Billing Agreements in 4.3 already. So yes, you can have automatic recurring payments. If you are unsure how to activate that, I would suggest a support ticket.
This blog post here is about 4.4 and Braintree, which is new option. There is nothing here that needed “fixing”.
  25. Thanks
Mark got a reaction from The Old Man in 4.4: Recurring PayPal Payments and more with Braintree and Commerce
Yes it is. Just like with Stripe you set up each as a separate payment method (but using the same credentials). This allows you to control where they are available (for example, since Apple Pay cannot handle recurring payments you might want to offer that only for products which don't have renewals). They will automatically hide if the user's device doesn't support them (Apple Pay can only be used on Apple products, for example). You can set the "Available To" setting in a payment method (which controls which countries it is available to) to none of them, which effectively "disables" a payment method. You can keep using Stripe for cards and just switch to Braintree for PayPal. If you wanted to switch everything to Braintree to have everything in one location, you would lose cards customers have stored on file (though this would be handled gracefully - they'll just be sent an invoice like they would if their card had expired).
